Our Services Re-using Re-use your expensive chiral catalysts Are you using your chiral catalysts in one batch only and would you like to reduce catalyst costs? We develop a Re-using process for your asymmetric synthesis through which you save up to 82% of direct catalyst costs. Moreover, the ecological footprint of your synthesis is enhanced. Redesign Shift the asymmetric step in your synthesis Your asymmetric step is not efficient enough and patents are blocking the desired route? We identify possible alternatives for the asymmetric step and assess technical as well as business impacts of different synthesis sequences. Optimize Enhance the performance of your asymmetric catalysis Your chiral catalysis does not fulfill the required ee, S/C ratio, yield or other set values? With our know-how we identify important process parameters to improve your asymmetric catalysis and enhance your competitiveness. Reduce Exchange solvents to reduce toxic/expensive components Would you rather apply less toxic solvents? We develop a new process with less toxic and less expensive solvents improving your production costs as well as the ecological footprint of your company. Separate Gently separate the product and minimize impurities Would you like to improve the results of your product separation regarding impurities or catalyst residues? With our experience in separation methods we develop strategies that meet your quality requirements. Stabilize Improve the reproducibility of your results Are the results of your catalysis not reproducible? With our understanding of mechanisms inhibiting catalytic reactions we investigate your synthesis to identify critical parameters towards a more robust process performance, e.g. after scale-up. Catalytic Cycle Unveil details of your catalysis Do you think that with a deeper understanding of the reaction mechanism you could transfer results even more successfully? Based on a coarse model for the catalytic cycle we go further and investigate specific questions for your asymmetric reaction to shorten time-to-market of your process. IP Research Company PROFILE 4 Providing data for relevant patent protections Is patent infringement a main concern? Our team will provide the indispensable data to minimize your risk of patent infringements. State-of-the-art production and your reaction route are evaluated towards patent protection and efficiency. Project Types Company PROFILE 5 At the beginning of each project we jointly define the goals that have to be accomplished. Depending on your preferences regarding project duration as well as development risks you can choose between two project types. This ensures the needed flexibility to manage your specific challenge in the best way. Integrated Project This type of project is the fastest way to obtain the desired results. Working fully integrated we investigate the different aspects of your specific challenge in a parallel manner which ensures shortest project duration. Milestone Project By defining milestones you can easily manage the development risk of a project. After each phase, we present results demonstrating, whether the milestone has been achieved. If a milestone is not met you can choose to stop the project, hence reducing the overall development risk. Pricing Options You can choose between three different pricing options, which differ in the composition of fixed and variable price components. Variable charges are linked to the achievement of the project s predefined goals. This is a possibility to share the development risk of a project. Pricing Options Charges Flat Fee Combined Revenue Sharing Fixed Variable Risk potential

TECHNICAL PROFILE 8 Core Competence: Re-using Catalysts Application of water and other sustainable solvents enables Re-using unmodified catalysts In state-of-the-art processes asymmetric catalysts are used in one batch only. With our interdisciplinary approach, we understand how to keep unmodified catalysts active in aqueous solutions. This enables us to apply liquid/liquid extractions that separate catalyst from product gently. Consequently, your catalyst can be reused multiple times. Considering the high value of chiral catalyst, our Re-using approach offers significant economic advantages. Simultaneously, the ecological footprint of the process is enhanced. Since industrially implemented catalysts are used without any chemical modification, highest product qualities are maintained. In summary: with our expertise in chiral catalysis you gain sustainability in the center of your value chain. Reaction: unmodified catalyst Re-using Innovation of DexLeChem Separation: liquid/liquid extraction Catalyst Cost Saving Depending on the number of Re-using cycles as well as the rate of recovered catalyst, direct catalyst costs are reduced by 45 82%! Due to its high prices the absolute cost reduction potential is substantial for chiral catalysts. To sum up: The investment in a Re-using process amortizes rapidly. 80% 60% Catalyst Cost Savings 45 82% Range of Cost Savings 40% 20% 1 2 3 4 5 Recovery Rate 90% 98% Catalyst Re-using Cycles Solvent Cost Saving By applying water or other sustainable solvents further costs can be reduced. In the case of water, the average cost reduction amounts around 86%. Selected Solvents Ecological Efficiency The multiple reuse of catalyst increases the resource efficiency significantly. Furthermore, the ecological footprint of your process is improved by using water and other sustainable solvents systems. TECHNICAL PROFILE 9 Development Process for Catalyst Re-using Four clearly defined phases are conducted to develop a successful Re-using process for your catalysis. Specific requirements of your plant as well as desired performance goals are incorporated. Feasibility In an initial feasibility study we analyze your asymmetric reaction step in order to identify the best strategy for a catalyst Re-using. Reaction-Separation-Strategies No Yes 1 2 3 4 Aqueous-organic solvent system Thermomorphic solvent system Aqueous-surfactant solvent system Others (e.g. ionic liquids) Four generic Reaction-Separation- Strategies are within our toolbox. Each strategy is evaluated regarding its probability of success. Resulting in a detailed risk assessment we then jointly decide whether to proceed or stop the development project. Preparation Execution Fine-Tuning In the next phases we look even deeper into the underlying catalytic cycle by using quantum-chemical computer simulations as well as your experience with the catalyst. Based on the chosen Reaction-Separation-Strategy the determination of a specific solvent system with suitable reaction and separation properties is essential. Finally, experiments in lab scale are conducted. At the end you receive a detailed description of the Re-using process, which is fine-tuned in close reconcilement with the requirements of your catalysis. R&D Equipment Apart from our own equipment we have access to further devices to meet a broad range of technical necessities. Up-to-date working conditions for chiral catalysis together with a customized lab scale autoclave ensure the technical flexibility to realize a wide range of process control.
