1 NEWSLETTER A U G U S T THE ROAR Hey kids, its Roary, your favorite mascot here! Welcome to the first edition of my Cub Club newsletter for the season. I m so glad that you re a member of the Cub Club. I hope you ve had a great summer. During the off season we have been pretty busy here at Ford Field. In addition to my travels around the community for appearances, I helped out with our Lions Youth Football Camps and spent time assisting with the renovations here at Ford Field. I also got some cool new threads- always feels great to break in a new jersey. I love the look of our new uniforms and I hope that you do too! I can t wait for football season to get started and I hope you re excited too. I m looking forward seeing you at the game and hearing you ROAR! Go Lions! UPCOMING EVENTS ROARY S CUB CLUB MVP MEMBERSHIP KITS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PICK UP AT THE FOLLOWING DETROIT LIONS EVENTS: 8/25/17: Detroit Lions vs New England Patriots pre-season home game at the Cub Club table located near section 347 until the end of halftime. You must have a game ticket to enter the stadium. 9/10/17: Detroit Lions vs Arizona Cardinals home game at the Cub Club table located near section 347 until the end of halftime. You must have a game ticket to enter the stadium. If payment was made for your Cub Club membership kit to be mailed, you can expect to receive it in the mail very soon. FREE FACE PAINTING AT LIONS HOME GAMES Coming to the game? Remember to stop by the Roary s Cub Club table located near section 347 at Lions home games for free face painting until halftime. CUB CLUB MEMBER EVENTS Roary s Cub Club MVP members will receive invitations to events this season on non-game days. Roary will celebrate his birthday with Cub Club members at one of these events. 3 FIND ROARY 30 by 30 delta maze Copyright 2017 JGB Service, BEHIND THE PRIDE Fans coming to Ford Field this season should notice lots of new elements in the stadium as it has undergone a one hundredmillion-dollar renovation this summer. This is the first major renovation for the Lions home field which opened in Elements of the renovation touched all areas of the building. Suites on the North and South side of the field were completely rebuilt with new furniture, TV s, and the club levels on the North and South sides were given a top to bottom facelift including new leather chairback seats that offer more legroom. New suite areas and loge boxes foursome seat groups that include waitress service, were added to the club level as well. Several elements of the renovations were made to areas of the stadium that all fans can access. The Corner Lounge got a complete makeover and will now serve as a restaurant that fans can sit in and dine before or during a game, and renovations were also done to the second-floor landing up the escalator from Gate A to provide fans with more space to gather before the game. Some concession stands were renovated to offer new food items and grab and go food options. Ford Field also got a brand new wifi system which will allow fans to keep up better with their fantasy football teams and social media accounts. A new sound system was installed, bringing concert-level sound to Ford Field for gameday, and brand new larger videoboards bring HD-quality footage and game replays to fans along with new ribbon boards that go all the way around the seating bowl. 4 HEALTHY RECIPE HAM AND PINEAPPLE PITA PIZZAS INGREDIENTS 4 pitas 8 oz deli ham, sliced 1-8oz ball of fresh mozzarella 1-8oz can of pineapple chucks, drained (optional) oregano and parmesan cheese INSTRUCTIONS 1. Slice ball of fresh mozzarella into eight slices. 2. Heat oven to 425 degrees. 3. Drain can of pineapple chunks. 4. Place the pitas on a baking sheet. Layer with the ham, mozzarella, and pineapple. 5. Bake until the pitas are crisp and the cheese has melted, 10 to 12 minutes. NOTES Add oregano and parmesan cheese sprinkles to add additional flavor. HEALTHY HABITS JUMP AROUND! Whether you re indoors or outdoors, you can get some great exercise just by jumping around. Whether that s jumping rope or jumping while dancing, there are some tremendous health benefits to letting your two feet leave the ground. 1. HEALTHY HEART Jumping is a cardiovascular exercise and gives the heart a healthy and organic workout. 2. STRONGER CORE When you jump, it involves virtually all major muscle groups in the body. The core muscles are used both to jump and to land back on your two feet. This is one way your core is strengthened. 3. STRONGER MUSCLES AND BONES Jumping motions tend to be strenuous in nature involving major muscles and bone in the body. With a simultaneous impact and flex to keep the body go up and land, muscles and bones are bound to get stronger. 4. IMPROVED COORDINATION Jumping may help you develop better coordination overall. Both sides of the brain and body work together to maintain balance and coordination. 5. WEIGHT LOSS Jumping and dancing is a great way to burn calories, assisting with maintaining a healthy weight. 6. STRONGER LYMPHATIC SYSTEM Experts say jumping can boost what s called your lymphatic system. This means the amount of toxins in the body are better managed. That can help you get sick less often. 7. LEANER BODY Kids can jump up and down to keep their body toned up. A leaner body is possible with jumping as cardiovascular exercises are good for physical motion. This will benefit you even more if you re playing sports. The Lions and the NFL promote healthy activity and children getting 60 minutes of physical activity daily.
