1 SUMIT VERMA Assitant Professor of Geophysics and ACADEMIC POSITION Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Sciences, University of Texas of the Permian Basin, TX, August 2016 present. Postdoctoral research fellow, Department of Geology and Geophysics, University of Wyoming, WY, September 2015-August EDUCATION PhD. in Geophysics, University of Oklahoma, August, 2015, Norman. Dissertation: Seismic data conditioning for quantitative seismic interpretation of unconventional reservoirs. Advisor: Prof. Kurt J. Marfurt. M.Sc.Tech in Applied Geophysics, June, 2007, Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, India. Thesis: Ground penetrating radar response over coal seam discontinuities. Advisor: Prof. Shalivahan. B.S. in Physics and Math, June, 2004, University of Allahabad, India. RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Reservoir characterization of Mississippi Lime: Target of this project was to map the high porosity chert with the help of petro-physical analysis and seismic interpretation. But, as the seismic data was contaminated with aliased ground roll, I developed and applied a coherent noise suppression workflow to suppress aliased high amplitude broad band ground roll (published in Geophysics ). I also applied prestack structure oriented filtering and 5D interpolation as well as post stack acoustic impedance inversion. After, seismic data conditioning I interpreted the seismic data with help of seismic attributes, and generated porosity volume in order to find high porosity chert sweet spots. (Published in Interpretation ). Reservoir characterization of Barnett Shale: With the integration of seismic data, well logs and core data, I established a workflow for estimation TOC and Brittleness Volumes. Further, I correlated the TOC and Brittleness to production (Published as SEG and AAPG expanded abstracts, a full length paper is under review in Interpretation ). Characterization of Redfork formation (Anadarko Basin) in terms of porous and non-porous rocks, with an integrated approach of petro-physical analysis, seismic (prestack-inversion) and geological analysis and completed the project in August, 2012 working in collaboration with an MS student. I have published a paper in Interpretation on this project.

2 Seismic modeling as an Interpretation tool: I also completed few projects on seismic modeling to evaluate probable interpretation scenarios, this collection is published as a paper in Interpretation. I also worked on modeling of acquisition footprint along with one of my colleague, this paper is accepted in Interpretation. AASPI Software Development: I have written a coherent noise suppression routine and LUM filtering routine for attribute assisted processing and interpretation (AASPI) consortium software. Finding the applicability of developed tools to help seismic interpretation and S/W testing before the release. Carbon Sequestration: Target of this project was to do reservoir characterization and rock physics analysis of rock spring uplift, a potential CO 2 sequestration site. This work is to be submitted in Interpretation. At University of Wyoming: Petroleum Exploration and Production (Spring 2016), for petroleum management undergrads, 8 lectures. Petroleum Geology (Spring 2016), 4 lectures. At University of Oklahoma: 3-D Seismic Interpretation (Fall, 2012 and Fall 2014) In this class, I taught seismic interpretation lab on Petrel (Instructor: Prof. Kurt J. Marfurt). TEACHING EXPERIENCE Quant Seismic Interpretation (Fall, 2013) - In this class, I taught quantitative seismic interpretation lab on Hampson Russel, Petrel and Techlog (Instructor: Prof. Kurt J. Marfurt). Seismic Modeling/Migration (Spring, 2015) - In this class, I taught seismic modeling lab on Tesseral a Tesseral Technologies Inc Software (Instructor: Prof. Kurt J. Marfurt). INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE Internship at BP I worked as summer intern for three months at BP from May, 2014 August, In my project, I analyzed the effect of coals on seismic data. I also worked to find out the benefits and limitations (on seismic interpretation) of reprocessing old data sets with modern seismic processing techniques on a tight sand play. Internship at Anadarko I worked as summer intern for three months at Anadarko Petroleum Corporation from May, 2013 August, My project was on rock property estimation with multi attribute analysis Neural Network approach on Eagle Ford Shale. Generated volumes were used for shale reservoir characterization. Development Geophysicist in Reliance Industries Limited, Mumbai, India, a major Exploration and Production company of India, from July 2007 to July, 2011.

3 Worked on different aspects of Geophysical Field Development: Horizon interpretation of highly sinuous channels; QC of channels marked by Service Company. Seismic (Simultaneous) Inversion Project (completed with my senior colleague). Velocity Modeling for Oil & Gas field; Map-based volumetric estimation. Interpretation of real-time well log data on development wells. Offshore 3D Seismic Acquisition Field Experience and Offshore Drilling-Logging Field Experience (14 days on Drill Ship). GEOSCIENCE SOFTWARE SKILLS Proficient user of Petrel, Hampson Russell, AASPI, VISTA processing and QC, Techlog. Working knowledge of Jason Geoscience Workbench, Landmark suite (Seisworks, DTE, Zmap, Geoprobe), Paradigm, RokDoc. In peer reviewed journals PUBLICATIONS S. Verma, Y. Del Moro, K. J.
