3 0 General Specifications Product Range 0 General Specifications Approval and Certification Paint Finish All MYSON radiators are manufactured and tested to EN. All MYSON radiators carry a ten year guarantee from date of purchase against defects caused by faulty materials or manufacture. Every MYSON radiator undergoes a multi-stage pre-treatment process followed by an epoxy polyester primer coating. A stoved epoxy polyester powder coat in white (RAL 01) is applied to all front and rear surfaces allowing the MYSON to be fitted without further painting. Other colours are available, please see page. Stocked Range A stock range is available on a number of products (see page ). All other products in this brochure are manufactured to order. Manufacture MYSON radiators are manufactured using a unique laser welding process that virtually eliminates the visible welding points associated with the traditional methods of manufacturing this type of radiator. The clean finish significantly enhances the aesthetic qualities of the radiator. Application MYSON radiators are for use on two pipe, pumped, indirect, domestic and commercial central heating installations, with a maximum working temperature of 1 C. The system should be designed in accordance with BS EN 1:0 or BS EN 1:0 as appropriate, with particular care taken to avoid air entry or water discharge. We do not recommend the use of single feed indirect cylinders, as the possibility of aeration due to water interchange may lead to corrosion. The installation work must be carried out in accordance with recognised good practice, and precautions taken to avoid contamination which could lead to corrosion. f a corrosion inhibitor or other water treatment is to be used, the Manufacturer s nstructions must be strictly followed. All systems must be designed with suitable pipe sizing (1mm or mm minimum depending on the length of run) and with a pump or adequate pump head. Failure to do this may lead to trapped air and cold spots because of insufficient pressure and water flow will not drive the air from the radiator. The taller and more tubes a radiator has, the more likely this is to happen. The recommendations of BS, Code of Practice for treatment of water in domestic central heating systems, should be observed. Safety Precautions Radiators are hot when in use, and as such, present a risk of burns to users on prolonged contact. The temperature of a radiator is dependent on the temperature of the system water, as set by the system installer or user. nstallers and users should ensure that those who may come into close proximity to hot radiators are aware of the risk of burns. nstallers and users should take all necessary steps to minimise the risks of burns. f the risk is significant, consideration should be given to installing low surface temperature radiators, or to placing guards in front of the radiators. nstructions for Carrying and Hanging radiators should generally be lifted, carried and attached to the wall brackets vertically (upright). n order to avoid the radiator bowing when it is being carried by two or more people, use additional measures (rails, boards, tubes). Please note the required number of brackets. Tube Details Precision, D-profile steel tube is used for all outside surfaces which ensures high outputs and soft, rounded edges for maximum safety. Pressure Testing All MYSON radiators are tested at bar (.psi) for a bar (1psi) working pressure. Maximum operating temperature = 1 C. Radiated Heat The amount of radiated heat in a room will vary according to the type of radiator from between % for type and % for type 0. Fixings For the correct installation of radiators it is essential that the fixing of the radiator is carried out in such a way that it is suitable for intended use AND predictable misuse. A number of elements need to be taken into consideration including the fixing method used to secure the radiator to the wall, the type and condition of the wall itself, and any additional potential forces or weights, prior to finalising installation. PLEASE NOTE: The fixing materials provided are only intended for installation on walls made of solid wood, bricks, concrete or on timber-frame stud walls where the fixing is into the timber. All walls being considered should have no more than a maximum of mm wall finishing. For walls made of other materials, for example hollow bricks, please consult your installer and/or specialist supplier. 17 Fixing Options Fixing Point nformation - Column Fixings Fixing Points P / Total Weights Column When ordering a special (non stocked) radiator, it will come without any fixing brackets which need to be chosen separately according to the type of installation, from the range of fixing systems on pages 0-. The standard fixing set includes angled wall brackets (RW) and radiator holders (RH). The set includes the correct number of angled wall brackets, radiator holders, the necessary screws and plugs (check suitability with the wall) as well as the installation instructions*. We recommend the top radiator holder (RH) is fitted directly under the upper horizontal waterway, as shown in Section 1. n addition, the range of accessories includes a drill bracket (RA), free standing floor brackets (SK) and wall brackets of various types and sizes for fixing together with the radiator holders (RH). With a special adjustable wall bracket (RV), the radiator can be installed in a wide variety of distances from the wall. radiators can also be fitted with factory fitted backstraps upon request. t is very important to use the right number of fixing brackets for each radiator (see pages -). Every top fixing point (the recommended position directly under the upper horizontal waterway) and lower fixing position (see 1 and ) represents a vertical fixing axis. The load bearing capability of the wall must be checked against the weight of the radiator. Free standing brackets are also available. The standard bracket also offers the possibility to use an under-shelf bracket (FT). The free standing bracket (SK) can be installed to a maximum radiator height of 00mm and the foot bracket (FK) up to 00mm. For every fixing axis, we recommend one free standing bracket/foot bracket. n public areas (for example schools) subject to unusually heavy loads, we recommend wall bracket WKS. *Attention - radiators of a height of 1mm can only be installed with a foot bracket or a wall bracket WK1. f you have any queries please contact Customer Services on 0 0. 20 nterconnecting nformation nterconnecting nformation nstructions for Delivery and Mounting of Sectional Blocks nstructions for Delivery and Mounting of Sectional Blocks (cont...) nterconnections radiators are welded together from individual sections to form sectional blocks and finished radiators. According to the model and height, the number of sections that can be welded together to form a block is limited. This means that according to model and height, there is a maximum length for each block. f a radiator has been ordered whose number of sections is bigger than the maximum number of sections per block, the radiator will automatically be delivered in sectional blocks including nipples, seals and plugs. A radiator with welded back straps is then not available. The sectional blocks should be built up on site into a single radiator with a suitable nippling tool (see accessories) using the supplied nipples and nipple seals. For radiators interconnected together you should also note: l t cannot be delivered with a welded back strap. l f a radiator is delivered in sectional blocks, the necessary accessories will be delivered with the radiator: nipples, seals and plugs. l Before radiators are connected together, note left and right handed threads. Block Lengths n order to make the delivery and transport of radiators to site easier, long length column radiators, according to model type and height are delivered in single sectional blocks. The maximum number of sections per block is shown in the tables opposite. nterconnecting nstructions radiators delivered to site in blocks should be assembled on site and connected using nipples. n order to ensure the radiators are water tight only the original seals delivered with the radiator should be used to join the sections together. Other sealants should not be used. The connection of the individual blocks and nipples consists of 1" right and 1" left handed threads. On the inner side of the nipple, two hollows are located to which the nose of the nippling tool attaches when the radiator is being connected. n order to ensure a reliable seal around the nipples and plugs, please observe the following instructions carefully: l Lay the sectional block horizontally on a flat even surface. n order to protect the paint from damage, cardboard or similar should be laid underneath. l Carefully remove any paint or contamination from the connection point and surrounding surfaces. l Only use the original radiator nipples and 1.mm column seal (EPDM white). Other sealing materials should not be used. l Screw both nipples approximately one turn into the connections of a block, noting the right and left handed threads (left handed threads are carved on the thread coils). Avoid pressure on the nippling connections. nterconnecting nstructions (cont...) l Place one washer centrally over each nipple. l Connect the next sectional block to the nipple. l Feed the nippling tool through the connection of the last attached block into the nipple. The square edge of the nippling tool fits into the back of the nipple. The length of the nippling tool can be measured and specified in advance. Only use the correct nippling tool. l Turn the thread with the nippling tool, alternating between both nipples and screw the sectional blocks together (alternately top and bottom). Failure to tighten the nipples alternately will lead to leaks. l The torque should be 0+/-Nm. Ensure nipples and plugs are not cross threaded. l Nipples screwed in one at a time will cause leaks. Mounting the Plugs After connecting together, radiators are sealed with blanking plugs and then connected to the flow and return of the heating system. Blanking plugs with left and right handed threads as well as washers are delivered together with the radiator. l Only use the original radiator blanking plugs and.mm washers (EPDM white). Other sealing materials should not be used. l Sealing surfaces and threads should be checked for contamination. l Attach the washers to the blanking plugs. l Hand tighten the plugs, noting the left and right hand threads. l Before fully tightening the plugs, check again that the washer is centrally located so that the whole of the washer seals effectively and is not deformed. l Blanking plugs should only be fitted with a suitable tool (ring spanner or adjustable spanner) and the torque should be a maximum of Nm. l The 1" thread used in the radiator is not suitable for direct connection to the heating system. n order to ensure a tight seal, (if necessary with 1" adaptor - see accessories) only use the washers delivered with the radiator. Section : Nipple quick guide. l Choose a flat surface. l Lay cardboard down. l Lay the radiator down carefully. l Ensure threads and sealing surfaces are free of dirt and paint residue. l Thread the original column radiator nipples one turn into one block (note left and right handed threads). l Attach the original column radiator washer to both nipples, ensuring it is centrally located. l Attach the next block to the nipple (ensure the radiator is horizontal and parallel). l nsert the nippling tool through one connection of the adjoining block. l Engage the square end of the nippling tool with the back of the nipple. l Alternately tighten both nipples in order to ensure equal uniform tightness (un-uniform connection will lead to leaks). l Final tightening should be done carefully - torque 0+/-Nm TECHNCAL NFORMATON
