Write a sentence with your picture. Memorial Day is a holiday when the American public honors the memories of fallen soldiers. Memorial Day began on May 30, It was formed when a day was declared to decorate the graves of Civil War soldiers. Twenty years later, the name was changed to Memorial Day. Memorial Day is customarily spent visiting cemeteries, decorating grave sites with flowers and flags, visiting war monuments, and attending parades in honor of men and women who have lost their lives in service to our country.
