This paper is a preface to the proceedings of the XXX International Conference on Interaction of Intense Energy Fluxes with Matter, which was held in Elbrus settlement, in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic of the Russian Federation, from March 1 6, Introduction The XXX International Conference on Interaction of Intense Energy Fluxes with Matter (IIEFM-2015) was held at the Educational-Scientific Base of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University in Elbrus settlement, in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic of the Russian Federation, from Sunday, March 1, to Friday, March 6, 2015 ( This thirtieth meeting (figure 1) continued a regular series of conferences on high-energydensity physics, which began at the I National Session on Equations of State for Matter held in Cheget (in the vicinity of Mount Elbrus, Russia) in Conference location Elbrus settlement is 18 km from Mount Elbrus (the highest peak of the Caucasus at 5642 m, figure 2), 120 km from Nalchik, which is the capital of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic, and 200 km far from Mineralnye Vody, where the nearest international airport is located. Elbrus settlement is situated in the valley of the Baksan River (figure 3), which begins on Mount Elbrus. All settlements in the valley (Itkol, Cheget and Terskol) are famous ski resorts at an altitude of approximately 2000 m. This valley is in a National Park which is a region of extreme natural beauty. It is recommended to visit Mount Elbrus by cable car for seeing the Greater Caucasus range with permanent snow from the Old Krugozor (3000 m) and Mir (3500 m) stations. 3. They submitted 266 abstracts with results of works of 603 co-authors from 102 institutions from 10 countries (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Germany, USA, France, Turkey, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Japan). 200 participants arrived at the sessions from different cities in Russia, Germany and Turkey (figure 4). 8. Scientific program The conference program consisted of 1 plenary, 83 regular oral and 182 poster presentations Plenary At the opening of conference sessions, academic Fortov gave a plenary talk on correlation and quantum effects in strongly coupled plasmas Oral sessions There were 73 regular talks presented during 4 consecutive sessions: Power interaction with matter; Shock waves, detonation and combustion; Equations of state for matter; Physics of low temperature plasma Poster session All posters were presented during a common poster session on March 3,

7 9. Best young poster prize Among young participants, traditionally, a competition for the best poster prize is carried out. Prizes went to: Evgeniya V Vilshanskaya (Joint Institute for High Temperatures RAS, Moscow, Russia) Identifications of Rydberg transitions in ultracold lithium atoms using precise wavemeter ; Inna A Martynova (Joint Institute for High Temperatures RAS, Moscow, Russia) On melting density gap and non-congruence of phase transitions in models of dusty and colloid plasmas ; Irina S Ustinova (Ural Federal University, Ekaterinburg, Russia) Effect of the external influences on the electrical properties of the high pressure perovskite-like phases of CaCu 3 Ti 4 x V x O Prospects The next meeting of the series will be the XXXI International Conference on Equations of State for Matter, which is planned in vicinity of Mount Elbrus during March 1 6, That will be announced via the website Acknowledgments We thank all of the conference participants and the proceedings authors, as well as all of the conference organizers.
