Report on activities in Kyrgyzstan devoted to 16-September International day for the preservation of ozone layer 1. On 16 th September 2011 Republican public association RAC Ecoholod carried out an ecological action HCFC phase out: a unique opportunity in assembly hall of the vocational school #93. The main goal of the action was to inform the population and refrigeration technicians on problems of ozone layer protection and climate change issues. Students of vocational schools #93,#94 and #3 and Kyrgyz State technical university, RAC refrigeration technicians and teachers of educational institutions, as well as the academician of the International academy of cold, professor, dean, head of the department Refrigerating techniques of the Moscow State University Babakin B.S. (Moscow city, Russia) took part at this action. Totally about 80 people took part at this activity. Within the framework of the action the pupils of secondary school #66 of Bishkek city showed the performance Save the ozone shield of the Earth. The representatives of the National Ozone center made presentations on problems of HCFC phase out, as well as on global problems of ozone layer preservation and climate change. The special visitor of the action professor Babakin B.S. made a presentation on modern ozonefriendly refrigeration technologies. The exhibition of modern equipment on ozone-friendly methods of servicing and exhibition of information materials on problems of ozone layer preservation and impacts of UV radiation on human health was organized at the hall.

The contest of posters was organized among students of vocational schools #93 and 3 on a theme: Save the ozone layer of the Earth. The winners of the competition, who prepared best three posters, were awarded with memorable presents. Upon the end of the action successful young specialists (refrigeration technicians) graduated from these vocational schools in 2010, 2011 were awarded with modern equipment on HCFC recovery and recycling. Also the informational materials on problems of ozone layer preservation, impacts of UV radiation and in sphere of refrigeration equipment were disseminated among all participants of the action.

The representatives of mass media were invited to this event. Articles about the action were published in the following Internet resources: www.knews.kg, www.ekois.net, www.kabar.kg. The action was broadcasted on republican TV. (17.09.2011, TV channel KTR, program Zamana, 10:00). Special banners devoted to International day of ozone layer preservation 16 September International day of ozone layer preservation, 2011 HCFC phase out is a unique opportunity, Save the sky: protect yourself protect the ozone layer were prepared.

- In honor of International day of ozone layer preservation the UN Secretary General s message was translated into Russian language, copied and disseminated at schools, universities, nongovernmental organizations, mass media, and placed on web-site of Ozone center. - Leaflets 16-September International day of ozone layer preservation in Russian language (300 copies) were prepared and published, which were disseminated during the action, as well as at schools and universities. 2. On 16 th September members of the public ecologic association Kaiberen, faculty of the department on environmental protection and natural resources conservation of the Institute of mining carried out an ecological action Save ozone save the Earth devoted to 16 th September International day of ozone layer protection for students of the university. Teachers of the institute and more than 60 students took part in this action. Within the action s framework the head of the department on environmental protection and natural resources conservation Bekbolotova A.K., teachers and students of senior courses made presentations. Students presented the results of the survey What do you know about ozone layer depletion? specially carried out among population, in particular among students. This kind of activity has been carried out since last year. According to their survey most of the people is aware of ozone layer problems owing to mass media. Students held an exhibition of Ozone center s publications on ozone layer protection at the hall of the institute. Leaflets, information bulletins, brochures about the problems of the ozone layer depletion were disseminated to all students and teachers. The action ended with festive fireworks of balloons, which symbolize the recovery of the ozone layer. The following materials were prepared for the action: - informational leaflets «What is ozone layer of the Earth?», «Ultraviolet radiation, its impact on live organisms»; - reports, - posters by students of the 4 th grade «Ozone is a defender of the planet»;

On 19 th and 21 st September the senior lecturer of the department Technology of the agricultural production processing of the technological faculty of the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University Osmonalieva K.N. organized a workshop 16-September is an International ozone day. Teachers of the faculty presented reports on ozone layer depletion problems and effects of ultraviolet radiation on environment. Besides the students of the university, the teachers of the vocational schools of Issyk-Kul, Naryn, Chyi, Talas, Osh regions participated at the workshop. Within the framework of the action newspapers, brochures, leaflets, information bulletins about the problems of ozone layer depletion were disseminated to all students and teachers.
