Most of our research projects deals with characterizing chemical pollution, relating to water, air, soil and food contamination. Recently, we are developing analytical methods that make use of modified sol-gel or silica gel to remove trace toxic metals from real environmental samples. New organic liqands are prepared and either encapsulated or grafted into sol gel for removal of these metals from polluted water and soil samples. Finally, we also develop novel methods for Spectrophotometric determination of trace metals in real samples employing new organic chelating liqands.
2 Our research interests include the following: 1) Sol-gel filters for removal of toxic metals from a polluted water 2) Silica-gel adsorbents to removing trace metals from environmental samples 3) Spectrophotometric determination of trace metals in real samples employing new organic chelating liqands. 4) Employing organic chelating agents in the Removal of toxic heavy metals from polluted soils and water. 5) Applications of Atomic spectroscopy to trace metal analysis of environmental samples, Indoor and outdoor pollution. 6) Study of indoor and outdoor air quality and health impacts of air pollution 7) Determination and identification of inorganic and organic pollutants in water, air, soil and foods using modern analytical techniques. 8) Development of chromatographic analytical techniques for analysis of real materials such as pharmaceuticals preparations, and environmental samples Teaching interests 1-Wide experiences in teaching graduate and undergraduate students.
