Events/(15 MeV) (a) LHCb data total fit background P c(4450) P c(4380) Λ(1405) Λ(1520) Λ(1600) Λ(1670) Λ(1690) Λ(1800) Λ(1810) Λ(1820) Λ(1830) Λ(1890) Λ(2100) Λ(2110) m K p [GeV] Events/(15 MeV) (b)! 9 Amplitude analysis of Λ 0 b J/ψpπ Yields/ (25 MeV) LHCb Data RM N*+Z c +2P c EM N* P c(4450) P c(4380) Z c(4200) m pπ [GeV] Yields/ (50 MeV) (a) LHCb m J/ψ p [GeV] No obvious structure in m(j/ψp). Breit-Wigners for all resonances. Flatte for N(1535) to account for the threshold of nη channel. Check consistency with the two P c states from Λ 0 b J/ψpK Xuesong Liu(Tsinghua University) Exotic baryons at LHCb December 18, / 17
10 Amplitude analysis of Λ 0 b J/ψpπ Yields/ (25 MeV) LHCb Data RM N*+Z c +2P c EM N* P c(4450) P c(4380) Z c(4200) m pπ [GeV] Yields/ (75 MeV) (b) LHCb Z(4200) N + 2P c + Z N only m J/ψ π [GeV] Yields/ (50 MeV) 40 (b) LHCb N + 2P c + Z N only m J/ψ p [GeV] Introduce exotic states can significantly improve N fit quality. Significance of two P c is 3.3σ, if assume production of Z c (4200) is negligible. No independent confirmation of P c + states. Significance of both type of exotics taken together is 3.9σ, with syst. considerated is 3.1σ Xuesong Liu(Tsinghua University) Exotic baryons at LHCb December 18, / 17
11 Amplitude analysis of Λ 0 b J/ψpπ 15 established N states Reduced(RM): central values Extended(EM): syst. +signif. State J P M0 (MeV) 0 (MeV) RM EM NR p 1/ N(1440) 1/ N(1520) 3/ N(1535) 1/ N(1650) 1/ N(1675) 5/ N(1680) 5/ N(1700) 3/ N(1710) 1/ N(1720) 3/ N(1875) 3/ N(1900) 3/ N(2190) 7/ N(2220) 9/ N(2250) 9/ N(2600) 11/ N(2300) 1/ N(2570) 5/ Free parameters Without the high-mass and low spin N (N(2300), N(2570)), the exotic states have more than 5σ Better understanding conventional resonances is important for exotic searches. R = 0.58 ± 0.05 % Overall outlook: J/ψpπ data is consistent with P c s seen in J/ψpK Xuesong Liu(Tsinghua University) Exotic baryons at LHCb December 18, / 17
13 Search for Ξ b J/ψΛK Ξ b J/ψΛK decays is similar to that of Λ 0 b J/ψpK b Ξ b (Λ0 b ) d s (u) W (a) c J/ψ c s ū K u d Λ(p) s (u) Ξ b b d s W (b) c c s d u ū s J/ψ Λ K A strange hidden-charm pentaquark state, decaying into J/ψΛ 1 can be searched through Ξ b J/ψΛK decays. 14 Analysis strategy for Ξ b J/ψΛK Using 3 fb 1 full Run-I data Measure the branching fraction related to Λ 0 b J/ψΛ R = f Ξ b f B(Ξ b J/ψΛK ) Λ 0 B(Λ 0 b b J/ψΛ) = N(Ξ b J/ψΛK ) N(Λ 0 b J/ψΛ) ɛtot Λ 0 b ɛ tot Ξ b f Ξ / f b Λ 0 is the ratio of fragmentation fractions b Fiducial range: p T < 25 GeV, 2.0 < y < 4.5 on b-baryons BDTG is used to futher discriminate between signal and combinatorial background Efficiencies estimated with simulation and data Xuesong Liu(Tsinghua University) Exotic baryons at LHCb December 18, / 17

16 Observation of Ξ b J/ψΛK decays Results R Ξ b /Λ0 b f Ξ b B(Ξ b J/ψΛK ) f Λ 0 B(Λ 0 b b J/ψΛ) = (4.19 ± 0.29(stat.) ± 0.14(syst.)) 10 2 δm M(Ξ b ) M(Λ0 b ) = ± 0.47 ± 0.16 MeV/c2 A simultaneous fit is performed to the four samples, and the fit gives an identical results for the ratio R Ξ. b /Λ0 b Consistent with the LHCb measurement using open-charm decays: δm = ± 0.46 ± 0.16 MeV/c 2. 17 Conclusions Λ 0 b J/ψpπ analysis supports the pentaquark states observed in the amplitude analysis in Λ 0 b J/ψpK decays Ξ b J/ψΛK decay is first observed, the δm between Λ 0 b and Ξ b is measured. Full amplitude analysis will perform after LHC Run-II! Several analysis processing are digging the structure and physics nature of pentaquarks in LHCb Λ b J/ψpπKs 0 Λ b χ c1 (1P)pK Λ b Λ + c D 0 K... 19 The LHCb Experiment [IJMP A30(2015) ] LHCb is single-arm(2 < η < 5) spectrometer at the LHC CP violation measurements, rare decays, heavy flavour decays as source for exotic hadrons Exploit the correlated production of b b pairs in LHC environment Clean B-hadron samples through excellent vertex resolution:o( ) m(velo) Flavor tagging, final state discrimination needs excellent particle ID (RICH) Highly efficient trigger: di-muons, displaced vertices (topological B-hadron),.. 20 Pentaquark states in Λ 0 b J/ψpK [PRL115(2015)072001] State Mass(MeV) Width(MeV) Fit fraction(%) P c (4380) ± 8 ± ± 18 ± ± 0.7 ± 4.2 P c (4450) ± 1.7 ± ± 5 ± ± 0.5 ± 1.1 Obtain good fits with reduced Λ + 2 Pentaquarks model. Best fits has J P = (3/2, 5/2 + ), also (3/2 +, 5/2 ) and (5/2 +, 3/2 ) are preferred. 21 Some details of Λ 0 b J/ψpπ analysis Six-dimensional amplitude fit: resonance invariant mass, three helicities angles, and two differences between decay planes Lorentz transformations relates the two helicity representantions Λb rest frame ψ rest frame φ π P c P c θ μ π ψ Pc μ P c θ Λ b + μ ψ ψ p N * + μ θ Pc p φ Pc π φ P ψ c π μ P c rest frame ψ N * Λb lab frame Resonances described by Breit-Wigner Angular distribution calculated using helicity formalism.
