Problem 1: A box contains n + 1 coins, the i-th coin when flipped will turn head with probability (i 1)/n for i = 1, 2,..., n + 1. A coin is romly selected then repeatedly flipped. What is the conditional probability that the i-th coin was selected given that the first n trials all result in heads? Solution: Let H be the event that the coin is flipped n times all flips showed head. Let E i denote the event that the i-th coin is chosen. What is the probability to sell the stock with a win of $30? Solution: The probability is the same as for a gambler who starts with the fortune of $20 wins all when reaching $50.
