5 σ(u ) Particle Flow (PF) Algorithm All particles (charged hadrons, neutral hadrons, γ, e, μ) are reconstructed with the PF algorithm (with corresponding calibrations). The list of particles is given to the jet clustering, missing E T (MET or E T miss ), and τ reconstruction algorithms Plus Pileup (PU) per particle identification (PUPPI) Maintain good resolution and energy scale of those physcs objects with PU Maintain good background rejection ifor lepton isolation PAS JME PF E T miss PUPPI E T miss # Vertices 5

10 LHC SUSY Exploration Map Probing a TeV scale at LHC13 No hints of NP (yet) in very diverse search programs Compressed Mass Scenario? m g or q [Simplified Models] MSSM (>100 parameters) - impossible to have more than 100 measurements at the LHC. Consider a way to test a minimal scenario or simplified scenario, first. [R-parity] R-parity conserving SUSY (with a DM candidate) R-parity violating SUSY (with a DM candidate from somewhere else) 10

25 Electroweak Gauginos Squarks Gluinos Summary of Run2 in Covering a large variety of possible final states even with <PU> ~25-50 Setting stringent limits on many SUSY scenarios including compressed mass SUSY. See the public result pages: GeV 2000 GeV 25

26 Cross Sections [1982] W and Z with e, μ Now full measurements CMS Preliminary σ [1995] ttҧ miss with l + jets/b + E T Now full measurements [2012] H(125) with γγ, 4l Now full measurements 1 fb 26

27 Remarks on Run2 and Beyond We may see a deviation from the SM somewhere,,, 2000 GeV The strong coupling α S (Q) (solid line) and its total uncertainty (band) as determined in JHEP 03 (2017) 156 analysis using a 2-loop solution to the RGE as a function of the momentum transfer Q = p T. Combined/As_running_ALL.pdf Measured values the P5' coefficient in the angular analysis of the B 0 K 0 μ + μ decay performed by CMS, compared with previous experimental results and several predictions. Values are measured as a function of the invariant mass of the dimuon system (q 2 ). 27

28 X Events/10 GeV Data Excess? in Inclusive E T miss + Jets X MHT = 693 GeV & HT = 1132 GeV M eff = MHT + HT = 1.83 TeV No b-tagged jet & No isolated lepton Incompatible with W or top mass Invisible Z??? An Excess Not Good Enough 28
