7 S : Material Copper of minimum purity 99.5 percent conforming to S : 3487l 966 Specification for copper strip and foil for manufacture of copper gaskets and copper washers and eyelets or aluminium SlCJ H conforming to S : Specification for wrought aluminium and aluminium alloys, sheet and strip ( for general engineering purposes ) ( revised ). 3.1 Cold rolled copper having the following physical properties shall be used: a) Tensile Strength 200 to 250 N/mm2 ( 20 to 25 kgf/mmz ); b) Elongation 40 percent, Min; and c) Annealing to a hardness of 40 HB, Max Workmanship and Finish Well formed and free from burrs. Designation Shall include: a) W cl d) commonly used name; nominal size; number of this standard; and material, whether copper (Cu) or aluminium (Al). Example: A sealing washer of nominal size 10 x 15 made of copper shall be designated as: Sealing Washer 10 x 15 S : 3175 Cu 6. Sampling and Criteria for Conformity Unless otherwise agreed to between the manufacturer and the purchaser, the sampling scheme and criteria for conformity with this standard shall be as laid down in S : 2614l 969 Methods for sampling of fasteners (first revision ). 7. Marking The package shall be marked legibly and indelibly with the designation and manufacturer s name or trademark. 7.1 Certification Marking Details available with the Bureau of ndian Standards. EXPLANATORY NOTE n this revision the scope of the specification has been expanded to include many more sizes of sealing washers required for fuel injection equipment and other pipe unions. Apart from copper, aluminium has also been included as material. n the preparation of this standard assistance has been derived from DN 7603 Sealing washers for pipe unions and screw plugs,. issued by Deutscher Normenausschuss (DNA).
