2016 January Celestial Timings by Cayelin K Castell Jenna, Ian, Jeremy and Ryan Christmas 2015 Best Holidays Ever! (BHE) I hope it is true for you as well and Happy, Happy 2016 New Year! I had the great delight of enjoying all four of my loving, talented, and FUN children for the Christmas Holiday. First my youngest, the Rapper, flew in from Colorado. His latest raps include a cleansing ritual for the co-dependent and Self-Love. Both are powerful expressions of his life journey so far and both areavailable on his website. My oldest son, Ryan drove down from Many Farms, Arizona (Northern Arizona on the Navajo Reservation) where he teaches High School Physics and Biology in new and creative ways. He is all about transforming our educational system. YAY My twins drove over from San Diego after Ian flew in from Germany where he is a stunt actor/entertainer at a theme park. He is also working on his own music, writing and recording songs that cover a wide range of styles and topics. Jenna, Ian s twin sister, just completed her first Iron Man last month. In case you don t know that is a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run all in one day. She is now training for the Boston Marathon. She is inspiring in her commitment to fitness and finding her sacred work. I also love how they are all story tellers and entertainers. They each have a gift for finding ways to share funny and entertaining stories. Needless to say we laughed a lot! It was February 2011 the last time I got to take a picture with all four of them (see bottom photo to the right). Not sure what the cosmic message is but I see that I am wearing pink both in February of 2011 and December Perhaps a reflection of my happy heart when I am with them 2016 January Celestial Timings by Cayelin Castell cayelincastell.com Page 1

Importance of the Sky In the ancient mystery teachings, knowledge of the interaction between Earth and Sky helped cultures thrive. It was a part of their daily life and understanding. These teachings and ways of life are now mostly forgotten, however, it is still true that knowledge of the sky and the cycles of the planets as they relate to the starry backdrop is a gift of guidance and understanding we can still give ourselves. The stars and planets inspire us with their mysterious beauty. Each star, comet, planet, etc. is uniquely encoded with specific mysteries we can access. Ancient shamanic practices around the world have honored and respected this relationship and that is the intent behind working with the Celestial Timings. In her book, Starwalking, Shamanic Practices For Traveling Into the Night Sky Page Bryant shares that star power for personal use begins with gratitude and reverence and asking yourself what gifts you are bringing to this exchange? Perhaps it is the gift of being witness to these mysteries? Attuning to these Celestial Cycles is a great place to begin, because it is similar to accepting an invitation to be witness to cosmic events that inform our growth and evolution. We decide whether we want to accept the invitation or not. Accepting the invitation opens the way for greater magic to happen in alignment with Great Mystery s divine plan for our lives. Will, Desire and Belief on the Road to Co-creation with Great Mystery Some say Desire is the cause of suffering. Actually, when humans are suppressing their desires it causes suffering. Another cause of suffering is being attached to how our desires manifest, however, that is a topic for another time. Desire is a part of life. Desire activates our Will and when our Will is activated that fuels our actions. Our Will is what brings desire into manifest form. If we believe we are not worthy of our desire that blocks its manifestation. This is in part due to lack of Will when we feel doubt, uncertainty or lack of worthiness in having what we Desire. Will operates through action. Desire operates through Feeling. That is why feeling a desire passionately is what activates our Will to take the necessary action. Belief operates through thinking and what we are intending or the intentions we have that are connected to our desire. It may be our desire is to feel good by expressing gratitude and living in alignment with the Divine Plan for our life. Once the desire is clear then our Will takes action, ideally expressing gratitude in ways that align our vibration with our Desire. Conscious Awareness of who we are, where we are going and what we desire is the source point that leads to manifestation in our reality. What we think about and how we feel is what we live January Celestial Timings by Cayelin Castell cayelincastell.com Page 3

Aligning Will with Desire Aligning our Will with our Desire is essential to the manifesting process as that is what drives our action and action (thinking action, feeling action and physical action) is the key to creating what we desire. What we believe either adds fuel to our desire or it adds uncertainty and doubt that gets in the way of taking the actions needed to manifest our desire. If you have a desire but don t believe you deserve to experience it then you are missing essential fuel needed to manifest that desire. It helps to believe that you will manifest and experience your desired outcome, otherwise all the action in the world will only produce minimal results at best. Attention Creates Our Reality Attention originates from the Latin root, meaning to reach out; or to stretch out, suggesting our reality is the result of what we reach for through our thoughts and feelings. Will is how we focus attention through the mental process. If you desire something enough it is easier to focus your attention in ways that bring that desire to you. So in that sense Will is an outward expression or manifestation of Spirit coming into form. When your Will is strong your thoughts and actions are focused - for example, if you set out to climb a mountain it is your desire and determination - your Will - to climb the mountain that ultimately gets you to the top. Your Will is Directed by Your Desire The desire to climb the mountain focuses your will to do what it takes to be successful. If you don t have sufficient Desire you will not have sufficient Will to climb the mountain. Desire is fueled by strong feelings or something you feel passionate about. If your Desire is strong, your Will is also strong, meaning you have the strength to do what is necessary to accomplish what you Desire. It may not happen in a day, or even a year. You might desire to have a child, either through a pregnancy or adoption, and depending on a lot of factors that can take months to realize. You might desire to be a great doctor or healing practitioner and that can take many years of training, but if your desire is strong you WILL do what it takes to accomplish that desire January Celestial Timings by Cayelin Castell cayelincastell.com Page 4

This is why the most successful Desires are based on a sense of Passion and Purpose. Without a sense of passionate purpose - Desire may not be sufficient enough to activate the Will to do what it takes. It seems a sense of Purpose drives Desire and a strong Desire activates your Will. Ideally this then aligns you with Divine Will. This means that what you desire is being drawn to you and you are being drawn toward your desire through focused attention. If you focus on the reasons why you don t think your Desire is possible for you then that will become your reality. If you focus on imagining and feeling what would be like to have your desire manifested in your life then that will (eventually) become your reality. Being able to imagine what you desire helps you to feel and believe it is possible, therefore becoming your reality. Here is to a wildly successful, magically joyous, and FUN 2016! January 2016 Sky The month of January is named after the Roman god Janus who had two faces one looking forward and the other looking back. This is a perfect imagery for the New Year as it is often a time to look back over the previous year and to look forward to the coming year. Many cultures based there year on the rising of certain stars. For example, the Hawaiians and the DRUIDS among others begin their New Year when the Pleiades is visible after sunset, currently happening in November. The ancient Egyptians began their New Year when Sirius rose before the Sun in the morning sky, currently happening in early August. In the current era we have Sirius on the Mid-Heaven at midnight on January 1. It is moving 1 degree every 72 years so Sirius will eventually no longer be on the Mid-Heaven on January 1. We could also pick another Star like Betelgeuse as it begins rising at sunset starting on December 31. Very prominent in the January sky is the Sacred Hoop of Stars as defined by the Lakota Nation. This Hoop includes Castor and Pollux, Procyon, Sirius, Rigel, the Pleiades and Capella. At the center of this Hoop is the Galactic Edge formed by the crossing of the Plane of our Solar System with the Plane of our Galaxy. Castor and Pollux rise just north of east in January. Castor leads the way with Pollux is rising about 25 minutes later. (So how far apart in degrees are Castor and Pollux?) If you look closely at the twins, Pollux is yellow star and Castor is white a white star. Pollux is brighter as it is about 10 light years closer to the Earth. Betelguese is the bright red star inside the Sacred Hoop Marking the shoulder of Orion. Some sources say Betelguese translates as armpit, as it is marking the shoulder or Armpit of Orion. Rigel is the bright Blue Star in the Hoop that is marking Orion s foot January Celestial Timings by Cayelin Castell cayelincastell.com Page 5

In January the Big Dipper stands up over the horizon looking like a question mark. This is opposite of the head of the Lion that appears as a reverse question mark with Regulus marking the dot. January Planets Early Morning January 2 the Moon forms a triangle with Mars and Spica begins with only Mercury in the evening sky for about the first week. Mercury turns retrograde on January 5, conjuncts the Sun on January 14 and moves into the morning Sky on January 20 though may not be easily visible until toward the end of January. By the end of January Mercury will also be to the lower left of Venus. Mercury is at -0.4 of magnitude around 10 above the southwest horizon about 30 minutes after sunset for those in mid northern latitudes as January begins. On January 8 Mercury is only 5 above the horizon at sunset dimming to a +1.8 magnitude. As Mercury enters the morning sky it is at a zero magnitude and within 8 to the lower left of Venus. Jupiter rises just around 10:30 pm New Year's Day and is rising at 8:30 pm by January 31. Jupiter is at-2.2 magnitude as January begins. Jupiter ends the month at -2.4 so brightening slightly over the month. Jupiter is stationing retrograde on January 7 moving back toward the head of the lion. Jupiter we'll be opposite the Sun and closest to the Earth in May. Mars rises around 1:30 AM on New Year's Day at around 1 AM as January comes to a close. Mars is about 6 from the slightly brighter Spica ending January about 1.3 North of Zubenelgenubi the star that marks the November Cross-Quarter and one of the pans of the Scales weighing the balance between the heart and mind. Mars reaches +0.8 magnitude as it grows brighter over the next few weeks and reaching its brightest appearance in May since Venus rises about three hours before the Sun on New Year's Day dropping lower on the horizon over the month and rising only two hours before the Sun by the end of January. Venus is also catching up to Saturn. The Moon passes Venus and Saturn on January 6 and 7. In the early morning of January 9 Saturn shines less than a half a degree to the upper right of Venus for North Americans. (see January 9 for Star Map) Venus is -4.0 magnitude this month, about 60 times brighter than Saturn at +0.5 magnitude. Venus begins January close to the fixed star Dschubba (the eye of the Dragon or the Eye of the Scorpion) and is visible at the back end of the arrow of the archer as January ends. Saturn is brighter than Antares about 7 and Antares is to the lower right of both Venus and Saturn January Celestial Timings by Cayelin Castell cayelincastell.com Page 6

Pluto (very near an exact zodiacal alignment with the Star Vega) conjuncts the Sun on January 6, the day for honoring the Magi. Earth reaches its annual perihelion or closest approach to the Sun on January 2. The Moon is near Mars and Spica on January 3 and is visible approaching Venus and Saturn on January 6 and just past them on January 7 in the Morning Sky. The Moon occults Aldebaran on January 19. This is the 14th occultation in the series of 49 that occur into September of Aldebaran disappears on the dark background of a large gibbous Moon so it requires focus to catch the moment the star disappears behind the Moon. It will reappear on the bright side of the Moon and will be even more challenging to see. The Moon passes 3 to the right of Regulus on January 25 and 4 below Jupiter on January 26. Jupiter is visible near the hindfoot of the Lion. Comet Catalina January 1 Comet Catalina passes by Arcturus heading toward the handle of the Big Dipper and the pan of the Little Dipper in mid to late January. The comet is expected to pass closest to the earth on January 12 as it passes the star Mizar - the middle star of the handle of the Big Dipper. Its trajectory as it passes through our solar system is sending it to interstellar space and it is thought that this comet will be one and done meaning it isn t expected to return to our part of the Galaxy. The Quadrantid Meteor Shower peaks on January 3 and 4 around 3 am Eastern Time and around midnight Pacific Time. This meteor shower is visible off the handle of the Big Dipper between the head of Bootes and the arch in the back of the Dragon, also known as Draco. The radiant is reasonably high by 1 am local time and climbs higher until dawn this is important because the higher the radiant the more meteors appear all over the sky January Celestial Timings by Cayelin Castell cayelincastell.com Page 7

The January issue of Sky and Telescope magazine featured the constellation Eridanus, the River. It is the largest constellation in our night sky and begins near the bright star Rigel in the constellation of Orion. This river has mystic ties to the story of Phaethon who was the mortal son of Helios, the God who drove the Sun across the sky in his chariot. Phaethon attempted this task but was unable to control the fiery steeds that pulled the chariot. The horses ran wild when they traveled through the constellation of the Bull and the Lion, pulling the chariot way too close to the house or palace of the gods. Then the horses flew to close to the Earth setting the ground on fire. Zeus sent his thunderbolt toward the chariot and it fell from the sky with Phaethon's charred remains falling into the river Eridanus. Gravitational Waves Sky and Telescope magazine had a great article on gravitational waves in their December issue. These waves are described as illusive space-time ripples from the distant universe. Albert Einstein described gravitational waves in 1916 as part of his General Theory of Relativity though he never thought the minuscule quick rings of space-time might actually be detectable. Govert Schilling says a century after Einstein predicted the existence of weak ripples in space-time, scientists are on the verge of directly detecting these gravitational waves, thereby opening a revolutionary new window on the universe. Gravitational waves travel at the speed of light but they are not part of the electromagnetic spectrum like radio waves and x-rays are. These gravitational waves are extremely small in amplitude, yet they affect the fabric of space-time occurring when stars explode or orbit a black hole. The bigger the mass, the stronger the acceleration, then the more powerful the gravitational waves are. Gravitational Waves are all over the universe meaning they are everywhere because space is everywhere January Celestial Timings by Cayelin Castell cayelincastell.com Page 8

Daily Celestial Timings Events for January 2016 Times are PST unless otherwise noted January 1, Friday. Happy New Year The Libra Last Quarter Moon (11 Libra 14') is the exact at 9:30 pm. Mercury enters Aquarius at 6:21 pm. January 2, Saturday. Jupiter and the North Node are inching closer to their exact conjunction and the Moon passes by Spica. Spica and Regulus are two of fifteen Behenian Stars thought to have their power and accessibility enhanced when planets passed within 6 degrees. The Behenian fixed star Spica marks the hand of the Virgin Priestess (aka the constellation Virgo-see Difference between Signs and Constellations where she is sometimes thought to be holding corn or wheat. Other interpretations are derived from a Greek word meaning "the Singing Sibyl" (who spoke prophesies). In Babylonia Spica was known as Sa-Sha-Shiru, the Virgin's Girdle and the Hindus knew this star as Citra, meaning "Bright" and it was their 12th nakshatra, figured as a Lamp, or as a Pearl. With the Bright Moon acting as a transmitter for Spica it suggests a bright beginning for 2016 especially when we take time to tune in to what the messages are for us. Many cultures had different names and descriptions for Spica. This suggests it is up to us to develop our own relationship with Spica and the other fixed stars as we are continually in a growing evolving relationship with them. When considering Spica, there is a sense of being open to the prophetic messages that may be available now further empowering New Year s intentions. January 3, Sunday. Moon enters Scorpio at 6:33 am and the Moon enters Scorpio at 11:36 am catching up to Mars at 11:51 am. January 4, Monday. The Quadrantids Meteor Shower Peaks. January 5, Tuesday. Mercury (01 Aquarius03') squares Mars (01 Scorpio 03') at 5:00 am Mercury (01 Aquarius 03') stations retrograde at 5:06 am and stations direct at 14 Capricorn 55' on January 2016 January Celestial Timings by Cayelin Castell cayelincastell.com Page 9

25 at 1:50 pm. Venus (07 Sagittarius 40') is square Neptune (07 Pisces 40') at 7:33 am. The Sun makes his annual conjunction to Pluto (15 Capricorn14') at 8:28 pm in zodiacal alignment with the star Vega. The Moon enters Sagittarius at 10:56 pm. January 6, Wednesday. Epiphany also known as the "The Adoration of the Magi" or "The Manifestation of God" is the date that ends the twelve days of Christmas as calculated in traditional times. This is the time when the Three Kings, Three Wise Men or Three Magi: Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar are honored for following the star to Bethlehem and bringing the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the Christ child. In some calendars, January 6 was the original date celebrating the birth of Christ and is still recognized and celebrated by the Eastern Christian Church. However, in the fourth century, the Western Christian Church adopted December 25 as the date to celebrate Christ's birth beginning the tradition of the 12 Days of Christmas. The Moon catches up to Venus at 4:54 pm and to Saturn at 9:27 pm near Antares. This Venus Moon conjunction marks the 5 th Gate 3 rd Chakra as Venus continues her descent into the underworld. Antares is one of the four Royal stars known to the Persians as "The Watcher of the West". The ancients believed that as a Royal Star Antares had the power to bring great success but could also be the cause of a great undoing or downfall if the driven by excessive obsessiveness actions were coming from excess. The Antares stargate near Galactic Center and the Golden Gate of Sagittarius is where the souls of humanity ascend away from this realm. The ancient Egyptians understood Antares as a portal to the pyramid mysteries and built temples sites and pyramids with specific features for capturing Antares rising. The pyramid mysteries remind us that every level of physical manifestation and evolution is related to sacred geometric pyramidal forms facilitating energetic dimensional shifts. For humanity to move beyond threedimensional reality, we are required to go integrate these three-dimensional pyramidal light fields. This is why the ancients saw the pyramids as a gateway to the stars and universal intelligence, because pyramids synthesize space, time, and matter forming the ideal focus for star energy transmissions. Visualizing these stargates as three dimensional pyramids of light can open the way for receiving the transmission the Moon, Venus and Saturn are sending us from Antares January Celestial Timings by Cayelin Castell cayelincastell.com Page 10

January 7, Thursday. The Sun (16 Capricorn 37') squares Uranus (16 Aries 37') at 4:22 am. Jupiter (23 Virgo14') stations retrograde at 8:40 pm. January 8, Friday. The Moon enters Capricorn at 7:07 am. The Sun (17 Capricorn 43') is sextile Chiron (17 Pisces 43') at 7:15 am. Mercury enters Capricorn at 11:37 am. Retrograde Mercury reenters Capricorn at 12:36 pm. Venus catches up to Saturn (12 Sagittarius 01') at 8:11 pm. January 9, Saturday. The Moon catches up to Pluto at 10:40 am just before the Capricorn New Moon (19 Capricorn13') is the exact at 5:30 pm. This is time for seeding new systems of manifestation that are based in cooperation. The old system says we have to work hard to create structures in the third dimensional world of form. Abraham reminds us that: People will say, "Well, I have to work on my goals," or "I have to work on my visualization." And we want you to think more about holding the vision because it is pleasurable to hold the vision, not because you're trying to make the vision work in order to get to some place that you're not now standing. "How much should I work?" We would say, work in the sense of joyously moving forward. ~Abraham/EstherHicks January 10, Sunday. The Moon enters Aquarius at 12:23 pm and catches up to retrograde Mercury at 9:39 am. January 11, Monday. Jupiter and the North Node are now within half a degree of each other with the first exact conjunction on January 23 and the second on January 28 January 12, Tuesday. The Moon enters Pisces at 3:53 pm.
