Heat wave prevailed in Northern parts on 27 th and in the parts of State on 30 th April. Rainfall also occurred at isolated places on 29 th May in Punjab. Hot day conditions prevailed in Western parts of Haryana on 1 st and in parts on 2 nd May. Rain / thundershowers occurred at isolated places on 3 rd in Haryana. Weather remained mainly dry during rest days of the period. Mainly dry weather likely over the region. However isolated dust-storm/ thunderstorm activity is likely over plains of the State. Except for the crops grown at Sangur and Bhatinda districts, apply frequent irrigation to sugarcane, sunflower and cotton in all the districts of Punjab as there was no rain during last few weeks and mainly dry weather is likely over of the State during next three days and the temperature is still above 40 0 C. As there was rain at Sangur and Bhatinda districts during last week apply irrigation as per requirement. Apply frequent irrigation to sugarcane, sunflower and cotton in all the districts of Haryana as there was no rain during last few weeks and mainly dry weather is likely over of the State during next three days and the temperature is still above 40 0 C in some places in the State. In order to prevent sunflower from wind damage and inclement weather from shattering of seeds, cut the crop, if matured, and solar dry it at safer places. Weather condition is favourable for of sugarcane, rabi oilseeds and wheat. Rajasthan Duststorm / Thunderstorm/ Light rainfall recorded at isolated places in Jaipur, Kota and Udaipur divisions. Weather remained mainly dry in rest of the state. Isolated duststorm / thunderstorm may occur over Rajasthan towards evening / night. Temperatures over Rajasthan are likely to remain 42-44 0 C. Apply frequent irrigation to zaide moong and zaide fodder in all the districts of the State as duststorm / thunderstorm may occur only at isolated places over Rajasthan towards evening / night and day temperatures are likely to remain between 42 & 44 0 C. Continue of cotton crops with adequate irrigation facilities. Select varieties from RG- 8, RG-18 and Bikaneri. Apply light irrigation after for better germination of crop. Uttar Pradesh

Weather was dry in all divisions of U.P. on 1 st May, mainly dry in Jhansi, Agra divisions and dry in remaining divisions of U.P. on 2 nd May, Rain occurred at isolated places in Allahabad, Jhansi divisions and was mainly dry in remaining divisions of U.P. on 3 rd May. Mainly dry weather likely over the State. However, isolated dust-storm / thunderstorm activity is likely over plains of Uttar Pradesh. Except Allahabad, Barabanki, Lucknow, Sultanpur in East U.P and Jhansi, Shahjahanpur in West UP apply irrigation to sugarcane, vegetables, sunflower, mango in all the districts as there was practically no rain and mainly dry weather is likely over the region for next three days and also increase in evaporation due to prevailing high temperature. As there was rain in the above mentioned districts during last week, apply irrigation as per the soil moisture condition. Burn sugarcane plants affected with red rot. To control white ant in sunflower, spray the solution of chloropyriphos 20EC @ 3.75 litre / ha. Himachal Pradesh Rain / thunder shower occurred at isolated places during the week in the State. Mainly dry weather is likely over the State. As there was no significant rain during last week in all the districts of the State and mainly dry weather is likely over the State for next three days, apply irrigation to peas, onion, summer vegetables and moong. Attack of downey mildew is reported in the fields of seed crop of onion. For control spray Redomil M-Z @ 25g per 10 litres of water. Attack of aphids is reported in the seed crop of cole crops. For control spray Rogor @ 1ml per litre of water. This is proper time for of bhindi in middle hills (var. Prabhani Kranti, Arka Anamika), frenchbean (var. Conender) and of nursery of cucumber, summer squash, bitter gourd and ridge gourd in poly houses. It is time for transplanting and nursery of brinjal (Arka Nidhi, PPC), Capsicum (California wonder) and tomato in poly houses. Uttaranchal Mainly dry weather prevailed during the period. Sky remained mainly clear to partly cloudy. Mainly dry weather likely over the region. As there was no rain in the State during last few weeks and mainly dry weather is likely over the state for next few days, apply irrigation to mango, litchi, apple, sugarcane and vegetables. Spray Sulfex (2.5 g / lit) or Karathane (0.1 %) or Bavistin (0.1%) to protect mango from powdery mildew disease. Complete spraying of 20 ppm (90 ml in 200 litres) to prevent fruit fall in mango. Jammu & Kashmir Rain / thundershowers occurred at isolated places on 1 st and 2 nd May. Weather remained mainly dry on 3 rd May in J & K State.

Mainly dry weather is likely over J & K divisions. There was no significant rainfall in the State during last week and dry weather is likely to prevail for the next three days. Under the circumstances, apply required irrigation to oats, lentil and wheat to bring the soil moisture to its field capacity. Delhi Sky remained partly cloudy with surface winds ranging between 2 6 knots. Weather remained dry. Mainly clear sky, likely to be partly cloudy towards afternoon, evening with possibility of thunder development accompanied with squall in some areas. As there was no significant rainfall during last few weeks and dry weather is likely to prevail over the State for next three days, apply irrigation to summer vegetable crops, onion, green gram, black gram and fodder crops. Continue of arhar and Pusa Chetki variety of radish with irrigation facilities. Select varieties like Upas 120 and T21 for of arhar. Southern Region (AP, Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Kerala) Kerala Rain/ thundershower occurred at isolated places in Kerala on 3 rd prevailed on 2 nd May. Rain / thundershowers likely to occur at a few places over the State. and mainly dry weather There was no significant rainfall in Kerala during last week and rainfall is likely to occur at a few places for the next three days. Under the circumstances, apply required irrigation to plantation crops and pepper depending on rainfall situation. Attack of bud rot disease is reported in rubber. Spray Copper Oxy Chloride on a non rainy day to control the disease. Fungal attack is reported in pepper. Spray Bordeaux mixture on a non rainy day to control the attack. Attack of Mahali disease is reported in areca nut. Spray Bordeaux mixture on a non rainy day to control the attack. Attack of bud rot disease is reported in coconut. Spray Indofil M-45 @ 4gm per liter of water on a non rainy day. Tamilnadu Hot day conditions prevailed over some parts of Coastal Tamilnadu on some days and heat wave conditions prevailed over parts of North Coastal Tamilnadu and over parts of North Tamilnadu during last week. Dry weather prevailed over Tamilnadu on 1 st, 2 nd May. Rainfall occurred at isolated places over Tamilnadu on 3 rd May. Rain / thundershowers likely at a few places over the State. There was no significant rainfall in all the districts during last week and rain / thundershowers likely at a few places over the State for next three days. Under the circumstances, apply required irrigation to navarai rice, early sugarcane, groundnut, pulses and millets depending

on rainfall situation. Karnataka Rainfall occurred at a few places on 3 rd, at isolated places on 2 nd over South Interior Karnataka. Over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka, rainfall occurred at isolated places on 3 rd May. Dry weather prevailed on the remaining days over the state. Rain / thundershowers are likely at isolated places over Karnataka. Except for the crops grown at Chitradurga, Davangere and Mysore districts in South Karnataka, apply frequent irrigation to summer rice, summer groundnut, summer sunflower and sugarcane in all the districts of the State as there was no rain during last few weeks and mainly dry weather is likely over of the State during next three days and the temperature is still above 40 0 C. As there was rain at Chitradurga, Davangere and Mysore districts during last week apply irrigation as per requirement. Maintain 3 5 cm of water in the field of rice. Release predators like Dipha sp, adopt wider spacing and inter-cropping with soyabean and pulses of short duration for ratoon sugarcane to control wooly aphids in Mysore, Mandya, Hassan, Bidar & Bagalore districts. Andhra Pradesh Isolated rain occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on 28 th to 30 th April & 2 nd May, and Rayalseema on 28 th and Telangana on 2 nd May. Weather has been mainly dry over Rayalaseema on 3 rd May, over Telangana on 28 th and 30 th April. Weather has been dry elsewhere over the State during the week. Isolated rain / thunder showers are likely to occur over Andhra Pradesh. Heat wave conditions prevailed over South Coastal AP during last week. All the crops are at stage. Hence, complete of rabi maize, sunflower, rice, groundnut and pulse crops immediately to avoid shattering of grains. Eastern Region (Assam, Bihar, Sikkim, West Bengal) Assam Light to moderate rain occurred at many places with isolated heavy falls on 2 nd, at a few places on 3 rd and weather was mainly dry on 1 st May over the State. Rain / thundershowers likely at a few places over the State. As there was no significant rain in the State during last week and rain is likely to occur at a few places during next three days, apply irrigation to summer vegetables, jute and maize crops depending on rainfall situation. Maintain 3 5 cm water in early ahu rice field. Infestation of insects like Rice hispa, Yellow stem borer and Gallmidge is reported in early ahu rice in few localities. For control of pests like Hispa, Stem borer and Gall midge of early ahu rice plant protection measures should be taken on a non-rainy day when one adult per hill is noticed with monocrotophos 40 EC @ 1.5 ml per litre or chloropyriphos 20 EC @ 2 ml per litre of water. For management of yellow stem borer advocate Trichograma joponicum @ 50,000 / ha with six releases. Infestation of insects like Bihar hairy caterpillar, Semi looper, Yellow mite and Stem weevil and diseases is reported in jute in few localities.

For control of Bihar hairy caterpillar, Semi looper, Yellow mite and Stem weevil, spray Fenitrothion 50 EC @ 1 ml or Endosulphon 35 EC @ 2 ml / litre of water on a non-rainy day. Infestation of Fruit fly is reported in summer vegetables in few localities. Harvest and damage the fruits infected by Fruit fly in cucurbits and use bait to capture the fruit fly so that the pest may be managed below ETL (Economic Threshold Level). West Bengal During the said period very light rain occurred at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal on 1 st, moderate to heavy rain at most places along with heavy rain at few places on 2 nd, light to moderate rain at most places along with heavy rain at one or two places on 3 rd. However moderate rain occurred at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal on 3 rd May. Weather was mainly dry over the state during rest of the period. Rain / thundershowers with isolated squall are likely at a few places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and isolated over the rest region. As rain / thundershowers with isolated squall are likely at a few places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal for next three days, apply irrigation depending on rainfall situation to sugarcane, sesame, groundnut and green gram in the districts of this region except Malda and Coochbehar. As there was excess rain in Malda and Coochbehar during last week, apply irrigation in these districts depending on soil stored moisture and rainfall situation, if required. As there was no significant rain in the districts of Gangetic West Bengal during last week and rain / thundershowers are likely only at isolated places for next three days over this region, apply required irrigation to the crops in these districts. Continue of aus rice and jute in North Bengal on a non-rainy day. Select varieties of aus rice from IET 826, CR 126-42-1, IR 36, IET 2233, IET 1444 (Rasi), Culture 1 etc. Bihar Rain occurred at one or two places on 27 th April & 3 rd May and weather was dry during rest days. Rain / thundershowers with isolated squall are likely at isolated places over the state. There was no significant rainfall in the state during last week and rain / thundershowers with isolated squall are likely to occur only at isolated places over the State for the next three days. Under the circumstances, apply required irrigation to Summer vegetables, maize, moong, fodder and fruit crops to bring the soil moisture to its field capacity. If hopper and other insects are seen in rice, spray Monocrotophos @ 1 litre / ha. Monitor mango and litchi crops for fruit fly and use domestically prepared gur /oil mixed fruit fly traps. Sikkim Sky remained generally cloudy during the period. Rain / thunder showers along with isolated squall is likely to occur at a few places over the State. There was deficient rainfall in the State during last week and rainfall is likely to occur at a few places for the next three days. Under the circumstances, apply required irrigation to orange, maize, potato and large cardamom depending on rainfall situation. Rouge out chirke and foorkey affected large cardamom plants and destroy them by burning.

Central Region (Gujarat, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, MP & Orissa) Gujarat Weather remained dry. Weather will be mainly dry over Gujarat State, Diu, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli. As there was no rain in the State for past few weeks and mainly dry weather will prevail for next three days, apply irrigation to sugarcane, summer groundnut and summer bajra to bring the soil moisture to its field capacity. Apply second split i.e. remaining dose of nitrogenous fertilizer (30 kg / ha) at tillering stage at 40 45 days after transplanting of summer rice as top dressing. Apply fertilizer after weeding out operation and keeping small amount of water in the field. Maintain 3 5 cm water in the field after 2 3 days of application of fertilizer. If summer groundnut crop appears yellowish spray mixture of 100 gms ferrous sulphate + 10 gms citric acid dissolved in 10 liters of water and spray over the crop in 500 liters of water per hectare. Chattisgarh Weather over many parts of the State will remain hot and dry. However, there is a possibility that isolated places of the State may experience thunder storm towards afternoon / evening. Except for the crops grown at Bastar and Surguja districts, apply frequent irrigation to sugarcane, onion, sunflower, groundnut, sesame, green gram and also to early sown summer vegetables in all the districts of the State as there was no rain during last couple of weeks and no significant rain is likely to occur and weather will remain hot and dry over the State during next three days. As there was rain at Bastar and Surguja districts during last week, apply irrigation as per requirement. Continue of summer vegetables like ladies finger, beans, bottle gourd etc. Maharashtra Light rain occurred at isolated places in South Konkan and East Vidarbha. Mainly dry weather prevailed over rest of the State. Rain/ Thunder showers are likely to occur at isolated places over South Madhya Maharashtra and South Konkan & Goa. Mainly dry weather will prevail over rest of the State. As there was no significant rainfall during last week in most of the districts of the State and no significant rainfall is likely to occur for next three days with high day temperature, apply frequent irrigation to sugarcane, summer groundnut, sunflower, green gram and maize and also to already sown irrigated cotton to supplement the high rate of transpiration from the crops. Apply remaining dose of nitrogen (40 kg N / ha) as top dressing in summer rice. Apply fertilizer after weeding out operation and keeping small amount of water in the field. Maintain 3 5 cm water in rice field after 2 3 days of application of fertilizer. Start of matured crops in Sindhudurg district. Continue of irrigated cotton. For select the seeds from improved varieties like L.R.H. 5166, J.L.H. 168 or hybrid varieties from Phule 492, N.H.H. 44. Use 8-10 Kg. / ha of improved variety & 2.5-3 Kg. / ha of hybrid variety for. Madhya Pradesh

Light rain occurred at isolated places over South east M.P. on 2 nd and 3 rd May, and dry weather prevailed over the rest of the State for the remaining period. Weather will be mainly hot and dry over the state. However, there is a possibility that isolated places in north west M.P. may experience dust storm / thunder storm and isolated places in east M.P. may experience thunder storm towards afternoon / evening. Apply frequent irrigation to sugarcane and moong to make the soil moist which will help germination as mainly dry and hot weather is likely over the State with possibility of only isolated dust storm / thunder storm in north west M.P. and isolated thunder storm in east M.P. towards afternoon / evening. Orissa Rain fall occurred at a few places over Orissa on 3 rd May and at isolated places on remaining days. Light rain / thundershower likely to occur at isolated places over Orissa. Except the crops grown at Angul, Bhadrakh, Bolangir, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Keonjhargarh, Sundargarh districts, apply irrigation to pulses, vegetables, groundnut and sugarcane in all the remaining districts of the State as there was no rainfall during last week and light rain / thundershower likely to occur at isolated places over the region for next three days. Postpone irrigation or apply light irrigation in the above mentioned districts depending on the soil moisture. At five months stage of sugarcane crop go for propping by combining plants of two rows so that the crop do not lodge by wind. Withdraw water 15 days before harvest of the dalua rice field. It was deficient over the rest of the country outside Nagaland-Manipur- Mizoram-Tripura, Gujarat Region, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and coastal Karnataka, where it was scanty. TEMPERATURES: Heat wave conditions prevailed on 4 to 5 days in Punjab, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu and on 1 day each in Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh and coastal Andhra Pradesh and at isolated places on 1 day in Haryana. Hot day conditions prevailed on 1 to 2 days in Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Haryana, Marathwada and east Madhya Pradesh and at isolated places on 1 day each in Punjab and Marathwada. Day temperatures were appreciably to markedly above normal on 3 days in Srinagar. They were appreciably above normal on 4 to 6 days in Arunachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Punjab and Jammu and on 1 to 3 days in Assam & Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Srinagar, west Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka. They were above normal on 4 to 7 days in west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and north interior Karnataka and on 1 to 3 days in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, West Bengal & Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat Region, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Chattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal & south interior Karnataka. WEATHER AND ASSOCIATED SYNOPTIC FEATURES: (1) Last week s Cyclonic Storm Mala moved in a northnortheasterly direction and on 27 th it intensified into a Severe Cyclonic Storm over the Southeast Bay. Moving

in a northnortheasterly direction towards the Arakan coast, it further intensified into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm on 27 th evening over the east central & adjoining southeast Bay. Continuing to move towards Arakan coast on 28 th, it crossed the Arakan coast in the forenoon of 29 th and rapidly weakened into a Deep Depression and subsequently became less marked on 30 th.(2) Last week s trough/ wind discontinuity at 0.9 km a.s.l. continued to run from Chattisgarh to south Tamil Nadu on 27 th & 28 th and on 29 th it became less marked.(3) A fresh trough/ wind discontinuity at 0.9 km a.s.l. was seen running from east Rajasthan to north coastal Tamil Nadu through west Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, north interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema on 2 nd May. On 3 rd May it was seen running from west Madhya Pradesh to south Tamil Nadu through Vidarbha, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra and interior Karnataka. (4) A western disturbance as an upper air system extending upto 4.5 km a.s.l. lay over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir on 29 th. Persisting over the same area, on 3 rd it was seen moving away northeastwards. (5) Last week s cyclonic circulation extending upto 1.5 km a.s.l. over east Uttar Pradesh became less marked on 27 th. (6) A cyclonic circulation extending upto 0.9 km a.s.l. lay over west Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood on 28 th, moved westwards over east Uttar Pradesh and adjoining west Uttar Pradesh on 29 th and on 30 th it became less marked. (7) A cyclonic circulation between 2.1 & 3.6 km a.s.l. lay over Gujarat Region & neighbourhood on 28 th, persisted there on 29 th and became less marked on 30 th. (8) A cyclonic circulation extending upto 2.1 km a.s.l. over Punjab & adjoining Pakistan on 28 th became less marked in situ on 29 th. (9) A cyclonic circulation extending upto 2.1 km a.s.l. over west Rajasthan & adjoining Punjab on 30 th, moved away northeastwards on 1 st. (10) A cyclonic circulation extending upto 2.1 km a.s.l. over Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura and adjoining Bangla Desh on 30 th became less marked in situ on 1 st. (11) A cyclonic circulation extending upto 2.1 km a.s.l. over central Pakistan and adjoining west Rajasthan on 1 st, is seen persisting over the same area towards the end of the week. (12) A cyclonic circulation extending between 1.5 & 5.8 km a.s.l. over central parts of Bay of Bengal on 1 st, moved southwestwards to west central & adjoining southwest Bay of north Tamil Nadu south Andhra Pradesh coasts on 2 nd, moved further southwestwards to lie over south Tamil Nadu on 3 rd. (13 A cyclonic circulation extending upto 0.9 km a.s.l. over east Uttar Pradesh on 1 st continued to persist over the same area on 3 rd. Heavy rain occurred on 1 day each in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam & Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Tamil Nadu.
