Well, the world is still in one piece in spite of that rather terrific T-square of outer planets. If our resident conspiracy expert is right, all the kerfuffle is being concealed and we simply don t know about it. So long as it is concealed by this glorious winter Sun [yes I know we need rain!] we might just not notice. Last Sunday, July 25 th, we had our traditional Four Speakers Day at the 7 th Ave Bar & Restaurant in Midland, and it went off well. There was a good variety of talks: Chinese four-pillars astrology, essential dignities and their derivation, astronomy and the development of the moon, and spirituality in the chart. I would like to thank the committee for their hard work, and for the fact that it all went off so smoothly. We are a fairly well-oiled team! The meals were good too, as were the markets outside. We came home with 100 organic oranges and some loaves of good bread. The next two events off the mark are a very special Astro- Chat for September 2 nd in the Marjorie Ave studio, and Zane Stein s teaching visit over the first weekend of October. At the time of this writing, we have just confirmed the astro-chat speaker, -a young mother who sees and travels into other dimensions. She loves astrology, and we will look at her chart and listen to her experiences. This should give an insight into the astrology of a person with advanced spiritual powers. The lady is Linda Vuleta Cull, who comes recommended by Chris Lambert. She is a warm and interesting person, and this should be a good evening. Zane Stein is confirmed for a day-and-a-half workshop. He is a specialist in Chiron and the Centaur group of celestial bodies. We just recently received a sample of his writing on the subject of Chiron returns, and he has a very clear and strong concept of how this stillmysterious body works. (You will find this further on in the newsletter). This is an event not to be missed, and we all have much to learn from him. Jeannette *********** Breaking News just in from our President The Horary Craftsman Jeannette Lewis-Hill has completed her course in Horary Astrology with John Frawley and has been awarded the title of Horary Craftsman. She began the course after John visited Perth under the ample wing of the FAAWA a few years ago. In order to pass, the student must complete 11 extensive lessons by , and finally submit a horary prediction that has to come true. In this case, the question was asked near the end of a pregnancy: when will my baby be born? The answer was given and proved to be correct within a couple of hours. Additional information about the course of the birth was supplied and was also correct. Questions, anyone?? Congratulations from us all Jeannette Moved house or changed your address? 3 Coming shortly Zane Stein About Zein Stein - Zane B Stein was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, June 17, 1951, and first began studying astrology in In 1978, he pioneered astrological exploration of the newly discovered Chiron, and is considered the leading authority on this body. His groundbreaking book, "Essence and Application: A View from Chiron" revolutionized modern astrology, and is still the most widely read text on the subject. He is currently seeking to unravel the meanings of the other Centaurean bodies, Trans- Neptunians, and some of the more unique asteroids. Zane has a private astrological practice in Atlanta, and is a proud father and grandfather. Zane Stein Chiron In very ancient times, Chiron, the Wounded Healer, was originally a god of healing. In later mythology, as a teacher of heroes and an oracle, he survived as one of the centaurs. These wild creatures, half man and half horse, were not noted either for their sensitivity, or their intelligence and represented mankind's attachment to the lower animal passions. 4 Immortal Son of Saturn The Chiron Return by Zane B. Stein Astrology is the study of celestial cycles, and astrologers pay special attention to those moments when a body returns to where it was at a person s birth. For example, we have a Lunar Return every month, a Solar Return every year, and a Saturn Return every 29 years, and each such return represents the closing of one cycle, the start of another. These returns tell us a lot, if we choose to listen. The Chiron Return occurs once, or if we are lucky enough to live long enough, twice in a lifetime. Because Chiron s orbit is perturbed by the huge bodies Saturn and Uranus, the length of one cycle can be anywhere from 46 to 52 years, but people living today can expect a return between age 50 and 51. The time around 50 or so is usually a time when old friendships are treated more warmly, and seem more worthwhile than ever before. The harsh relations with colleagues, caused by years of competition, usually begin to soften at this time. Even difficulties with relatives often begin to be less troublesome now. Overall, there is a feeling at this time that one has completely formed one s personality. As George Orwell wrote, At fifty, everyone has the face he deserves. When Chiron returns, it brings with it a feeling of destiny, a need to look straight upon one s feeling of having a purpose in life, and during this period, one has the opportunity to make major decisions in life which will set the course for the entire rest of one s life. But in order to understand this time in one's life one must first go back and understand a little of Chiron s meaning at birth. At one s birth, people around the world are worrying over issues that relate to the sign Chiron is transiting. The child s parents, like everyone else, are trying to overcome obstacles, find solutions to problems and (to varying degrees), become a bit preoccupied by difficulties they are trying to deal with. Of course each family is different, so the individual problems a family faces will take on different aspects of Chiron s sign. But however they manifest, the child s mind becomes imprinted with the importance of these particular problems, and grows up with a kind of personal imperative to find solutions. As one grows up, and Chiron travels from one house to the next, one must deal with a new problem here, a new slant on an old problem there. Each new problem resolved gives the developing individual new experience, and serves to sharpen the problem-solving skills. While this is going on, one continues to retain the basic personal imperative inherent in 4 P a g e

5 their natal Chiron position, so one tries to integrate each new lesson into their matrix so they can better solve those most important issues. As the Chiron return approaches, one has experienced every possible Chiron-to-Chiron aspect; passages of Chiron through every house, and through every sign one has had to deal with problems from every possible direction, and from all perspectives. Hopefully, one has learned a great deal from all of these experiences in life. At the Chiron return, the world is once again contending with problems that relate to Chiron s sign. One hears about the issues in the news, and from one s neighbours and coworkers. And to the person experiencing the return, they feel quite familiar, because they have spent a lifetime trying to resolve those types of problems. Around them, they see people distraught, perplexed, confused, and yet to the person experiencing the return, many of the solutions seem quite clear, perhaps even obvious. At this time, one is outside of traditional Chronological time, and has entered into Chiros. This is time outside of time, the time when one focuses on some major decisions. Should one help others with what one has learned? Should the Chiron-return individual become a guru, a teacher, or even become the mentor for a younger individual? Should the person begin to try to counsel others? Or will the person attempt to make a profit from his or her knowledge and experience, becoming a creature of the material world, and selling the information? Or will they chose the most self-centred choice and close up, withdraw? One now has more opportunities to assert their free will than at any other time in life, and can make an evolutionary leap.but one must make the choice. For some people, the return is a very critical time in personal terms. They may develop a major illness, or a serious life-crisis. But even when the Chiron return comes on with such force, the purpose is the same. This crisis gives a major opportunity to make a major decision. Out of such crises come great awareness, and the potential to become a truly gifted teacher, or even healer. What one chooses to do at the Chiron return sets the course for the years to come. Time and again, I ve seen those who have chosen to share what they learn experience their second Saturn Return as simply a smooth transition to another phase of life, while those who have pulled inside their shell at the Chiron Return experience their late 50 s as a difficult, frustrating and often depressing period. In each person s life, the opportunity to achieve freedom from the Saturnian past, and freedom from anxiety about the Uranian future, comes around the fiftieth year---at the Chiron Return. *********** 5 P a g e

7 Have Your Say on National Exams Tess Cullen, who is Head of the FAA Exams Board, has circulated a questionnaire to members who are familiar with the Exams system, or indeed, any person with ideas or comments on aspects of the exams. The form is included in this issue, and we would encourage people to have a say, even if you only answer a few of the questions. The National Committee works hard to achieve high standards for Australian astrologers, and our Western voice would be most welcome in these matters. you can find the PDF document that this message from Tess Cullen refers to on the attachment bar of this . Hi, I am sending this request out to all branches of the FAA to help distribute a survey I have compiled regarding the FAA Examination System. I am hoping you can distribute some at your next meeting. There is also a downloadable copy on the FAA website on the Exam page. We haven t reviewed the system in this way since its inception and I believe it will keep help to keep the system healthy and allow many a chance to give feedback. People do not need to be FAA members to complete the survey. I would regard an interest in astrology to be the only essential prerequisite.
