Collimator Goal : define the neutron beam shape Status on October 2015

The thin converter A thin lithium converter is needed for quasi-mono-energetic neutrons production The low melting point of Lithium makes cooling by radiation inefficient -> water cooling Requests : Power deposition as high as possible Usable without dismounting the rotating converter Safety constrains Two converters Delivered in February 2016 Installed in September 2016

The rotating converter Production of neutrons with continuous energy spectrum Last part delivered in June 2016 The Failure modes and effects analysis was performed: the conception is safe Under tests at CEA/IRFU/Saclay until June 2017 Transfer to NFS in second semester of 2017 Translation system delivered

Irradiation station and sample transfer system For irradiation of samples by ions Connected to pneumatic transfer system for activity measurement Experiment at Rez with beam (10-11 nov 2016) Installation at NFS in beginning of 2017

The second collimator and the neutron beam line For experiment at long distance, a 2 ND collimator is needed for: - resizing the neutron beam - shielding detectors from background Beam line under construction at IPHC Strasbourg (Delivery in June 2017) Vacuum system delivered Collimator design and construction realized by IPHC Strasbourg

Neutron monitoring Detector based on liquid scintillator EJ309 Neutron spectrum and flux measurement by the TOF technique n-γ discrimination by pulse shape analysis Characterization o at Ganil reaction 10,5 MeV/A Kr + Cu Light response between 5 and 30 MeV o at CEA/DIF Mono-energetic neutrons at 4, 5, 6 and 15 MeV Efficiency measurement Proton recoil telescope CH2 radiator + ΔE-ΔE-E Si telescope Prototype tested at GANIL

The single bunch selector Reduce the LINAC beam frequency below 1MHz select 1 bunch over N, N>100 The single bunch selector is composed of : A magnet deflects the Low Energy Beam Scraper : under construction at the Ganil Workshop Vacuum chamber and electrodes : installed at INFN-LNS, the new meanders have been successfully tested SBS control electronic : under work at INFN-LNS The power supply needs to be repaired Deviating magnet Scraper
