Each chiller has a corresponding DX condensing unit located on the roof outside of the penthouse. Overall Condition Date Installed 01/01/1990 Comments With the 2000 building addition, this system was tied to the revised chilled water system (fed from the campus loop) to serve as a backup. The 6" chilled water supply and return lines from the 2000 project tie into a primary/secondary chilled water loop in the penthouse. This loop has an 8" secondary loop, with primary loops tying into it from each of the four chillers and their associated (simplex) pumps. This backup loop is normally valved off from the campus chilled water system. Fair Remaining Useful Life 7 Years Nominal Useful Life: 30 Years Replacement Cost $135,000 This system is rarely (if ever) used due to the reliability of the campus chilled water system. However, per Virgil Reason at this CITES facility, these chiller systems are well maintained and should operate correctly if called into service. This system is being considered for use as part of a minor project to service the campus chilled water lines serving this building. Two secondary loop pumps (that circulate the chilled water to the building when the backup system is used) are each 20 HP pumps, installed in 1990. Only one pump runs at a time (100% redundancy). These pumps have variable-frequency drives (VFDs). 0017 - PAGE 5

This chilled water main was installed as part of the 2000 building addition. Overall Condition Date Installed 01/01/2000 Comments The piping enters the building at the southwest corner of the 2000 building addition. It serves the air handlers in the lower level of the building addition, and also has 6" supply and return piping routed to the penthouse of the 1971 original building. The 6" supply and return pipes to the 1971 original building penthouse tie into a backup chilled water system (see backup chilled water system component description). 4" taps for future use are provided on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the 1971 original building. The chilled water is metered. The piping in the lower level of the building addition has 10" taps for future expansion. Good Remaining Useful Life 17 Years Nominal Useful Life: 30 Years Replacement Cost $130,500 The 10" taps for future use suggest that the present building is using less that half of the cooling capability provided by the 12" chilled water service to the building. 0017 - PAGE 7

Overall Condition Date Installed 01/01/1990 Comments There is an 8" piping header that runs around the perimeter of the penthouse on the roof of the 1971 original building. Five different roof-mounted Liebert drycoolers tie into the main piping header. These are all 8-fan drycooler models. This installation dates from 1990. Since the initial installation, three existing fluid coolers have been repurposed and added to the Liebert loop: one McQuay model, and two older SnyderGeneral models. Each of the 8 drycoolers on the Liebert Loop has its own local (primary) circulation pump. The main 8" piping header has a 6" loop tying into it. This 6" loop serves the third floor CRAC units. Two circulation (secondary) base-mounted pumps provide the flow through this loop. The pumps are located in the penthouse of the 1971 original building. These pumps are 100% redundant (only one pump runs at any time). The main 8" piping header also appears to have a 4" loop tying into it (labeled as a "secondary" loop). This loop serves a single Liebert CRAC on the second floor. Two circulation (secondary) base-mounted pumps provide the flow through this loop. The pumps are located in the penthouse of the 1971 original building. Two existing pumps (that previously served a piping loop to a Cray computer) have been repurposed to serve this piping loop. These pumps are 100% redundant. LLDC-5: Located at the southwest corner of the roof of the 1971 original building, on structural steel support. There are three drycoolers/fluid coolers that were added to the Liebert Loop at a later date: McQuay Fluid Cooler: Located at the south end of the roof of the 1971 original building, on structural steel support.
