It would be above the normal level and the riverbank would probably be flooded. d. If heavy rain is forecast for the area for the next 24 hours, what reading might you expect to see on the gauge tomorrow? Explain your reasoning. If it were to rain heavily for the next 24 hours I would expect the river level to rise up to the normal level. It would bring the river back to the expected level. Depending on how severe the rain is, it could even cause a flooding to occur.
