3 The Wildlands Conservation Trust There is growing global awareness of the fragile state of our planet. The ever present threat of significant Climate Change is testament to this fragile state. Years of exploitation, pollution and willful destruction have degraded our planets life support systems - its "ecosystems". Government, Corporate and Civil Society leadership have recognized and acknowledged the looming threat of Climate Change and the importance of nurturing and restoring the health of our ecosystems, as a buffer to possible changes. They have also recognized the unique opportunity that this presents in the form of the "GREEN ECONOMY", and the associated GREEN JOBS that can be stimulated through the process of harnessing the green economy opportunity. As one of South Africa's leading environmental organizations, the Wildlands Conservation Trust is committed to supporting this process. Wildlands Vision - A Sustainable Future for All - was inspired by one of the greatest Statesman of our times, Nelson Mandela, whose' Vision - Freedom for All - was regarded by many as unobtainable, yet inspired the transformation of South Africa. To achieve this Vision, Wildlands is progressively developing and implementing WILDLANDS INITIATIVES across the country, with a strategic focus on the restoration and care of the ecosystems that underwrite the welfare and livelihood of communities; Pro-poor development approaches aimed at "enabling sustainable access to the economy" for unemployed community members, with a view to nurturing a catalytic generation of green jobs; And the establishment of critical delivery partnerships between community leadership, business, civil society and government. The Wildlands CEBA activities are supported by an ever increasing network of private and businesses (SED) donors, who are inspired by our work and inspire us with their support and generosity. Wildlands strives to ensure that every donation is applied to maximum effect, stretching resources as far as possible and minimizing overhead expenses (set at 10%). The funds donated by our private and business donors are leveraged to secure matching funding from the South African Government.
