The aim of the paper is to erive specal estimates on the eigenvalue moments of the magnetic Dirichlet Laplacian efine on the two-imensional is with a raially symmeic magnetic fiel. 1. Inouction Let us consier a particle in a omainωinr in the presence of a magnetic fiel B. We efine the -imensional magnetic Laplacian associate to this particle as follows: Let A be a magnetic potential associate to B, i.e. a smooth real value-function onω R verifying rot (A)=B. The magnetic Dirichlet Laplacian is initially efine on C (Ω) by H Ω (A)=(i A). Uner the assumptions thatωis a boune omain an that A satisfies mil regularity conitions, which means that in particular the magnetic fiel B L loc (R ) an the corresponing magnetic potential A L (Ω), the magnetic Sobolev norm (i A)u L (Ω), u H 1 (Ω), is close an equivalent to the non-magnetic one, so the self-ajoint Frierich s extension has a purely iscrete specum as in the non-magnetic case. In the paper we also consier the case when the magnetic fiel grows to infinity as the variable approaches the bounary an has a non zero infimum B(z) as z Ω an K := inf B(z)>. (1.1) In view of the lower boun (H Ω (A)(u), u) L (Ω) B(z) u (z) z, one again can consuct the Frierich s extension of H Ω (A) initially efine on C (Ω). Moreover, it still has a purely iscrete specum [T1]. For simplicity, we will use for the Frierich s extension the same symbol H Ω (A), an we shall enote the increasingly orere sequence of its eigenvalues byλ =λ (Ω, A). 1 Ω
The purpose of this paper is to establish bouns of the eigenvalue moments of such operators. Let us recall the following boun which was prove by Berezin, Li an Yau for non-magnetic Dirichlet Laplacians on a omainωinr [Be7a, Be7b, LY83], (Λ λ (Ω, )) L cl, Ω Λ for any 1 an Λ>, (1.) where Ω is the volume ofω, an the constant on the right-han sie, L cl, = Γ(1) (4π) Γ(1/), (1.3) is optimal. Moreover, for <1, the boun (1.) still exists, but with another constant on the right-han sie [La97] ( (Λ λ (Ω, )) ) L cl, 1 Ω Λ, <1. (1.4) In the magnetic case, in view of the pointwise iamagnetic inequality which means that uner the rather general assumptions on the magnetic potentials [LL1] u(x) (i A)u(x) for a.a. x Ω, we get thatλ 1 (Ω, A) λ 1 (Ω, ). However, the estimateλ j (Ω, A) λ j (Ω, ) fails in general if j. Let us mention that, nevertheless, momentum estimates are still vali for some values of the parameters. In particular, it was shown [LW] that the sharp boun (1.) hols ue for arbiary magnetic fiels provie 3, an for constant magnetic fiels if 1 [ELV]. In the two-imensional case the boun (1.4) hols ue for constant magnetic fiels if <1, an the constant on the right-han sie cannot be improve [FLW9]. In the present wor we stuy the magnetic Dirichlet Laplacian H Ω (A) efine on the twoimensional isωcentere in zero an with raius r >, with a raially symmeic magnetic fiel B(x) = B( x ). Our aim is to exten a sufficiently precise Berezin type inequality to this situation. A similar problem was stuie recently in [BEKW16], but uner very song resictions on the growth of the magnetic fiel. Let us also mention that some estimates on the counting function of the eigenvalues of the magnetic Dirichlet Laplacian on a is were establishe in [T1], in the case where the fiel is raial an satisfies some growth conition near the bounary.. Main Results Before stating the results we efine the following one-imensional operators l(b) an l(b) in L ((, r ), πrr) associate with the closures of the quaratic forms r Q (l(b)) [u]= r u r ( 1 1 r r sb(s) s) u r, r r Q ( l(b) ) r [u]= r u r ( 1 r r r sb(s) s) u r r
efine originally on C (, r ), an acting on their omain as l(b)= 1 r r r 1 r ( r r ( r sb(s) s), l(b)= 1 r r r 1 sb(s) s). (.1) r The following theorem hols ue: Theorem.1. Let H Ω (A) be the magnetic Dirichlet Laplacian on the isωof raius equal to r centere at the origin with a raial magnetic fiel B(x)= B( x ). Let us assume the valiity of the mil regularity conitions for the magnetic potential A iscusse in Inouction or the valiity of (1.1). Moreover, let r sb(s) s<. If r sb(s) s Z, then for anyλ an 3/, the following inequality hols (Λ H Ω (A)) 1 Λ Ω D 1 r sb(s) s x y x y 1 x Λ 1 y Ω D x y sb(s) s Lcl,1 r1 1 [ r ] sb(s) s Λ 1/ 1 (Λ l(b)) 1 ( Λ l(b) ) If r sb(s) s Z, then for anyλ an 3/, the following inequality hols (Λ H Ω (A)) 1 Λ 1 r Ω D sb(s) s x y x y 1 x Λ 1 y Ω D x y sb(s) s [ Lcl,1 r1 r ] sb(s) s Λ 1/ 1 1 (Λ l(b)) 1 ( Λ l(b) ). where the operators l(b) an l(b) are efine in (.1) an L cl given by (1.3). Proof. We use the stanar partial wave ecomposition [E96] an L (Ω)=,1 L ((, r ), πr r) m= H Ω (A)= h m (B), m= is the semiclassical constant 3
4 where the operators h m (B) in L ((, r ), πrr) are associate with the closures of the quaratic forms r Q(h m (B))[u]= r u r ( m r r r 1 r sb(s) s) r u r, r efine originally on C (, r ), an acting on their omain as h m (B)= 1 ( m r r r r 1 r sb(s) s). r Let us first consier the case where m [ r m [ r sb(s) s]1 = 1 If r m [ r sb(s) s]1 h m (B)= r 1 r 1 r 1 r = 1 n r 1 r ( r r 1 r sb(s) s ] 1. Then r 1 ([ r ] r sb(s) s sb(s) s) r sb(s) s sb(s) s Zthen we get from (.) h m (B) 1 r r n r 1 r { r r 1 ( r sb(s) s r r Therefore for anyλ an Λ h m (B) Λ l n (B) m [ r sb(s) s]1 } r sb(s) s sb(s) s) } { r r 1 ( r sb(s) sn) r r ( r n r r 1 sb(s) s). r r n= sb(s) s ) (.), (.3) where the operators l n (B) in L ((, r ), πrr) are associate with the closures of the quaratic forms r Q (l n (B)) [u]= r u 1 r r n r 1 ( r sb(s) s) u r, r r efine originally on C (, r ), an acting on their omain as l n (B)= 1 ( r r r n r r 1 sb(s) s). r r
On the other han, if r m [ r sb(s) s]1 an, similarly, Λ m [ r h m (B)= sb(s) s]1 sb(s) s Z then (.) writes 1 1 h m (B) r 1 r r 1 r r 1 ( r sb(s) s) r r r 1 ( r r sb(s) s) r r Λ l (B) =1. (.4) Using the following ace symmey of the operators l n (B) with respect to n Λ l n (B) = Λ l n (B) we write Λ l n (B) n Z n> = Λ l n (B) n> = Λ l n (B) n> n< Λ l n (B) n< (Λ l(b)), (Λ l(b)) where the operator l(b) is efine in (.1), so that inequality (.3) implies Λ h m (B) 1 Λ l n (B) 1 (Λ l(b)), (.5) if r m [ r sb(s) s]1 sb(s) s Z, n Z an inequality (.4) implies Λ h m (B) 1 Λ l n (B) if r m [ r sb(s) s]1 sb(s) s Z. n Z 1 (Λ l(b)) (.6) Applying the partial wave ecomposition for the two-imensional Schröinger operator Ω D 1 x y ( r x y sb(s) s ) we obtain from the inequalities (.5) an (.6) that, for any 5
6 Λ if r m [ r sb(s) s]1 h m (B) sb(s) s Z, an that Λ if r m [ r sb(s) s]1 sb(s) s Z. h m (B) 1 Λ ω D 1 r sb(s) s x y x y 1 (Λ l(b)), (.7) 1 Λ ω D 1 r sb(s) s x y x y Now we move on to the case where m. Since h m (B) 1 r r r m r 1 ( r r 1 (Λ l(b)), (.8) ) sb(s) s then, repeating the same ieas as before we arrive to Λ h m (B) = Λ h m (B) ( Λ l(b) ) m m< 1 x Λ ω D 1 y x y sb(s) s 1 ( Λ l(b) ), (.9) where l(b) is given by (.1). Finally let 1 m [ r sb(s) s ]. We follow the metho of [T1]. Performing the change of the variables r=r e t in the quaratic form Q m (h m (B) Λ) corresponing to h m (B) Λ r r ( m Q m (h m (B) Λ)= r u r r r 1 r sb(s) s) Λ u r (.1) r an efining w by w(t)=u(r e t ) we ansfer (.1) to r e t Q m (B)= w t m sb(s) s Λr et w t, (.11) where Q m (B) is efine onh 1 (, ) an correspons to the one-imensional operator g m,b = (m r e Λr t sb(s) s) t et.
7 It is easy to notice that for any positiveε<1 g m,b g B (1 ε)m, (.1) where the operator ( ) g B = 1 r e t t ε 1 sb(s) s Λr et is efine onh 1 (, ). Let{µ (B)} =1 be the set of the negative eigenvalues of g m,b. Then ue to the minimax principle (.1) implies [ Λ = [ r r sb(s) s] sb(s) s] µ (B) (1 ε)[ r µ (B) >(1 ε)[ r h m (B) = [ r (g m,b ) [ r sb(s) s] sb(s) s] sb(s) s] [ r sb(s) s] sb(s) s] µ (B)(1 ε)m 1 m 1 1 ε µ (B) 1 m [ r sb(s) s] [ r (Λ h m (B)) (g B (1 ε)m )) µ (B)(1 ε)m µ (B)(1 ε)m µ (B)(1 ε)m ] sb(s) s µ (B) (.13) Let us exten the potential ( ( 1 1) r e Λr t sb(s) s) ε et torby zero an enote the corresponing one imensional Schröinger operator by g B. (We omit the epenence onǫ in the notation for simplicity). Since C (, ) C (R) then µ (B) ν (B), (.14) where{ν (B)} =1 are the negative eigenvalues of g B. Applying the ace formulae [LT76] for any 3/ we get ( ) 1 r e t ν (B) L cl,1 ε 1 sb(s) s Λr et r ( )( 1 r 1/ 1 = L cl,1 ε 1 sb(s) s) Λr r r. 1/ t
8 After passing to the limitε 1the above inequality yiels ν (B) r1 1 Lcl,1 Λ1/. (.15) By virtue of the estimates (.13)-(.15) we obtain [ r sb(s) s] [ Λ h m (B) Lcl,1 r1 r ] sb(s) s Λ 1/, 1 which together with (.7)- (.9) establishes the theorems. Remar.. Let us assume that r sb(s) s<1. In view of Theorem.1 the threshol of the specum of the corresponing magnetic Laplacian can be estimate from below by the minimum of the specal threshols of one-imensional operators l(b) an l(b) an ( 1 ) r the two-imensional Schröinger operators with the potentials x y x sb(s) s an y ( 1 x y sb(s) s), which is not possible to obtain from a stanar estimate (1.). x y Acnowlegements The wor of D.B. is supporte by Czech Science Founation (GACR), the project S Variations, geomey an physics an project SMO Posileni mezinaroniho rozmeru veecych ativit na Prirooveece faulte OU v Osave No. 94/16/SaS.
