(b) Read through each box (a) (j) (c) Circle the word that best describes you in column 2 (d) Circle the word that describes you the least in column 3 4 w w w. p m t u t o r. o r g

RESULTS The most circled alphabet in the second column is your major temperament. If it is (S), then you are Sanguine, if (C), then you are Choleric, if (M), then you are Melancholy and if (P), then you are Phlegmatic. To confirm the above, take the confirmatory test below as well. 6 w w w. p m t u t o r. o r g
Instructions: Tick the box that best defines you in answer to the questions below. Confirmation Test 1. Are you an extrovert or an introvert? Extrovert Introvert 2. Are you a spontaneous quick talker? Yes No 3. Do you have to apologize frequently? Yes No 4. Do you have high emotional response? Yes No 5. Are you quiet and slow in speech? Yes No 6. Are you a good speller? Yes No 7. Do you do well at Maths and details? Yes No 8. Do you get depressed easily? Yes No Analysis If your answer to question 1 is extrovert and you answered yes to 2-4, your primary temperament is probably Sanguine (S). {1-Extrovert; 2 4 = Yes = S} But if only one of 2 4 answers yes, you are probably a Choleric temperament (C). {1-Extrovert; 2 4 = only one of them is yes = C} If you answered 1 that you are an introvert and yes to 6 8, your primary temperament is probably Melancholy (M). {1-Introvert; 6 8 = yes = M} But if you said yes to 5 and you do not get depressed very often, your predominant temperament is probably phlegmatic. {1-Introvert; 5 = yes; 8 = No = P} 7 w w w. p m t u t o r. o r g
TEMPERAMENT TEST SAMPLE: When you take the test, this is what it will look like: (a) Emotional S M Talkative S M Strong Willed C P (f) Sarcastic C P Moody M S Revengeful M S Fearful P C Indecisive P C (b) Warm and Friendly wa S M Independent C P (g) Collaborative S M Competitive C P Aesthetic M S Accommodative M S Calm & Quiet P C Avoiding P C (c) Enthusiastic S M Decisive C P (h) Expensive S M Driver C P Analytical M S Introspective M S Procrastinator P C Amiable P C (d) Moralistic M S Respectful P M (i) Angry C P Exaggerate S M Visionary C P Negative M S Diplomatic C C Selfish P C (e) Agreeable S M Friendly P C (j) Self Discipline M S Dependable P M Practical C P Leader C P Persistent M S Out Going C C 8 w w w. p m t u t o r. o r g
RESULTS: Remember that the results are based on the circles in column 2 ONLY. S 2 C 2 M 5 P - 1 This person is predominantly Melancholic (M). Let s see what the confirmatory test says 9 w w w. p m t u t o r.
Yes No Analysis Since this person s answer in 1 is Introvert, and he answers yes to 6 8, then the test confirms the person s as having a Melancholic (M) temperament. 10 w w w. p m t u t o r. o r g
Section 2 Discovering your Vocational Aptitudes Having discovered your major temperament (whether Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholic or Phlegmatic), then you can understand better where precisely you fit in the job industry and why. Frustration at your job is the next worst thing that can happen to a man after unemployment, doing a monotonous uninteresting job, feeling bored and unfit at work. To avoid this, examine the brief exposures below to the four temperaments occupational abilities and take a firm decision to work in a place where your inherent abilities will be utilized, where you do what you love and enjoy! Get a job that you will relish to go to every morning and interests you whenever you think about it. Look at it this way, If you can get paid that much doing what you don t enjoy, imagine how much more you will make eventually, doing what you love? I think it is worth giving a try, don t you? Sanguine s Occupational Abilities: A sanguine is a representation of cheerfulness and enthusiasm. Since enthusiasm is contagious, they have a way of inducing it into people around them, which makes them good hospital workers. A sanguine doctor or nurse will always brighten his/her patient s day with their radiant smile and enthusiastic expressions. Also, by reason of this natural personal appeal, they ace as salesmen too. Since sanguines can be very convincing, they do excellently well as salesmen, being able to win potential customers over into purchasing the goods being sold. 11 w w w. p m t u t o r. o r g
Whatever job sanguines will take up should afford them opportunity of meeting people so that their assumed chief responsibility to life which is gladdening the hearts of others might be fulfilled. Sanguines are also excellent auctioneers, striking comperes, entertainers, actors and evangelists. One weakness that sanguines possess is their benumbed interest in details and their inability to stick-to-it/persevere in the face of adversity; they easily back off when a difficult situation arises. The joy however is that these weaknesses can be overcome if they choose not to give free rein to them and decide to discipline themselves. Choleric s Occupational Abilities: Cholerics exude so much selfconfidence, are goal-oriented and possess an innate ability to motivate others to conceive and implement goals; thus they perform exceptionally well as leaders; although they are not given to meticulous and analytical planning. Naturally, they savour construction and development jobs since they are highly productive/active people. Majority of entrepreneurs are cholerics. They develop and implement new ideas because of their audacious nature. Once, the business idea is successful anyway, they soon get uninterested and seek to sell off the business, so that they can launch into something new again. Cholerics usually assess the contribution of others as insufficient, which ensures that they don t delegate responsibilities and so end up doing everything themselves. This is one of their weaknesses, which they need to overcome. 12 w w w. p m t u t o r. o r g
As an exceptional leader, those around him usually expect his approval and encouragement which they usually don t get because a choleric thinks approval results into an employee s complacency; this makes him resort to employee-criticism which he believes will inspire the employee. His leadership role will be boosted if he can come to understand that people attain peak performance when they are reassured not criticized. The choleric s optimism, determination and strong willed nature ensures that he out-performs others in projects and succeeds, even where others don t. Melancholic s Occupational Abilities: Melancholics are die-hard perfectionists and possess huge creativity, IQ and imaginative skills like no other temperament. Most doctors are melancholic in nature since melancholics are also characterized by self-sacrifice and very analytical minds. This also makes them do well on the construction drawing boards. When you see a true musician, you have seen a melancholic - they usually feel their songs. People with a melancholy temperament can become artisans; they are seen anywhere significant humanitarian services are been provided. Interestingly, melancholics also act. They can easily flow into roles, adopting whatever personality they need to, while on stage and become their introverted self soon after. One weakness that melancholics possess is that they tend to underrate themselves and amplify obstacles/difficulties. Phlegmatic s Occupational Abilities: Phlegmatics are quiet and gentle. They find jobs that require details and patience very interesting. These 13 w w w. p m t u t o r. o r g
qualities make them do very well as school teachers, school principals, librarians, counselors and heads of departments. They also get along with people so well that they can easily evoke calmness coupled with a conducive atmosphere for increasing productivity into an erstwhile chaotic work environment. It should be noted also, that phlegms have innate leadership abilities although this ability is never brought to the fore until the state of things get messy and they are compelled to take up the position. They are usually content with a simple life-style and won t mind working in the civil service, military or government parastatal or wherever job security is assured. With a thorough understanding of the above, you should be able to pick accurately, the job that suits you best. For a more thorough and detailed study of the above, you can refer to Tim Lahaye s- Why you act the way you do. 14 w w w. p m t u t o r. o r g
