4 Slip, Trip, and Fall Hazards can be reduced by keeping a clean and neat work environment and dressing properly.

6 Highway Safety When stopping along a highway: Always pull completely off the roadway Park your vehicle facing towards oncoming traffic if possible Always use the vehicle Hazard Lights and amber colored caution lights if equipped

7 Highway Safety continued When stopping along a highway: Always wear highway safety vests Work behind the vehicle let your vehicle act as a protection barrier Always follow local and state traffic laws and reduce speed in rain and low visibility situations.

12 Don t step over logs unless you know it s safe to do so. There can be a hole or a snake on the other side and that may not be fun to step in or on!

17 When to Contact a Physician after a Tick Bite If you experience a rash that looks like a bull's-eye, or a rash anywhere on the body or an unexplained illness accompanied by fever following a tick bite, you should consult your physician and explain that you were bitten by a tick. Disease carried by ticks can be treated with antibiotics. However, the type of antibiotic can vary and individuals should be treated early in the infection.

18 Preventing Tick Bites and Disease Wear protective clothing Apply insect repellent containing DEET to clothes. Check yourself every two to three hours for ticks. Most ticks seldom attach quickly and rarely transmit disease organisms until they have been attached four or more hours.. Remove any tick promptly. The best way to remove a tick is to grasp it firmly with tweezers as close to the skin as possible and gently, but firmly, pull it straight out. Do not twist or jerk the tick. Wash the bite area and your hands thoroughly with soap and water and apply an antiseptic to the bite site.

19 Fires can spread very quickly. Fires can be started by vehicle exhaust systems. Heavy smoke conditions can compromise sample quality. Be Careful of Fires!

20 Weather Safety Florida is a peninsula located in a subtropical climate and experiences many different and quickly changing weather phenomena. Always pay very close attention to the weather.

23 Cumulonimbus Clouds Cumulonimbus clouds are a sign of thunderstorms and are not good weather for sampling.

24 Deadly Lightning Thunderstorms Produce Get off the water and Do not stand near tall objects. Being inside of a vehicle will provide some protection.

25 Lightning Lightning Stats: 80 lightning-related deaths in the U.S. every year. 8,316 people killed in the US between 1940 and 1991.

26 Thunderstorms Can Produce Waterspouts and tornadoes Seek shelter immediately in well built building.

27 Very Heavy Rains Thunderstorms Can Produce You may not experience a thunderstorm at your site, but still feel the effects.
