Invasive Plants infestations are mapped areas found to contain identified invasive plant species. Invasive plants are mapped by individual species, project and date. All occurrences for all years of sightings are mapped on a single personal geodatabase feature class. Each occurrence is a unique feature of the feature class. Spatial features are not "reused" for multiple occurrences. Inventory, treatment, and treatment monitoring of invasive plants are an important part of the invasive management program. Information collected using these data recording protocols is stored in Natural Resource Information System (NRIS) and
2 Page 2 of 20 the Forest Service Activity Tracking System (FACTS). The Forest Service protocol incorporates the North American Weed Management Association (NAWMA) standards for information collection and data storage. Information can easily be shared with cooperators and other federal agency with the through the International Report. Associated National Application: NRIS, FACTS Purpose: The purpose of this feature class is to display the invasive plant infestations on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. The feature class will be used to provide invasive vegetation information for forest planning and analysis. Supplemental_Information: GDB - Updated GIS acres using the calculate geometry tool. 4/23/2009 po. - Data migrated to the new R3 geodatabase (version 1.2) schema using the Simple Data Loader in ArcCatalog. 12/19/ Metadata completed. 10/1/2007 po. - Reprojected feature class from NAD27 to NAD83 using Batch Project Tool. 3/27/2007 po. - Created polys from graphics in Noxious weed.mxd created by M. White. For Mullein - Used obj level 3, 4, 5 and other selected roads, buffered 15 feet and selected powerlines from flight_hzd_ln, buffered 60. Merged all roads into one record and merged all powerlines into one record. All other species, selected coincident roads or streams (w/ graphics) and buffered 15 feet. Merged according to species. 2/23/07 mk - buffered gps point (along the Blue River) for Salt cedar 0.01 miles to create polygons. Did not merge polys as each site has individual measurements for trees. Put.dbf measurements in gdb table until info entered in NRIS? Added attribute of site number and populated. Added Survey_Type to track Formal, Informal, or Estimated surveys. 2/6/07 mk - buffered gps points (along Hwy 180) for Siberian Elm and Russian olive 0.01 miles to create polygons. Merged points to create one record for elm and one record for olive. 12/19/2006 mk Time_Period_of_Content: Status: Time_Period_Information: Range_of_Dates/Times: Beginning_Date: 2006 Ending_Date: 2007 Currentness_Reference: Most current data available within the stated time period. CFF data are collected by digitizing PBS maps and revised using correction guide information provided by field units. GSTC began producing Vintage 11 CFFs for Region 3 in In preparing for the PBS update, the A/S originally wanted all of the roads shown on the PBS quads. GSTC did as the A/S requested and in
6 Page 6 of provided the A/S with CFFs which contained all roads and draft PBS quad maps showing all of these roads. While reviewing these draft PBS quad maps, a decision was made by the A/S to show only the major roads on the PBS quads. GSTC did as the A/S requested and dropped the requested roads from the final CFFs and PBS quad maps. However, because the A/S wanted to show all of the roads in the new road GIS coverage, the GIS roads obtained from the original CFFs were sent to TVA to be added to the road features found in the final CFFs. The A/S also provided to TVA the original hardcopy PBS quads which showed all of roads in the original CFFs. The A/S highlighted the extent of the road in corresponding colors and corrected and/or added road numbers to the quads as needed.
