26 High - Wave Alert for Karnataka Coast High waves in the range of meters are predicted during 17:30 hours on to 2330 hours of along the coast from Mangalore to Karwar of Karnataka coast. Current speeds vary between cm/sec. Strong winds from Northwesterly direction speed occasionally reaching kmph likely along and off Karnataka coast. Fishermen are advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea. DAILY EARTHQUAKE REPORT AS ON (From 10:30 am of to 10:30 am of ) 1. Epicenter Region: North of Ascension Island; Date: Origin Time: 29:08:2016:04:43:19 (Coordinated Universal Time) Origin Time: 29:08:2016:10:13:19 (Indian Standard Time). Depth: 10 km; S-P: 1,268 sec. Epicentral Distance: 10,271 kms. (From Nearest at Supa Dam Site Observatory) Magnitude: 6.9 Latitude: (S); Longitude: (W). Note: The above earthquake is recorded at 13 sites of Master Control Centre (MCC), KSNDMC Permanent Seismic Monitoring Station Network, i.e., at Supa Dam Site, Hidkal Dam Site, Linganmakki Dam Site, Almatti Dam Site, Harangi Dam Site, Hemavathy Dam Site, K.R.S Dam Site, T.B. Dam Site, Chitradurga Site, Kalburgi Site, Gundal Dam Site, Raichur and T.G.Halli Dam Site. NOTE: The above Earthquake as reported by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) & Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad being the authorized organisations towards monitoring & issue of alerts for Tsunamis in the Pacific, Hawaai & Indian Oceans evaluated the above events at North of Ascension Island is SAFE based on historical Earthquake, Tsunami data & observed Sea level changes.
