Thank you for your interest in the Center City Connector Streetcar. In this weekly update, you ll find information about ongoing construction for the 1st phase of utility work in Pioneer Square. UPDATES ON LANE AND STREET CLOSURES Westbound lane closure on S Jackson St between 2nd Ave S and 1st Ave S We expect to open this section of S Jackson St by May 25 Temporary closures of southbound 1st Ave S between Yesler Way and S Main St weekdays, 9:30 AM 3 PM These closures are expected to conclude by the end of May Northbound 1st Ave lane closures: We expect northbound 1st Ave S between S Jackson St and S Washington St to reopen to traffic in July Northbound 1st Ave S between S Washington St and Yesler Way will remain closed until installation of the new water main is complete at the 1st Ave and Yesler Way intersection. This is expected in late July. The extended duration of northbound 1st Ave S closures between S Jackson and Yesler Way is due to utility conflicts encountered at S Main St. We thank you for your patience as we complete this work. Beginning as soon as May 23, northbound 1st Ave will be closed between Yesler Way and Columbia St 24 hours per day. This long-term closure will be accompanied by a southbound curb lane closure between Columbia St and Yesler Way. Construction staging will remain on the north side of S Main St, west of 1st Ave S, and a new staging area will be added on Cherry St, east of 1st Ave Upcoming water shutdown SHORT NIGHTTIME WATER SHUTDOWN TO OCCUR IN EARLY HOURS OF MAY 29 Some customers in Pioneer Square will experience a temporary water shutdown tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, from 1:30 AM to 4:30 AM. This shutdown is required to test the valves on the water main prior to an upcoming long (10-12 hour) shutdown. Crews may be seen staging equipment as early as 10 PM on May 28. The shutdown will affect customers located on: Yesler Way from 1st Ave to 2nd Ave 2nd Ave Ext S from S Main St to Yesler Way

Building managers and representatives will be notified in advance and asked to share the shutdown information with their tenants. If you're unsure of whether this water shutdown will occur in your building, please contact your property owner or their representative. Utility construction in Pioneer Square: What to expect the week of May 20 1ST AVE S FROM S KING ST TO S JACKSON ST Crews will continue roadway grading and paving. This work requires a lane closure on northbound 1st Ave S between S King and S Jackson streets Roadway striping Expect construction impacts such as odor from hot asphalt and increased noise, vibration, dust, truck activity, and exhaust S JACKSON ST FROM OCCIDENTAL AVE S TO 1ST AVE S We expect westbound S Jackson to be open to traffic by May 25 Crews will continue roadway grading and paving Roadway striping (intermittent closures necessary) Expect construction impacts such as odor from hot asphalt and increased noise, vibration, dust, truck activity, and exhaust This work is weather dependent 1ST AVE S FROM S JACKSON ST TO S MAIN ST Crews will continue installing storm drainage catch basins at S Main St. Crews will also begin installing a side water main at S Main St east of 1st Ave S. This work requires pavement breaking and vacuum excavation. Both directions of S Main St east of 1st Ave S will be closed May 21 23 during work hours (7 AM 5 PM) 1ST AVE S FROM S MAIN ST TO S WASHINGTON ST Crews will continue installing a side water main at S Washington St, water service connections, and storm drainage. This work requires pavement breaking and vacuum excavation. 1ST AVE S FROM S WASHINGTON ST TO YESLER WAY Crews will continue installing a side water main at S Washington St. This work requires pavement breaking and vacuum excavation.

Installing the temporary water main on 1st Ave between Yesler Way and Cherry St. 1ST AVE S FROM YESLER WAY TO CHERRY ST Crews will continue potholing to confirm utility locations. This work requires sawcutting, pavement breaking, and excavation. Crews will continue installing and begin testing the temporary water main on the sidewalks along both sides of 1st Ave Northbound lanes along 1st Ave between Yesler Way and Columbia St will be closed intermittently until May 23 when a full around-the-clock closure will begin. Detour signs will be posted. 1ST AVE S FROM CHERRY ST TO COLUMBIA ST Crews will continue potholing to confirm utility locations. This work requires sawcutting, pavement breaking, and excavation.

Crews may begin installing a temporary water main on the sidewalks along both sides of 1st Ave Northbound lanes along 1st Ave between Yesler Way and Columbia St will be closed intermittently until May 23 when a full around-the-clock closure will begin. Detour signs will be posted. ONGOING IMPACTS Please also refer to updates on lane and street closures, listed above Intermittent lane closures on S Jackson St, S Main St, and S Washington St for water main and drainage construction Intermittent lane closures on Yesler Way, Cherry St, and Columbia St for potholing work Permanent parking removal along both sides of 1st Ave S between S Jackson St and Yesler Way Long-term temporary parking and load zone restrictions: On both sides of 1st Ave between Yesler Way and Marion St On the north and south sides of S Main St just east of 1st Ave S In the yellow-striped load zone on the north side of S Washington St just east of 1st Ave S In the red-striped no parking zone on the north side of S Washington St just west of 1st Ave S Typical construction hours are 7 AM 5 PM, Monday Saturday. Construction-related noise may be heard as early as 6:30 AM as crews refuel equipment and begin staging for the day. Occasional night and weekend work Typical construction impacts such as increased dust, noise, vibration, and truck activity Other nearby work AREAWAY REPAIR ON THE WEST SIDE OF 1ST AVE BETWEEN COLUMBIA AND MARION STREETS The Seattle Department of Transportation is repairing an underground areaway adjacent to the Colman Building on the west side of 1st Ave near Marion St. Areaways are cavities that were created when the grade level of the street was changed, and typically sidewalks are over the areaways. The areaway foundation walls have deteriorated over time and need repair to prevent them from failing. Anticipated construction impacts include: Work is anticipated to last approximately 3 months, beginning as early as May 29

Typical construction hours are 7 AM 5 PM, Monday Friday 24/7 temporary closure of the western lane of southbound 1st Ave from Marion St to mid-block of 1st Ave between Marion St and Columbia St for the duration of the areaway repair Temporary sidewalk impacts at the southwest corner of 1st Ave and Marion St The width of the sidewalk from UPS store to the north end of the Starbucks Coffee shop will be temporarily reduced for the duration of this construction Increased dust, noise, vibration and truck activity Access to businesses will be maintained at all times PUGET SOUND ENERGY PSE's streetcar-related natural gas main relocations in downtown Seattle have concluded pending finalization of the City of Seattle's independent technical review of the project.
