2 RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS 1. Provided evidence for the systematic violation of the viscosity bound in controllable examples in string theory. This happens due to the presence of fundamental matter. 2. Using holographic techniques, found evidence for the Cardy conjecture (c-theorems) in arbitrary dimensions. The 4d theorem called the a-theorem was proven after our work. Gave a novel interpretation of the monotonic quantity in an RG flow in odd dimensions in terms of entanglement entropy. Subsequently this conjecture in 3d was proved by Casini and Huerta. 3. Found evidence using path integral techniques that the deviation from the naive application of the superposition principle in slit based interference experiments due to winding paths around slits can be big enough to be measured. This was a focus article in Physical Review Letters. Subsequently, these paths have been experimentally detected. 4. Found evidence for universality of anomalous dimensions for operators with large spin and large twist in conformal field theories using bootstrap techniques. 5. Developed a new method to do conformal bootstrap which uses Witten diagrams. This method reproduces old results of the Wilson-Fisher epsilon expansion of critical exponents and produces new analytic results that are unavailable using conventional techniques including Feynman diagrams. arxiv: appeared in PRL.
