4 The Pocess The audition wi be boken down into thee pats: 1. Individua evauation You wi be evauated individuay on udimenta dumming and basic ski set on you paticua instument. Bass dums might be sighty diffeent. 2. Ensembe pefomance In the ensembe envionment, we wi be ooking fo you abiity to bend, baance, and adapt.. Visua pefomance You wi be evauated on you basics skis sets of maching and othe visua eated subjects. Suggestions: Pepaation Wok unti you ae famiia and comfotabe with a of the audition mateia. Use a metonome. Be abe to mak time to a the audition mateia. Audition Keep in mind that you ae auditioning at a times. Be pofessiona. 5 Dynamics: This wi be the dynamic specifications and height system that we as a staff have estabished and wi be impementing this season at GE: pp = 1 (gace notes) p = mp = 6 mf = 9 f = ff = 15 (vetica) NOTE: Bass dums wi use a sighty diffeent system but SHOUD sti be famiia with this system.

6 TECHNIQUE Snae Dum: When stiking the dum, aways ead with the bead of the stick; impementing finges, wist, AND foeam.! They shoud a wok equay and efficienty. ight am shoud be comfotabe to whee the ight hand is neithe too fat (Geman gip) no too vetica (Fench gip). A the finges in the ight hand shoud be in contact at a times. eft thumb, index and ing finges shoud be in contact at a times. Midde and pinky finges maintain eaxed thoughout. eft foeam shoud be paae to the gound o cose to paae. And eft ebow shoud be about a fist away fom side of body. Teno Dums: ead fist thee buet points of the snae dum technique, and appy to both hands. You shoud have a sighty downwad ange to the dumheads. Beads shoud not but above the wists. Set position shoud be ove dum 1 and dum 2. Sighty outside of cente. When moving to the outside dums, pivot fom ebow NOT the wist. Maintain the same hand shape no matte what dum you ae going to stike. Pu back SIGHTY to stike the spock dums. Check zone diagam beow:
