A NOTE ON q-bernoulli NUMBERS AND POLYNOMIALS arv:math.nt/ v1 16 Feb 2005 Taekyun Km Insttute of Scence Eucaton, Kongju Natonal Unversty, Kongju , S. Korea Abstract. By usng q-ntegraton, we wll gve some ntegral equaton whch are relate to the Barnes multple Bernoull numbers. The object of ths paper s to gve explct q-ntegral s formulae whch are relate to Barnes multple q-bernoull polynomals. 1. Introucton Let Z, Z p, Q p an C p wll be enote by the rng of ntegers, the rng of p-ac ntegers, the fel of p-ac numbers an the completon of algebrac closure of Q p an let ν p be the normalze exponental valuaton of C p wth p p = p νp(p) = p 1. When one talks of q-extenson, q s varously consere as an netermnate, a complex number or a p-ac number. If q C p, then we normally assume q 1 p < p 1 p 1, so that q x = exp(x log q) for x p 1. In ths paper, we use the notaton: [x] = [x : q] = 1 qx 1 q. Hence, lm q 1 [x] = x for any x wth x p 1 n the present p-ac case. 2 2 T. KIM Let be a fxe nteger an let p be a fxe prme number. We set = N lm(z/p N Z), = a + pz p, 0<a<p (a,p)=1 a + p N Z p = {x x a (mo p N )}, where a Z les n 0 a < p N, cf. [2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]. For any postve nteger N, we set µ q (a + p N Z p ) = qa [p N ] an ths can be extene to a strbuton on. Ths strbuton yels an ntegral for each non-negatve nteger m: [x] m µ q (x) = Z p [a] m µ q (a) = 1 (1 q) m The multple Barnes Bernoull polynomals were efne by (1) w j e wjt t r e xt = 1 for each w j > 0, 0 < t < 1, cf. [1]. n=0 m =0 ( ) m ( 1) + 1 [ + 1]. B (r) n (x w 1, w 2,, w r ) tn n!, The numbers B (r) n (w 1, w 2,, w r ) = B (r) n (0 w 1, w 2,, w r ) are calle the multple Barnes numbers. Throughout ths paper, we assume that α 1,, α k are taken n the set of ntegers an let w Z p. Now, we can conser the multple q-bernoull numbers by usng q-ntegral as follows: β n (r) (w, q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = [w + α 1 x α r x r ] n, Z p
an q-bernoulli NUMBERS AND POLYNOMIALS 3 β n (r) (q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = [α 1 x α r x r ] n. Z p In ths paper, we construct the numbers β n (h,r) (w, q α 1, α 2,, α r ) for h Z whch reuce the multple Barnes Bernoull numbers B n (r) (α 1, α 2,, α r ) as q 1. Also, we gve the new explct formulas whch are relate to these numbers. 2. An extenson of Changhee q-bernoull numbers For h Z, we efne the extenson of Changhee q-bernoull polynomals, numbers as follows: (2) an (3) n (w, q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = q r [w + α 1 x α r x r ] n, n (q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = [α 1 x α r x r ] n q r. These can be wrtten as n (w, q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = By (3), we have (4) j=0 ( ) n q w j j (q α 1, α 2,, α r )[w] n j. j n (q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = [α 1 x α r x r ] n q r = 1 (1 q) n j=0 ( ) n ( 1) j (jα 1 + h)(jα 2 + h 1) (jα r + h r + 1) j [jα 1 + h][jα 2 + h 1] [jα r + h r + 1].
4 T. KIM Therefore we obtan the followng : Theorem 1. For any n 0, we have n (w, q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = 1 (1 q) n j=0 ( ) n ( q w ) j j l=1 ( ) jαl + h l + 1. [jα l + h l + 1] Remark 1. Note that β (2,1) 0 (q 1) = 2 [2], β(2,1) 1 (q 1) = 2q + 1 [2][3], β(2,1) 2 (q 1) = 2q2 [3][4], β (2,1) 3 (q 1) = q2 (q 1)(2[3] + q),, [3][4][5] β (h,1) 0 (q 1) = h [h], β (h,1) 1 (q 1) = (1 + q + + qh 1 ) + q(1 + q + + q h 2 ) + + q h 1 [h][h + 1] β (2,2) 0 (q 1, 1) = 2! [2][1], 2(q + 2) β(2,2) 1 (q 1, 1) =, [2][3] 2 (q 1, 1) = 2((q 1)2 + 5q),, [3][4] r! 0 (q 1,, 1) =, ( cf. [4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11] ). [r][r 1] [2][1] β (2,2) β (r,r) Remark 2. By the efnton of β n (h,r) (q α 1, α 2,, α r ), we note that β n (h,r) (0, q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = β n (h,r) (q α 1, α 2,, α r ).
q-bernoulli NUMBERS AND POLYNOMIALS 5 By (2),(3), t s easy to see that [α 1 x α r x r ] n q r = (q 1) [α 1 x α r x r ] n+1 q r =1 (h α )x + [α 1 x α r x r ] n q r =1 (h α )x. Thus we have m (q 1, 1,, 1) = (q 1)β m (h 1,r) (q 1, 1,, 1) + β m (h 1,r) (q 1, 1,, 1). It s easy to see that [w + α 1 x α r x r ] n q r (5) = [] n r 1, 2, r =0 q ( 1+ r )h (r 1) r [ w + α α r r + α 1 x α r x r ; q ] n q x 1(h 1)+ +x r (h r) µ q (x 1 ) µ q (x r ). From (3), (5), we have the followng: Theorem 2. For any postve nteger n, we have β n (h,r) (w, q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = [] n r n 1, 2, r =0 q ( 1+ r )h (r 1) r ( w + α α r r, q α 1,, α r ).
6 T. KIM Moreover, β n (h,r) (w, q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = [] n r n 1, 2, r =0 q ( 1+ r )h (r 1) r (w + α α r r, q α 1,, α r ). Remark 3. Note that lm q 1 β(h,r) n (w, q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = B (r) n (w α 1, α 2,, α r ), ( see Eq. (1) ). Hence, β n (h,r) (w, q α 1, α 2,, α r ) can be consere by the q-analogue of Barnes multple Bernoull polynomals. Now, we wll gve the nverse formula of Eq. (4). Inee we see ( n =0 = =0 ) (q 1) (q α 1, α 2,, α r ) ( n = )(q 1) [α 1 x α r x r ] q r (h j)x j q n(α 1x 1 + +α r x r ) q r (h j)x j = (nα 1 + h)(nα 2 + h 1) (nα r + h r + 1) [nα 1 + h][nα 2 + h 1] [nα r + h r + 1]. Therefore we obtan the followng: Theorem 3. For h Z 0, we have m =0 ( ) m (q 1) (q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = ( ) mαj + h j + 1. [mα j + h j + 1]
q-bernoulli NUMBERS AND POLYNOMIALS 7 Let χ be a Drchlet character wth conuctor Z 0. Then we efne the generalze Changhee q-bernoull numbers as follows: For m 0, (6) m,χ (q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = [α 1 x α r x r ] m q r (h j)x j χ(x j ). }{{ } By smple calculaton, we see that (7) } {{ } = [] m r [α 1 x α r x r ] m q r (h j)x j 1,, r =0 q h 1+ +(h r+1) r χ(x j ) χ(x j ) [ α α r r + α 1 x α r x r ; q ] m q r xj(h j) µ q (x 1 ) µ q (x r ). By (2),(7), we have the followng : Theorem 4. For h Z 0, we have m,χ (q α 1, α 2,, α r ) = [] m r 1,, r =0 χ(x j ) β m (h,r) q h 1+ +(h r+1) r (α α r r, q α 1, α 2,, α r ). Remark. By usng our formulae n the case of q = 1, we can obtan many new formulas whch are relate to the multple Barnes Bernoull numbers, cf.[1, 2, 4, 8, 10, 11].
