The year 2012 is the 40 th anniversary of IGCP. It is suggested that the IGCP Secretariat / IGCP Scientific Board take the lead in organizing celebrating activities at the 34 th IGC Australia 2012 in cooperation with IGCP national committees across the world.

9 2. Prof. Robert Missotten made a feasibility study to China in November 2010 regarding the creation of an International Research Center on Global Geochemical Mapping (IRCGGM). It is requested that the discussion on the issue of IRCGGM establishment be place on the agenda of the 39 th Session of IGCP Scientific Board and a decision to give it full support could be reached at the session. 3. The Global Geoparks idea is being adopted by increasing numbers of countries across the world and the Geoparks are becoming very popular due to their combination of conservation, sustainable development and community involvement. All of this has owed a great deal to the persistent efforts of the UNESCO, particularly UNESCO s Ecological and Earth Sciences Division and IGCP. It is suggested that UNESCO sponsor and organize an exhibition of Geoparks during the 34 th IGC.
