PARTICIPATION This competition is open to community gardening groups, Britain in Bloom groups, Affiliated Societies, It s Your Neighbourhood and any other community groups. Only one entry per group is permitted. There is no charge to enter the competition but you will need to cover the cost of travelling to the show and for your plants and props. Containers are supplied by the RHS and will be ready for you to plant with your plant material on arrival at the showground, and will be retained by the RHS after the show. Compost will be provided. The containers are circular and have the dimensions of 60cm height x 50cm diameter. Please see picture of containers below. 4 Containers should include a minimum of 4 different plants for each section e.g. a minimum of 4 for Eat me and 4 for Drink me You will need to give your container a title indicative of your plant choices. For example Summer Salad and Cocktails. Your title can also have relevance to your community. Please see the Inspiration section for a few examples of plant species and arrangements. PLANTS/PLANTING. Props and accessories are permitted and must be detailed in your application form. They should be tasteful and enhance the overall message of your container. Due to the size of container it is recommended that plants are removed from your pots and planted directly into the compost. This will also help in keeping plants looking good throughout the show and well-watered. When planted there should be complete cover of plants and foliage with minimal amount of compost showing. Cut flowers and artificial plants are not permitted. The use of colourant or paint on natural plant material is not permitted. STAGING Each group is responsible for bringing their plants to the show on Monday 4 June between the hours of pm. If you are accepted further information will follow. A maximum of two adults will be permitted to access the staging area within the showground to plant up the container provided. The RHS will then move the container into its final position. You will need to bring gloves, planting tools and a watering can with you. If in any doubt please contact the show team for advice. RISK ASSESSMENTS If you are accepted into the show each group will be required to submit a risk assessment to the RHS. The RHS will provide guidelines and an example risk assessment with the acceptance confirmation. Passes to access the show will only be issued once the risk assessment has been received. COLLECTION You can collect your plants and props on Monday 11 June from 08:00 17:00 or alternatively the RHS can donate these to charity. Please make sure that you have checked the relevant box on your application form.

Please refer to the RHS website link for our plant health policy: hs.org.uk/science/ plant-health-in-gardens/plant-health-policy. Exhibitors should ensure they comply with EU regulations for plant importations: gov.uk/guidance/plant-health-controls Telephone: planthealth.info@apha.gsi.gov.uk. Xylella fastidiosa The bacterium Xylella fastidiosa is currently one of the biggest risks to the UK horticultural industry and the wider landscape. All host plants (ec.europa.eu/food/plant/plant_health_biosecurity/legislation/emergency_measures/xylellaf astidiosa/susceptible_en) must be accompanied by a plant passport prior to movement across the EU. The UK government and industry are taking action to prevent the introduction of Xylella and have identified hosts which are considered to present the highest
9 risk of introducing the bacterium into the UK and have also been associated with most outbreaks in continental Europe. These are: Coffea spp. (coffee) Hebe spp. (hebe) Lavandula spp. (lavender) Nerium oleander (oleander) Olea europaea (olive) Polygala myrtifolia (polygala) Prunus spp. (cherry, plum etc.) Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) Spartium junceum (Spanish broom). In response to this risk, the RHS has decided that plants belonging to any of these nine high risk plant groups may only be exhibited at RHS Shows if they are from UK-sourced and grown material. This is defined as those having been propagated from seed in the UK or having been grown in the UK for a minimum of 12 months preceding their use in an RHS Show. Exhibitors should familiarise themselves with the following documents: gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/553730/xylellafastidiosa-impl-trade.pdf planthealthportal.defra.gov.uk/pests-and-diseases/highprofile-pests-and-diseases/xylella/
