5 research. The author thinks that Chinese calligraphy and painting app raisal science has two aspects : p ractice and theory, but the theory is it s key point. The main characteristics of the research object involve multidisciplinary characteristic, applied theory characteristic and Chinese traditional esthetic characteristic. As a branch in fine art s disciplines, Chinese calligraphy and painting appraisal science covers the wide realms of the appraisal practice and theory of Chinese calligraphy and painting appraisal. ( 16) The effects of New Life Movement on arts and crafts L U S hi2z hu 86 The New Life Movement initiated by Kuomintang was intended to reform morality and improve social conducts. The movement introduced the new life style into peopleπs food, clothing, shelter and transportation, consequently producing influence on the industrial arts which took peopleπs daily necessities as the object s of design. By putting the practical designs into the domains of politics and sociology, the New Life Movement promoted the development of industrial art s in some degree, but it also put the shackles of ritual on the industrial art design of young China. ( 17) New notions of visual communication design in digital era C H EN H ui 90 The digital era has brought about the rapid expansion of visual communication design, which is consequently reflected in the great development of design in expression, range and effect. The f uture visual communication design is a comprehensive, connotative and fast changing form covering all senses of human beings. This development has inevitably stimulated new notions of design involving technical domination, innovation and popularization of design, diversification of methods and integrity of media. ( 18) Three basic types of actorsπ glamour in performance art Z HA N G Yue 94 The glamour of actors and actresses is the symbol of highest achievement in performance art. In different art forms, the glamour of actors and actresses can be divided into three basic types : divine, skill and quality, which have specific origins, forms, content s and ways to appreciate. These three types also reveal the general laws of the development of art. ( 19) An analysis on Defoeπs text and criticism on colonialism X U Ke2qi 99 Robinson Crusoe was written by Daniel Defoe in the year 1704, which aroused great attention after it sπ p ublication. The novel vividly reflected the spiritual features of the then rising bourgeoisie and has become an important cultural archive of European colonial narratives. It still leaves influence on the field of literature criticism and ideology nowadays. This paper tries to reread Robinson Crusoe and criticize colonialism through analyzing the constant change of Robinson Crusoe, Robinsonπs relation with Friday, the symbolic implication of the island and rapes, massacre and violence described in the text. ( 20) From Shakespeareπs Macbeth to Shaoxing opera General Malong L I Wei2min 104 The Shaoxing opera General Malong is a good inter2textual example of Shakespeareπs Macbeth. Besides reproducing the humanist theme of Shakespeareπs play, it is successf ul in establishing it s own structure so as to plant modern consciousness into this opera. In the transformation between the dramatic notions of reason and emotion, and the transformation between dancing with music and dialogue expression, a new dialogic and inter2textual relationship is established in form and content, way of performance and notions of drama. ( 21) Western Tolkien studies and the strategies of canonizing popular f iction YA N G Ya2ting 108 J. R. R. Tolkienπs imaginative works, with the identity of popular fiction, are marginalized by mainstream criticism for a long time. In order to canonize his works, western Tolkien scholars take strategies such as transforming critical views, institutionalizing Tolkien studies and cooperating with cinema media, thus p roviding an example for the mode of canonization of popular fiction. ( 22) An inter2textual perspective of the cultural archetype of incest and patricide2by using Fuxi, Thunderstorm and Phedre as examples T IA N Zhao2y ao 112 The three plays of Fuxi, Thunderstorm and Phedre all contain the literary archetype of incest and patricide. From the inter2 textual perspective, the uniqueness of the three plays lies in their making good use of this archetype to introduce distinct connotation of times in folk discourse, intellectual discourse and authoritative discourse respectively, presenting totally new literary scenes. From the literary history, this cultural archetype forms a rich literary tradition, which contains significance in the exploration on levels of social reality, culture and life consciousness. ( 23) A comparison between domestic and overseas post2graduate training modes S H I L an2xin, C H EN Yong2ping 117 Po st2graduate training p rogram as a main approach of training high2level p rofessional personnel has p rovided a large number of talent s for various walks of life in China. On the basis of analyzing overseas advanced experience, this paper discusses the measures for improving Chinaπs post2graduate training mode. ( 24) An analysis on training system of improving graduatesπ employment competitiveness L I Pu, YA N G De2xiang 122 Faced with the difficult employment situation for university graduates due to the enrollment expansion since 1998, this paper point s out that the main reason lies in the disorientation and disjunction between university cultivation mechanism and social needs. On the basis of analyzing the necessity of establishing the system of training graduatesπ competitive ability, this paper construct s the f ramework of training system based on system engineering theory and competency theory, involving graduatesπ professional competence model, the evaluation system of their professional competence, the training mechanism of graduatesπ employment competitiveness and the evaluation system of their employment competitiveness. 128
