6 An unpavd accss road runs along th north sid of th xisting stram. Th stram was dry during th fild xplorations. A lind pit (old dug wll?) abot1t 3 by 35ft inplan and about 2 to 25 ft in dpth was notd at th wstrn nd of th sit. Watr was notd in th pit about 22 ft from th ground surfac. An oi_l tank was also notd nar th pit. Somrmnants of old concrt foundations wr J{posd along th north portions of th s.it. At prsnt, th ground is ovrgrown with grass, shrubs and. trs. A papaya fild was nar th wst sid of th sit. NTERPRE''ATON OF SOL CONDTONS FroD1 th opn pits. and laboratory tst rsults; th _soils may b approximatd as. follows: Alluvial_ dposits of ich" clays with bouldrs and siltysandy dposits mixd with bouldrs to about 7 to 15 ft, th dpths of th tst pits. Watr was not notd in th opn pits during th fild x];>lorations. 3
7 Variations to th abov soil C:onditions ar to b xpctd btwn opn pits and in localizd aras..for mor dtaild dscriptio]ls of soils ncountrd in th opn pits, rfr to th opn pit logs. DSCUSS:LQtij' AND RECOMMENDATONS Th proposd plan i.s to align a portion of th north braqch of Makaha Stram around th ast and north sids of an xisting wast stabilization pond. A channl about 1,3 ft in lngtl) and about 2 ft wid (bottom of channl) at th strn nd and about 15 ft wid at th wstrn nd is proposd. Th south or lft.bank of th channl (along th wast stabilization pond) would b formd by a brm about 15 to 2 ft in hight. About 15 ft. width is proposd across th top of th brm. Th north or right bank of th channl would b about 15 ft high. Th bank will b formd niostly by brms. Som cuts up to about 1 ft in hight will b involvd. Th cuts would b toppd or cappd with fills to form th 15ft high channl wall. Channl Slop Bcaus of th clayy surfac soils ncountrd in som of.th tst pits, flat slops ar gnrally prfrrd. 4. ; '
