20 The Night We Drove Those Banjos 20 Down Am C F Am Michael Black is my name, and I play in the Carp Camp jam, C Am F Am 'Till so many banjoists came, tried to break up our jam again. F C It was late in the night, just after a break, Am F We were tired, just barely awake, Am F Then came the din, a sound straight from hell, C Am D It was a night I remember oh so well C Am F C Chorus: The night we drove those banjos down, Am And all the fiddles were ringin' C Am F C The night we drove those banjos down, Am And all the camp was a-singin' C Am D F We sang "Na na na nana na, Nana na na nana na na na". Back in the jam we were starting a tune, when Alice cried out "Not again! What is that sound that I hear?" And the banjo players circled our camp. As our leader Dave saw the banjoist crowd, He shouted out "We're gonna play really loud! 'Vladimir's Steamboat'! Play it loud as you can!" And with that, the musical war it began. Chorus Like my friend Dave Firestine, I played hard on my mandolin, And just like Dave Firestine, I wanted this horror to end. We were just a few, but we were proud and brave, And with 'Vladimir's' we finally drove them away. I swear by Biscuits and ravy, that mob Will ne'er come again, so let me tell you, that's a 'Problem Solved'! 20
