Projects WBS 1 SBSBAS WBS 2 SBSNFF Overview of SBS Program Started in Oct 2012, as a DOE funded program consisting of three projects. Three form factor experiments were the goal of the SBS program, subsequently other PAC approved experiments have expanded the program. WBS 3 SBSPFF Apparatus SBS Magnet with platform and power supply, beamline upgrades. Hall LCW and power upgrades Coordinate Detector HCAL trigger Detector frames, Electronics Hut, Lead shielding Rear GEM tracker Experiment GEn, GMn, GEp GEn, GMn, GEp SBS Collaboration is a working group within the Hall A collaboration whose purpose is to ensure the successful running, analysis, and publication of approved experiments which will use all or parts of the equipment of SBS. Welcome new institutions and members. Weekly meetings are held. Presentations are archived. SBS Coordinating Committee has members representing all experiments and is presently chaired by Seamus Riordan. Yearly SBS meetings and the agenda of last July s meeting is a good overview of SBS program 1/18/2017 Hall A Jan 2017 Meeting 3 GEp

Rear GEM chambers WBS3 project was a contract with University of Virginia to build forty GEM modules. Each GEM module is 50x60cm 2 with four modules making a chamber. For neutron FF experiments: one chamber will be used in BigBite. For proton FF experiment: ten chambers will be used in a double polarimeter. 40 GEM modules have been built and passed an in-situ testing using a high intensity X-ray source. INFN readout electronics have been purchased and tested at UVa. Chamber of 4 modules in frame 1/18/2017 Hall A Jan 2017 Meeting 17
Front GEM Chambers INFN groups at Rome, Catania, Genoa and Bari Each GEM module is 40x50cm 2 with three modules making a chamber. For neutron FF experiments: four chambers will be used in BigBite. For proton FF experiment: six chambers will be used as the front tracker. Two chambers are at JLab. Modules for two more chambers to arrive at end of January with the final two chambers arriving in middle of 2017. Chamber of 3 modules in carbon frame 1/18/2017 Hall A Jan 2017 Meeting 18
Coordinate Detector WBS2 project was a contract with Idaho State University. Major contributions: Yerevan, St. Mary s, Glasgow, INFN-Catania, Kharkov For neutron FF experiments: Proton tagger placed in front hadron calorimeter For proton FF experiment : Vertical position detector placed in front of electron calorimeter Two planes of scintillator covering 102x294 cm 2. Individual bars 51x0.5x4cm 3 Extruded scintillator with center hole for WLS fiber. 16 channel NINO chip amp/discriminator cards from Glasgow U.
