2 SPECIFICATIONS HEIGHT WIDTH WEIGHT POWER DURABILITY EFFECTIVENESS MATERIALS COVERAGE RADIUS GUARANTEE WARRANTY 14.9 inches 9.5 inches lbs. No power required Water proof Explosion proof Weather Resistant 100% in both field studies and lab tests. Aluminum & Methacrylate 328 feet $500,000 USD 20 Years The is a compact capacitor that requires no power, has no polarity, is comprised of an upper and lower electrode separated by a thermoplastic dielectric, and connects to the ground using a large diameter copper wire attached to a small array of daisy-chained grounding rods. Weighing in at a mere lbs and measuring 9.5 inches wide and 14.9 inches tall, a single device is capable of protecting a radius of 328 feet an area of 337,000 square feet. The can be mounted to virtually any structure on land or sea. The separates positive and negative ions and dissipates them at a rate of 640,000 volts per microsecond channeling them harmlessly down a grounding wire attached to grounding rods. This deionization process, which reduces the difference of potential between the cloud and ground, prevents the upward streamers from forming. With the upward streamers eliminated, the downward leaders have no path to complete a circuit forcing the downward leaders to seek out unprotected areas. Effective against lightning and other forms of electromagnetic pulses such as solar flares, the is the most advanced lightning protection device on the market. With over 8000 installations worldwide and no reported strikes in over 10 years, the s effectiveness is unsurpassed. Accepted by NATO as a proven method to prevent lightning and EMP damage, NFPA 780 compliant and UL96 certified, the is positioned to be the new standard in global lightning protection. THE PDCE LIGHTNING SUPPRESSOR BY EMP SOLUTIONS, INC.
3 COMPARISON CHART Conventional Prevents lightning strikes Protects all types of infrastructures Protects sensitive electronic devices Mounted on any structure land or sea Eliminates over-voltage Protects an area of 337,000 square feet Aids in the prevention of occupational hazards Environmentally friendly Competitive pricing 20 Year warranty $500,000 No-strike guarantee THE PDCE LIGHTNING SUPPRESSOR BY EMP SOLUTIONS, INC.
4 COST OF A STRIKE Realistic numbers show that damage in the U.S. exceeds $7 billion per year. Fatalities and injuries range widely, however, 2015 has already been called the most deadly year in recent history. It is estimated that lightning accounts for 61% of all accidents in storage and processing activities, where natural events are identified as the root cause of the incidents. In North America, 16 out of 20 accidents involving petroleum products storage tanks were as a result of lightning strikes. PETROCHEMICAL DOWNSTREAM COSTS $420,000,000 Plant loss in Texas $52,000,000 Plant loss in Oklahoma $52,000,000 Plant loss in Virginia Source: Willis Energy Market Review, 12/13 STORAGE & PROCESSING CENTERS 61% Incidents caused by lighting. 80% Incidents involving petroleum products storage tanks attributed to lightning strikes. 5 OPERATING PRINCIPLES Lightning is a rapid discharge of electrical energy in the atmosphere. During a thunderstorm, winds within the thunderstorm cloud cause collision between the various precipitation particles within the storm cloud. These collisions cause very small ice crystals to lose electrons while larger particles of soft hail gain electrons. Upward winds within the cloud redistribute these particles and the charges they carry. The soft hail causes a negative charge build up near the middle and lower part of the storm cloud which, in turn, causes a positive charge to build up on the ground beneath the storm cloud. Eventually, when the charge difference between the negative charge in the cloud and the positive charge on the ground become large, the negative charge starts moving toward the ground. As it moves, it creates a conductive path toward the ground. This path follows a zigzag shape as the negative charge jumps through segments in the air. When the negative charge from the cloud makes a connection with the positive charge on the ground, current surges through the jagged path, creating a visible flash of lightning. Lightning cannot be stopped. Energy, building up in the clouds, needs to be released. What can be controlled is where that lightning DOESN T strike. By eliminating the upward streamers that attempt to connect to the stepped leaders, lightning can be prevented from developing within a protected area. Stepped leaders will continue to seek out a pathway to the ground, but in areas protected by the PDCE Lightning Suppressor those pathways are neutralized. The acts as a capacitor and collects the positive and negative charges from the atmosphere and the ground and structures beneath the device, reducing the difference of potential and eliminating the streamers. This process, known as atmospheric deionization, creates an area where lightning cannot strike. Each covers a 100 meter radius or 337,000 square feet of ground space based on the Rolling Sphere Method developed by Ralph H. Lee. The shape of the two aluminum hemispheres of the incorporated over the PVC dielectric allows for a dissipation rate of 640,000 volts per microsecond down a copper ground wire negating the possibility of upward streamers arching with stepped leaders.
