42E13NE8400 2.15192 CASTLEWOOD LAKE 010 Magnetometer Survey on the FOUNDER RESOURCES INC. Conglomerate Lake Property Castlewood Area/ Ontario District of Thunder Bay Oct. 15, 1993 By: Barbara Kowalski
INTRODUCTION A magnetometer survey was completed on one half of the Conglomerate Lake property held by Founder Resources Inc.. The property consists of one claim, 15 units in size. The purpose of the survey was to define the magnetic anomalies accurately as was indicated by a large broad anomaly outlined by the airborne magnetometer survey completed by the Ministry of Northern Dev elopment and Mines in 1989. The principal objective of the program was to determine if any intrusive rocks with a magnetic signature could be present in the Conglomerate Lake rocks. LOCATION, ACCESS AND INFRASTRUCTURE The property is located 62 km along an all-weather gravel road from Trans Canada Highway 11 and 40 km north from the town of Jellicoe. All facilities as rail transportation, Ontario hydro transmission lines and the Trans Canada natural gas pipe line are all located near the highway. The city of Thunder Bay is located approximately 300 km from the property were major sources for mining operations can be located.

PREVIOUS EXPLORATION WORK The area has a long history of exploration since 1916. There are a number of reports and maps of the surrounding property that can be easily located in the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines assessment library located in Thunder Bay. REGIONAL AND PROPERTY GEOLOGY The focus of exploration work of the area was completed to the north and far east of Founder's property in an area dominated by felsic tuffs and lavas that is overlain by the Conglomerate Lake volcanics and sediments. The Conglomerate Lake volcanics are a thick sequence of pillowed submarine lavas that are over lain by the polymictic conglomerates. The conglomerates consist mainly of cobbles of granite, quartz, felsic and matrix of arkosic material. The regional geological map completed by the Ontario Geological Survey Map 2429 suggests that felsic porphyry intrusions may lie in the vicinity of contact with the Conglo merate Lake volcanics and sediments. Founder's approach is to investigate the Conglomerate Lake rocks and particularly any structures that may occur in the area, i.e., the principal Conglomerate Lake fault and any-subsidiary anastomosing splay faults. The splay faults are of particular interest since gold deposits are known to occur in the vicinity of these structures.
MAGNETOMETER SURVEY Method of Survey A Scintrex proton MP2 magnetometer was used during the survey. Base stations were utilized along lines 7 + OOE and 11+OOE as indicated in the enclosed map. Any spurious magnetics ob served in the data during the survey were subssequently corrected at the end of each day. 59,000 gammas. Background level was determined to be The magnetometer survey was completed over one half of the?,?^i\*s claim blocko The readings were taken along the 200 foot north- south grid lines and readings were recorded at 50 foot intervals along them. Discussion of Results Six prominent magnetometer anomalies were depicted from the survey. The anomalies present are 1,000 gammas higher and greater above background levels. They are located on lines 1+OOE, 12+OON; 1+OOE, 3+OOS; L5+OOE,6+OON extending through to L7+OOE, 5+OON; L7+OOE 14+OON extending through to L13tOOE, 14+OON; L13+OOE, 5+OON and L7+OOE, 7+OOS. One of these anomalies has an associated magnetic low that occurs on L7+OOE 15+OON and extends through to L9+OOE, 15+OON. The anomlies should be investigated as to determine their cause. It is interpreted however, that they may be attributed to feldspar porphyry in-
trusives occurring near the contact between the Conglomerate volcanics to the south and the conglomerates to the north. The magnetic low could be indicative of a sediment which may be deformed, altered and may contain sulphides. RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS The remaining other half of the property should be completed with the magnetometer survey, followed by VLF-EM and geological survey is required to investigate the magnetic anomalies that have arisen during the survey and accurately define the rock types on the property. AUTHOR'S QUALIFICATIONS I, Barbara Kowalski, am a graduate from McMaster University Hamilton Ontario with a B.Se. in geology, completed in 1983. Since that time I have worked for Getty Mines, Ontario Geological Survey Economic Division based out of Geraldton, Metalore Resour ces Ltd. as their chief geologist, Placer Dome Inc., as a con sulting geologist, in gold and natural gas well development.
