1 KNES Primary School Year 1 Geography Course Outline: Term 1, 2 and 3 Overview. Term 1, 2 and 3 Brief overview of topics to be covered during the year Resources to be used-textbooks, other sources etc Geography Resources Collins: Collins Interactive resources 1 and 2(DVD); World around us teacher and pupil book 1 and 2; First Atlas Learn with maps (book); Mapstart 1(book). Mention cross curricular links, homework etc Art, Science, Math, Literacy Class Rules: If a pupil is absent, it is his/her responsibility to get his/her homework assignment from a classmate and submit it when he/she returns. Homework left at home will be considered as not being done. If a test or deadline on an assignment is missed, the pupil will receive 0% unless he/she can provide a letter from a medical doctor to show the reason that he/she was not able to attend. It is the pupil s responsibility to come to class with the necessary books and other itemsthey are of no value sitting at home. Pupils are to use the washrooms before school and during scheduled breaks. They are not to be asking to leave class to use the washroom except in emergencies which should not occur often. Pupils are to line up immediately at the start of the day or at break time as soon as they hear the bell. No food and/or drink is allowed into class.

Identify the origin of animals both inside and outside Kuwait. 5-7 Journey of Darwin Look at the route of the HMS Beagle and create maps of the path it took. Compare and contrast the different places Darwin visited along the route. Create a travel diary based on Darwin s journey Seeds and Stalks Understand where various countries are located on a world map.

World Flags Exercise. Students will have to identify several flags of the world, spelling will count. The students will also be asked to create a flag of their own and name their country flag.
