2 1 Important Information Thank you for choosing Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars for the Nintendo 3DS system. Please note that, for this manual, "Nintendo 3DS" refers to both Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL. Please read this manual carefully before using the software. Please also read your operations manual for more details and tips to help you enjoy your playing experience. IMPORTANT Before using this software, read all content within the Health and Safety Information application on the HOME Menu. To access this application, tap the icon on the HOME Menu, then tap Open and read the contents of each section carefully. When you are finished, press to return to the HOME Menu. You should also thoroughly read your operations manual, including the "Health and Safety Information" section, before using this software. CAUTION - STYLUS USE

3 To avoid fatigue and discomfort when using the stylus, do not grip it tightly or press it hard against the screen. Keep your fingers, hand, wrist and arm relaxed. Long, steady, gentle strokes work just as well as many short, hard strokes. Answering the pleas for help, America sends in the Ghosts: an elite army unit of six superbly trained soldiers, each the expert in his or her field, and each using the most advanced weapons and technology that the U.S. h a s t o o f f e r. U n d e r y o u r d i r e c t command, the Ghosts must neutralize the bandit threat and restore stability to the region. It is your responsibility to train them, equip

6 them, and issue the orders in their missions against hostile forces. Europe is descending into chaos and the Ghosts are becoming entangled in a web of intrigue do you have what it takes to lead the Ghosts to victory? Meet the ghosts Duke Class: Commando Equipment: Assault Rifles, Missile Launchers Special Forces officer. Comes from a long line of West Point graduates. Solid, dependable, caring, and reasonable. Haze Class: Sniper Equipment: Sniper Rifles, Grenades O n e o f t h e l o n g e s t established Ghost squad members. Acts as second-in-command to Duke. Calm and soft-spoken, he is the voice of reason within the squad, even bringing Duke back into line when the heat really turns up. Richter Class: Gunner Equipment: Machine Guns, Grenades Transferred from the Green Berets.

7 Bold and brash, he likes to have f u n w i t h t h e y o u n g e r s q u a d members. Saffron Class: Medic Equipment: PDWs, Medikit Former Navy medic. Looks after the Ghosts like a mom at times, but can also be a strict disciplinarian. Banshee Class: Recon Equipment: Silenced SMGs, Assault Rifles, Grenades, Knives, Stealth system Became a Recon because she prefers to work alone. Fiery temper, which she controls and unleashes at just the right time. Takes no aggravation from anyone friend or foe. Mint Class: Engineer Equipment: Assault Rifles, Drones, Turrets N e w e s t m e m b e r o f t h e squad. Passed out of training with the highest marks in his group. Optimistic, talkative, earnest, and trusting. Ghost Lead

9 3 Gameplay Instructions Profile Creation T o b e g i n t h e game you will b e a s k e d t o create a Player Profile. All your progress in the game will be stored here. Once you have created a profile you can select it again to continue playing. To create a new profile select a profile slot and press. PEC and Rank Persistent Elite Creation (or PEC) is a system to show how good you are as a player by gaining ranks. Each time you finish a mission in Campaign or Skirmish mode you will gain PEC points, shown as eagle symbols. The amount of PEC points you gain depends on the difficulty level you selected for the mission. When you reach certain levels of PEC points you will gain ranks. There are 16 ranks for you to achieve. Main Menu

10 C a m p a i g n : A s t o r y m o d e where you lead a t e a m o f G h o s t s t o prevent both an attempt to seize p o w e r i n R u s s i a a n d destabilization of neighboring countries. Selecting the Campaign mode will begin a new campaign, or continue where you left off. Playing the Campaign mode allows you to customize your Ghosts, their character level and equipment, and increase your PEC rank while following the story. Skirmish: Stand-alone missions against an AI opponent, with a choice of 3 difficulty levels. Skirmish missions are unlocked by completing campaign missions or by reaching a new PEC rank. Completing a skirmish mission can also give you PEC points and help to increase your rank. Multiplayer Mission: Play against a friend, sharing one Nintendo 3DS system. There are no PEC points given for multiplayer missions. Options: Change the preferences for sound and gameplay. Campaign Map The Campaign map displays all

11 the missions that are available to you at the moment. He may p r o v i d e u s e f u l h i n t s a s w e l l. Check the Touch Screen to see parts of the map highlighted for enemies, objectives, deployment positions, and other information.

4 Squad Management Squad Screen From the Squad screen you see which Ghosts will participate in the mission. For most missions you will take all available Ghosts.

Not Selected for Squad: These are the Ghosts that will be left out of the next mission. Squad Size: This shows you how many Ghosts you have added to the squad and how many you may take. You must fill the squad before you can begin the mission. Start: Move the cursor over this button and press to start the mission. Equipment: Move the cursor over a Ghost and press to view and change equipment. Equipment Screen The Equipment screen allows you to select the equipment for your Ghosts before each mission. Use this screen to optimise their fi ghting style to your taste. You are only able to change equipment before you start a mission. Each Ghost can only use one primary, one secondary and one armour item. A t t h e s t a r t o f t h e g a m e t h e Ghosts will not have any choice of

E n e m y : A c h a r a c t e r f r o m t h e enemy s team. Move Range: Displays the area in which the selected character can move. Move and Act Range: Displays the area in which the character can m o v e A N D u s e t h e s e l e c t e d equipment (either firing a weapon, healing with a medikit or deploying a turret). Ghost Command Points: Displays your total command points. Enemy Command Points: Displays the total command points of the enemy team. These skills improve the overall efficiency of Ghosts or their behaviour under specific conditions. Each Ghost has access to some traits that are available only to them. Touch the Trait icons to gain more detailed information for that particular trait.

Mission Objectives: Display the Objectives screen for the current mission. Options: Display the Options menu. Options S a v e G a m e : S a v e t h e current progress in the mission. Load Game: Load the last saved game. Abort Mission: Abort the mission and exits to the Campaign map. Sound and Display: Change the sound and display preferences. End Mission

22 stars you received based on the difficulty level and the objectives you completed. The PEC points, shown as eagles, are used to attain higher ranks a n d u n l o c k S k i r m i s h a n d Multiplayer missions. Eagles are awarded based on the mission difficulty selected. Playing the missions on a harder difficulty level will award you more eagles. Stars are used to level up your characters. They are awarded for objectives completed during a mission. You must complete all p r i m a r y o b j e c t i v e s t o w i n a mission, but secondary objectives are optional. Awards Your Ghosts can level up when they are awarded stars after a successful mission. Each Ghost that participated in the mission can be given a maximum of two stars. Any stars you don t spend are accumulated and you can use them the next time you complete a mission. If the character can receive stars, y o u c a n a s s i g n o n e s t a r b y pressing.
