Vector Boson roduction with heavy flavor quarks from. Introduction Processes involving W & boson roduction are one of the better understood rocesses at hadron colliders. Of those rocesses, the ones involving letonic decays of W and bosons are among the cleanest final states exerimentally, allowing studies of Quantum Chromo-Dynamics (QCD) to be carried out. Studies of vector boson roduction accomanied by heavy flavor (HF) objects lays an imortant role at the LHC. hey rovide tests of erturbative QCD redictions and validate Monte-Carlo data. he measurements are also sensitive to HF arton distribution functions (PDFs). Collinear roduction of b quarks via gluon slitting can also be robed by studying these rocesses. he studies also serve as backgrounds to other Standard Model (SM) measurements and beyond the Standard Model (BSM) searches. Measurements which are summarized in this aer cover recent vector boson and HF roduction results obtained by the exeriment []. he results shown are carried out in the fiducial hase sace defined by correcting for detector effects as described in detail in Refs.[]. In Section two, results of Vector boson roduction with b-quark s (V + b) are resented whereas Section three covers Vector boson roduction with c-quark s (V + c) results. A summary is given in Section four.. V + b measurements In this section, V + b results using datasets of center of mass energies of 7 and 8 ev are resented; namely the measurements of W + b b inclusive cross section, and + b inclusive and differential cross sections. o "tag" the s originating from b-quarks, two different b-tagging algorithms, the so-called Simle Secondary Vertex (SSV) and Combined Seondary Vertex (CSV) algorithms are used, where the chosen working oint of the algorithm gives 5% b-efficiency and % of mistagging rate of light flavor s. Fig. shows the distribution of secondary vertex mass, which is an inut to the b-tagging algorithms. he differential cross section measurement of +b roduction is carried out with resect to various kinematic and angular variables of and b s, for + b and + b categories [6]. he measurements of these final states are sensitive to initial-state gluon slitting effects. he variables are also sensitive to b-quark PDFs, articularly to different PDF schemes: he five flavor scheme (5FS) which includes the b quarks in the PDFs and treats them as massless, and four flavor scheme (FS) which does not include them and hence the b-quarks are treated massive. Fig. shows the differential cross section of +b roduction as a function of the the leading b transverse momentum and also the ratio of the + b to + s roduction. he shae of b is well described by the FS MADGRAPH Leading Order (LO) rediction while the rediction underestimates the normalization by %. he shae of the leading of the ( + b) / ( + s) ratio is not well described by the FS based rediction. he Next-to-Leading Order (NLO) based redictions from MADGRAPH5_aMC@NLO resemble the redictions of LO MADGRAPH 5FS, and NLO calculations of POWHEG have similar descritions of the results as MADGRAPH5_aMC@NLO.

Hence, the measurement is not restricted to cones and can extend to the hase-sace where the B hadrons are collinear and are sensitive to gluon slitting effects. Fig. 3 shows the differential cross section as a function of R between B hadrons inclusively and also for events with boson transverse momentum greater than 5 GeV. A better descrition of the collinear region of the R sectrum is obtained with the ALPGEN redictions whereas FS and 5FS MADGRAPH and amc@nlo redictions underestimate the data. All the generators give better descrition at higher R. For () > 5 GeV, the contribution of collinear decay is increased, hence a better descrition

V + c measurements V + c measurements rovide constraints to strange and charm quark PDFs and they also serve as backgrounds for searches. agging of charm s is carried out in 3 signatures; semiletonic decay of a hadron leading to a muon from a dislaced vertex, a dislaced SV with 3 tracks consistent with D ± decay, and a dislaced SV with two tracks consistent with D decay and associated to a revious D* + () decay. has carried out measurements of the W + c cross section as well as W + + c / W + c ratio, and the + c cross section as well as + c / + b ratio. W + c measurements are done inclusively as well as differentially with resect to leton η, whereas + c measurements are carried out inclusively and differentially in and. Obtained results are comared with various PDF sets. Fig. shows the W + c roduction cross section at 7 and 3 ev as a function of the leton seudoraidity, whereas Fig. 5 shows the cross section ratio σ (W + +c) / σ (W +c) comared with different PDF redictions. At 7 ev, the measurements are described well by MCFM NLO redictions using MSW8, C and NNPDF3 PDF sets, whereas at 3 ev, NLO redictions obtained from MCFM using ABMP6nlo, Cnlo, MMHnlo, NNPDF3.nlo, and NNPDF3.nlo PDF sets are in good agreement with the data, excet the rediction of ALASeW6nnlo PDF. In the 3 ev study, W+c results are further used to illustrate their imact on determining the strange quark PDFs. Fig. 6 shows the differential +c roduction cross section as well as the +c to +b cross section ratio as a function of (). MADGRAPH5_aMC@NLO redicts higher differential cross section values than MADGRAPH and MCFM redictions with MSW8, C and NNPDF3IC PDF sets. 3
