Evaluation Sequence: Critical Issue Related to Waste Goal To apply problem-solving skills and knowledge of the periodic table and nuclear transformations, in order to propose a long-term storage solution for waste from a nuclear power plant The main challenge that needs to be addressed in connection with a nuclear power plant, aside from the risks associated with the operation of such a plant, is undoubtedly how to manage the waste from the facility. The site currently used to store waste from the plant will reach its full capacity in the next few years. A new solution must therefore be found very soon. As a nuclear safety specialist, you have been asked to examine this issue. Your task You will propose a procedure for storing waste from a nuclear power plant. To this end, you must: identify the types of waste produced by the plant; determine the impacts associated with these wastes; propose a long-term storage method for the waste. Identifying the types of waste /20 points Before thinking about how to dispose of waste from the nuclear power plant, it is necessary to determine what types of waste are concerned. a) What are the wastes generated by such a plant called and what do these wastes consist of? 10 SOFAD
