2 Background The Cambodia / Victim Information System (CMVIS) established in 99 by the Cambodian Red Cross with technical and financial supported by Handicap International Belgium and UNICEF to provide systematic collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of information about civilian and military casualties of landmines, unexploded ordnance and other explosive remnants of war in Cambodia. By the end of 009, CMVIS was completely handed over from the Cambodian Red Cross to the Cambodian Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) for full management responsibility. Accident and Casualty Information - Total Casualties reported from 979 to June 07 For the period of 979 to June 07, a total of 9 mine/ casualties were recorded by CMVIS data gatherers. Of the 9 casualties: (79%) were mine casualties and (%) were casualties (%) people killed, 59 (55%) people injured and 90 (%) people amputated (%) casualties were men, 0 (9%) casualties were boys (age<), 77 (%) casualties were women, (%) casualties were girls (age<) and (0%) casualties were unknowns. - Accident Summary for January to June 07 From January to June 07, mine/ accidents were provisionally recorded. This figure for January to June 07 represents a decrease of 50% compared with mine/ accidents reported from January to June 0. Of the mine/ accidents, (%) were mine accidents and (5%) were accidents. - Casualty Summary for January to June 07 From January to June 07, / casualties were provisionally recorded. This figure for January to June 07 represents a decrease of 7% compared with 5 casualties reported from January to June 0. Of the casualties: - (%) people killed or injured by mines and 0 (%) resulted from 0 accidents. - (9%) people killed, (50%) people injured and 0 (%) people amputated. - (9%) casualties were men, (5%) casualties were boys (age<), and (%) casualties were women. - Accident Summary for June 07 In June 07, / accidents were provisionally recorded in provinces of: Banteay Mean Chey, Battambang and Otdar Meanchey (CMVIS data gatherers collected information about accidents primarily through interviews with local authorities, mine/ action agencies, relatives, families of casualties, or casualties themselves).
