The tetraquark K (400) in the decays τ [ω(78) φ(00)]k ν τ M. K. Volkov Aleksey A. Pivovarov K. Nurlan BLTP Joint Institute for Nuclear Research Dubna 4980 Russia arxiv: v [hep-ph] Mar 09 Abstract In the extended Nambu Jona-Lasinio model the decay widths of the processes τ [ω(78) φ(00)]k ν τ were calculated. The intermediate strange quark-antiquark mesons in both the ground and the first radially excited states were taken into account. The meson K (400) being a possible candidate for the role of the tetraquark meson was also taken into account as an intermediate state. The result for the process τ ω(78)k ν τ is in satisfactory agreement with the experimental data. Simultaneously the result for the decay τ φ(00)k ν τ is in agreement with the experimental data with precision.3σ. Introduction The processes τ [ω(78) φ(00)]k ν τ were intensively investigated from both the experimental [ 3] and theoretical [4 5] points of view. In the theoretical works the resonance chiral theory and G-parity were applied. In the present paper the pointed processes are considered in the framework of the extended Nambu Jona-Lasinio model (NJL) [ ]. This model allows one to describe the scalar psudoscalar vector and axial vector meson nonets in both the ground and the first radially excited states in the framework of the chiral symmetry. It has turned out to be very useful for calculation of numerous modes of the τ-lepton decays because in the intermediate states of these decays the ground and the first radially excited mesons give the main contribution []. Indeed in the framework of this model the decays τ ππν τ [] τ π[η η (958)]ν τ [3] τ πkν τ [4 5] τ [η η (958)]Kν τ [6] τ KKν τ [7] were described without any additional arbitrary parameters. These processes have two channels. One of them is the contact channel where the W -boson produces the final mesons directly. The other channel includes the intermediate vector mesons in the ground and the first radially excited states. The decay τ f (85)πν τ with only axial vector meson in the intermediate state was calculated [8]. The series of decays with vector and pseudoscalar mesons in the final states were also described for example the decay τ πω(78)ν τ [9] including only contact and vector intermediate channel and the decays τ π[ρ(770) ρ(450)]ν τ [0] including contact axial vector and pseudoscalar channel. However similar processes with strange particles are of particular interest. Typical examples of these decays are the processes τ [ω(78) φ(00)]k ν τ. In the present paper their decay widths are calculated. They include the contact channel and three intermediate channels: axial vector vector and pseudoscalar ones. The axial vector channel is dominant. In this channel we take into account the mesons K (70) K (650) and K (400). The last one is considered as a tetraquark state. Since this meson is not included into the nonet and consequently is not described with the NJL model directly the description of appropriate volkov@theor.jinr.ru tex k@mail.ru nurlan.qanat@mail.ru
vertices may be performed phenomenologicaly by using arbitrary parameters which can be defined from the independent processes τ K (400)ν τ and K (400) ω(78)k. The paper has the following structure. Section contains the quark-meson interaction Lagrangian of the extended NJL model. Section 3 is devoted to the amplitudes of the considered processes obtained in the framework of the extended NJL model and the numerical results for the decay widths. In section 4 the corrections from the intermediate tetraquark meson for these processes are given. The conclusion contains the discussion of the obtained results and the comparison with other theoretical works. The interaction Lagrangian of the extended NJL model When building the extended NJL model the two main conditions were complied. Firstly the insertion of the radially excited meson states should not change the quark condensate. This is achieved by introduction of the polynomial form factor F (k ) = cf (k ). The constant c influences only the masses of the radially excited mesons. The rest part f ( k ) = ( + dk ) θ(λ k ) () influences the mesons interactions. The slope parameter d is definitely fixed from the requirement of invariability of the quark condensate after including the radially excited meson states; k is the relative momentum of quarks in a meson. It is transverse to the meson momenta; Λ is the cutoff parameter. The second condition is the requirement of the diagonal of the free Lagrangian included the ground and the first radially excited mesons. This condidtion is fulfilled with the mixing angles. Thereby all model parameters are fixed when building the free Lagrangian. Therefore it is not necessary to include additional arbitrary parameters for description of the mesons interactions in the extended NJL model. As a result the fragment of the quark-meson interaction Lagrangian for the mesons included in our processes takes the form [7 ]: L int = q γµ γ 5 λ K j j=± + iγ 5 j=± λ K j ( AK K j ) µ + B K K j µ + γµ λ K j j=± ( AK K j + B K K j) + γµ λ ω A ω ω µ + γµ λ φ A φ φ µ ( ) AK Kµ j + B K K j µ q () where q and q are the u d and s quark fields with the constituent masses m u = m d = 80 MeV m s = 460 MeV the excited meson states are marked with prime A M = B M = [ gm sin(θ sin(θm) 0 M + θm) 0 + g Mf M (k ) sin(θ M θm) ] 0 [ gm cos(θ sin(θm) 0 M + θm) 0 + g Mf M (k ) cos(θ M θm) ] 0. (3) Here the index M denotes an appropriate meson. The form factor f (k ) describes the first radially excited mesons and the slope parameter d depends only on the quark composition of the meson: d uu = MeV d ss = MeV d us = MeV. (4)
as The transverse relative momentum of the inner quark-antiquark system may be represented k = k (kp)p p (5) where p is the meson momentum. In the rest system of a meson (see details in [8]) k = (0 k). (6) Therefore this momentum may be used as a three-dimensional one. The parameter θ M is the mixing angle for the ground and the first radially excited mesons [7 ]: Auxiliary values θ 0 M are included for convenience: where θ K = θ K = θ K = 58. θ ω = 8.8 θ φ = (7) R K = R K = R ω = sin (θ 0 M) = +RM Ifus Ifuu 0 I I f us I 0 I f uu 0 R K = R φ = Ifss 0 I 0 I f ss 0 I fus Z K I I f us (8) ( Z K = 3 (m u + m s ) ) (9) is an additional constant of renormalization appearing in K K transitions M K = 7 MeV is the mass of the axial vector strange meson []. Br ( 0 5 ) Ground Excited Sum W AV AV 3.49(0.58) W V V 0.9(0.08) PS tot PDG 4.4 ±.6 One can see that the deviation of the theoretical result from the experimental data does not exceed.9σ. In all these calculations the interferences between different contributions were taken into account. The interference between the vector contribution and the other ones are equal to zero due to the antisymmetric tensor in the vector channel. The obtained results do not exceed σ deviation from the experimental data. The meson K (400) considered as a tetraquark state by us can also be included in this process. It is involved into the decays τ K (400)ν τ and K (400) ω(78)k. Therefore one can expect that the vertex K (400)Kφ(00) exists. Accordingly the influence of this meson on the processes τ [ω(78) φ(00)]k ν τ should be taken into account. 4 The estimation of the contributions from the tetraquark meson In the work [] the nonstrange axial vector tetraquark meson was considered. For the vertex of interaction of the strange axial vector tetraquark meson with quarks a similar structure but with nonzero strangeness is used: K tetra ( c ūγ µ uūγ 5 s + c ūγ µ d dγ 5 s + c 3 ūγ µ s sγ 5 s +c 4 ūγ µ sūγ 5 u + c 5 dγ µ sūγ 5 d + c 6 sγ µ sūγ 5 s ) () where c i i =... 6 are constants. The use of this structure leads to the diagram for the process τ K (400)ν τ displayed in Fig. 3. As a result in the loop of W -boson transition into the tetraquark meson the same structure as in the case of the quark-antiquark meson appears. The sum of possible tadpoles gives us the constant Const. The amplitude takes the form: M = G { [ F V us Const L µ g µν q 3 ] } (m s + m u ) q µ q ν e ν(p K ) Using the experimental value for this process one can estimate this constant approximately: Br(τ K (400)ν τ ) EXP = (.7 ±.6) 0 3 () Const = 0.. (3) 7
Figure 3: The decay τ K (400)ν τ. We assume that the structure of the amplitude for the process K (400) ω(78)k is similar to the structure of the amplitude in the case of the quark-antiquark state. Then this amplitude takes the form: Using the experimental value for this process M = Const ω e µ (p K )g µν e ν(p ω ). (4) Br(K (400) ω(78)k) EXP = ( ± ) 0 (5) one can estimate the constant Const ω approximately: form: Const ω = 539MeV. (6) Then the amplitude for the tetraquark channel of the process τ ω(78)kν τ M = G g µν F V us Const Const ω L µ [ [ ] q 3(m s + m u ) ] q µ q ν 3 (m s+m u) MK tetra MK tetra q i e q Γ ν(p ω ) Ktetra takes the The contribution from the tetraquark channel to the branching fraction of this process is Br(τ ω(78)kν τ ) tetra = (7) The total branching fraction of this process with the tetraquark channel is Br(τ ω(78)kν τ ) tot = (8) For the process τ φ(00)kν τ the constant Const is the same as in the previous case. We estimate the constant Const φ by multiplication of Const ω by the factor g φ g ω : Const φ = 693MeV. (9) The contribution from the tetraquark channel to the branching fraction of this process is Br(τ φ(00)kν τ ) tetra = (30) The total branching fraction of this process with the tetraquark channel Br(τ φ(00)kν τ ) tot = (3) 8
5 Conclusion Our calculations allow us to highlight two main results. Firstly we have shown that the axial vector channel is the dominant one. Secondly the important role of the intermediate tetraquark meson K (400) was emphasized. Indeed the final result of the branching fraction of the decay τ ω(78)kν τ is in satisfactory agreement with the experimental data. On the other hand the value of the branching fraction of the decay τ φ(00)kν τ is beyond the experimental error; however the deviation does not exceed.3σ. It is necesary to emphasize that the experimental data for this process have big errors. It is interesting to compare our results with those of other theoretical papers. In the work [4] for the decay τ ω(78)kν τ the following results were obtained: and and for the process τ φ(00)kν τ the results were obtained. In the above mentioned work the intermediate meson K (400) was taken into account. However it was considered as a quark-antiquark state mixing with the state K (70). In the recent paper [5] the following results were obtained: and for the process τ ω(78)kν τ and and for the process τ φ(00)kν τ. We hope to obtain more precise experimental results concerning the processes considered in the present paper. Acknowlegments The authors are grateful to A. B. Arbuzov M. A. Ivanov and A. A.
