(Tuesday June 9 3 rd /4 th hours; Wednesday June 10 2 nd /5 th hours; Thursday June 11 1 st /6 th hours) Format: Multiple Choice and Free Response Time: 90 minutes Other: You may not use any additional notes. You MUST have a pencil in order to complete the multiple choice section. While all topics from the first and second card marking are fair game, focus on the following topics in preparation for the free response portion of the exam: o Solving Quadratic equations by quadratic formula, factoring, completing the square and by taking the square root o Solve a linear system of equations by substitution and Linear combination o Factoring a polynomial o Graphing a linear inequality, quadratic and exponential functions o Simplify exponential expressions o Use exponential growth/decay model While all topics from the third and fourth card marking are fair game, focus on the following topics in preparation for the multiple choice portion of the exam: Chap 7 (Linear Systems of Equations) Know: Solve a system by graphing, linear combination and substitution Identify a system as having one solution, no solution or infinitely many solutions Solve a system of linear inequalities by graphing Model and solve reallife problems using a linear system. Chap 8 (Exponents) Know: Use properties of exponents to simply exponential expressions Write and use models for exponential growth and decay Scientific notation Chap 9 (Quadratic Equations and Functions) Know: Simplify radicals Graph a quadratic function Use the quadratic formula Use the discriminant to determine the type and number of solutions Choose a model that best fits the data points Chap 10 (Polynomials and Factoring) Know: Add, subtract, and multiply polynomials Factor a polynomial completely Solve a quadratic by factoring Chap 12 (Radicals sections only) Know: Operations with radical expressions Simplify a radical expression Put an quadratic equation in vertex form Completing the square Box and Whisker Plot
