2018 OKLAHOMA SOFTBALL 10 8 Having recently completed her 23rd season at the University of Oklahoma, NFCA Hall of Fame head coach Patty Gasso has molded the OU softball program into a national power and permanently placed herself among the elite college softball coaches in the country. Oklahoma has won four national championships, winning in 2000, 2013, 2016 and 2017. OU is one of just three programs in NCAA history to win more than two national titles. She s reached the Women s College World Series 11 times during her tenure, and in the process, advanced to the postseason in each of her 23 seasons. With 27 seasons as a head coach to her name, Gasso has a career collegiate coaching record of 1,329-382-3 (.774) and holds an overall record of 1,168-323-2 (.781) at the University of Oklahoma. Needing only 1,300 games to get there, Gasso became the second fastest to reach 1,000 wins in NCAA Division I history during the 2015 season. She has won more Big 12 games (307-85) than any coach in the league s history and has twice as many wins as any other coach in OU history. Gasso s Sooner teams have finished second or higher 18 different times since the inception of the Big 12 in 1996. They have won over 78 percent of their Big 12 contests, and OU has claimed 20 Big 12 regular season and five championship titles under her direction.
