Demonstrate your answer with a calculation. iii) Does using a catalyst enable CO 2 and water vapour to generate heat? Why? iv) Another inventor has made a catalyst that will turn CO 2 and water vapour into CH 4 and O 2 when using an electrolytic cell. Give one reason why a catalyst might be necessary for this reaction. B) i) Explain, in terms of collision theory, why raising the temperature of a reaction increases the rate of reaction. ii) Explain, in terms of collision theory, why using a heterogeneous catalyst can increase the rate of reaction.
