3 D O N T R I N G T H E B E L L O B S T A C L E C O U R S E > HULA HOOP > A PIECE OF PLASTIC PIPE, A POOL NOODLE OR A BROOMSTICK > SHORT LENGTH OF SKIRTING BOARD > STRING > CHRISTMAS BELLS > MODELING CLAY OR PLAY DOUGH HERE S HOW TO MAKE THE OBSTACLE COURSE: > OBSTACLE #1 - HANG A HULA HOOP FROM THE THE CEILING AND THEN TIE CHRISTMAS BELLS TO THE TOP OF THE HOOP (MAKE IT EVEN TRICKIER BY TYING THEM TO THE BOTTOM TOO > OBSTACLE #2 - CRAWLING UNDER. USE A PIECE OF PLASTIC PIPE, A POOL NOODLE OR A BROOMSTICK TO HANG THE BELLS FROM. > OBSTACLE #3 - USE A SHORT LENGTH OF SKIRTING BOARD AS A BALANCE BEAM. LAY DIRECTLY ON THE FLOOR OR RAISE SLIGHTLY. PLACE YOUR BELLS ALONG THE BEAM FOR THE CHILDREN TO STEP OVER. IF THEY ROLL OFF TOO EASILY, PLACE A SMALL PIECE OF MODELLING CLAY OR PLAY DOUGH UNDERNEATH EACH ONE TO HELP STABILIZE IT A LITTLE. G L O W I N T H E D A R K MATERIALS N A T I V I T Y H U N T > NATIVITY SET > GLOW IN THE DARK PAINT > PAINT BRUSH FIND A NATIVITY SET AT THE THRIFT STORE FOR REALLY CHEAP. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE PRETTY, BUT IT NEEDS TO HAVE AS MANY OF THE NATIVITY CHARACTERS AS POSSIBLE. THEN PAINT EACH OF THE PIECES WITH GLOW IN THE DARK PAINT. HIDE THE PIECES THROUGHOUT THE DESIGNATED SPACE. YOU CAN DO THIS INDOORS, OR OUTSIDE DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER. AS THE KIDS FIND THE PIECES HAVE THEM TELL YOU WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT ROLL THEY PLAYED IN THE CHRISTMAS STORY. HAVE THEM RE-TELL THE STORY FOR YOU. YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED AT WHAT THEY KNOW AND REMEMBER. TO PLAY: SO FIRST GO THROUGH THAT HOOP WITHOUT RINGING THOSE BELLS TRICKY! FOR OLDER CHILDREN, MAKE A RULE THAT THEY CAN T TOUCH THE HOOP OR HANG THE HOOP HIGHER TO MAKE IT MORE CHALLENGING. THEN UNDER THE BAR WE GO, WATCH YOU DON T KNOCK THOSE BELLS WITH YOUR BOTTOM! FOR A FUN VARIATION, HAVE THE BAR HIGHER AND TRY MOVING UNDER IT LIMBO STYLE. FINALLY, ALONG THE BEAM, STEPPING OVER THE BELLS.
4 N A T I V I T Y G U E S S W H O PRINT 2 COPIES FOR EACH TEAM OF THE PROVIDED REPLACEMENT CARDS. THIS WILL MEAN YOU HAVE TWO OF EACH CHARACTER SO THEY MUST BE COLOURED DIFFERENTLY, BUT KEEP IN MIND EACH TEAM MUST HAVE THE SAME CHARACTER BOARDS. > G U E S S W H O G A M E > P I C T U R E S O F N A T I V I T Y C H A R A C T E R S THIS VERSION IS PLAYED THE SAME AS THE REGULAR GUESS WHO GAME, JUST WITH THE CHARACTERS FROM THE NATIVITY. FIND AN OLDER STYLE GUESS WHO BOARD GAME AND REMOVE ALL THE REGULAR GUESS WHO CARDS FROM OUR GAME AND REPLACE THEM WITH THE NATIVITY CHARACTERS PROVIDED. YOU CAN ALSO CREATE LARGER VERSIONS AND SET THEM UP ON TENTED PAPER ON THE FLOOR OR A TABLE. EACH PLAYER OR TEAM TAKES THEIR GAME BOARD OF 24 FACES AND PLACES ONE OF 24 MYSTERY CARDS IN THE EMPTY FRAME IN EACH GAME BOARD. THIS CARD REPRESENTS THE CHARACTER YOUR OPPONENT HAS TO GUESS AND THE CHARACTER YOU HAVE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT. THE YOUNGEST PLAYER GOES FIRST, BEGINNING BY ASKING THE OTHER PLAYER A CHARACTERISTIC FOUND ON ON ONE OF THEIR 24 VISIBLE CHARACTERS. EXAMPLE: DOES YOUR CHARACTER HAVE BROWN HAIR? IF THEY SAY, YES, THE ASKING PLAYER FLIPS OVER ALL OF THE CHARACTERS WITHOUT BROWN HAIR. IF THEY SAY, NO, THE ASKING PLAYER FLIPS OVER THE CHARACTERS THAT HAVE BROWN HAIR. THROUGH THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION, PLAYERS WILL EVENTUALLY BE ABLE TO GUESS THE NAME OF THE OPPONENT S CHARACTER. WINNING THE GAME: EACH PLAYER GETS ONE YES OR NO QUESTION PER TURN AND MAY ONLY GUESS (TO WIN THE GAME) ONCE PER GAME. IF A PLAYER SUCCESSFULLY GUESSES THEIR OPPONENTS HIDDEN CHARACTER THEN THEY WIN; IF THEIR GUESS IS WRONG THEN THEY LOSE.

THEN GIVE A SERIES OF INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PLAYERS TO DRAW ON THEIR PAPER PLATES (THAT ARE ON THEIR HEADS) WITHOUT LOOKING. HERE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS: 1. DRAW A LINE FOR A FLOOR. 2. DRAW A CHRISTMAS TREE. ADD DECORATIONS IF YOU FEEL SO INCLINED. 3. DRAW A STAR ON TOP OF YOUR TREE. 4. DRAW A FIREPLACE WITH A MANTEL NEXT TO THE TREE. 5. DRAW A STOCKING HANGING FROM THE MANTEL OF YOUR FIREPLACE. 6. DRAW A PRESENT BELOW THE TREE. AFTER THE SIX STEPS HAVE BEEN GIVEN, LET EVERYONE LOOK AT THEIR PLATES. PLACE A PILE OF CANDY CANES ON A TABLE AND PROVIDE A BASKET FOR EACH PLAYER. GIVE EACH PLAYER A CANDY CANE TO PUT IN THEIR MOUTH WITH THE HOOK END DOWN. THE PLAYER MUST USE THE CANDY CANE HOOK TO PICK UP THE OTHER CANDY CANES AND MOVE THEM TO THE BASKET. THE PLAYER WITH THE MOST CANDY CANES IN THEIR BASKET AFTER ONE MINUTE WINS. > FAKE WREATH(S) > LARGE MARSHMALLOWS > LARGE BOWL(S) S N O W B A L L T O S S PLAYERS STAND BEHIND A DESIGNATED LINE AND HAVE ONE MINUTE TO TOSS SNOWBALLS (MARSHMALLOWS) THROUGH A CHRISTMAS WREATH AND INTO A BOWL. PLAYER WITH THE MOST SNOWBALLS IN THE BOWL AT THE END OF A MINUTE IS THE WINNER. THEN HAVE PLAYERS COUNT UP HOW MANY POINTS THEY RECEIVED BY FOLLOWING THIS RUBRIC: 2 POINTS - IF THE TREE TOUCHES THE FLOOR; IF YOUR STOCKING IS TOUCHING YOUR MANTEL; IF YOUR PRESENT IS UNDER YOUR TREE. 1 POINT - IF YOUR STAR TOUCHES YOUR TREE; IF YOUR STAR IS ABOVE YOUR TREE; FOR EVERY CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT BALL THAT IS ON YOUR TREE; IF YOUR FIREPLACE DOESN T TOUCH THE TREE (IT S A FIRE HAZARD!) D O Y O U H E A R W H A T I H E A R? > 7 GIFT BOXES OF THE SAME SIZE > 140 SMALL JINGLE BELLS BOXES SHOULD CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING NUMBER OF BELLS: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35. PLACE THE BOXES ON A TABLE. TO PLAY THE GAME THE CONTESTANT MUST ARRANGE THE BOXES IN ORDER BY THE NUMBER OF BELLS THEY CONTAIN, SMALLEST TO LARGEST. THE CONTESTANTS CAN PICK UP THE BOXES AND SHAKE THEM BUT NOT LOOK INSIDE. THIS GAME CAN BE PLAYED IN TEAMS.
6 C R A F T S N A T I V I T Y B R A C E L E T S T O R Y > BEAD ELASTIC (PIPE CLEANERS FOR YOUNG KIDS) > BEADS OF VARIOUS COLORS AS YOU TELL THIS STORY, EACH PERSON WILL PLACE A BEAD ON THEIR ELASTIC (OR PIPE CLEANER FOR SMALLER CHILDREN). WHEN FINISHED HAVE THE PARENTS HELP TIE UP THE ELASTICS. LONG AGO IN A LITTLE TOWN CALLED NAZARETH LIVED MARY (BLUE BEAD) AND JOSEPH (GREEN BEAD). ONE DAY THE ANGEL GABRIEL (WHITE BEAD) CAME TO MARY AND TOLD HER THAT SHE WOULD HAVE A BABY. HE WOULD BE CALLED JESUS AND WOULD BE THE SON OF GOD. MARY WAS SO AMAZED BY WHAT HAPPENED. SHE TOLD HER HUSBAND- TO-BE JOSEPH WHAT THE ANGEL HAD SAID AND AFTER A TIME SHE FOUND THAT SHE WAS GOING TO HAVE A BABY. WHEN MARY WAS NEARLY READY TO HAVE HER BABY KING HEROD (RED BEAD) SAID THAT EVERYONE MUST GO BACK TO WHERE THEY WERE BORN TO PAY THEIR TAX. SO MARY AND JOSEPH HAD TO TRAVEL TO BETHLEHEM ON A DONKEY (ORANGE BEAD). IT WAS A VERY LONG JOURNEY AND THEY ARRIVED IN BETHLEHEM AT NIGHT. BETHLEHEM WAS VERY BUSY AS MANY PEOPLE HAD COME BACK TO PAY THEIR TAX. MARY AND JOSEPH TRIED LOTS OF INNS TO FIND A BED BUT THEY WERE ALL FULL. FINALLY THEY FOUND AN INN WHERE THE INNKEEPER WAS VERY KIND AND SAID THEY COULD STAY IN A STABLE (DARK GREEN BEAD). MARY KNEW THE SPECIAL BABY WOULD BE BORN SOON. THAT NIGHT BABY JESUS (PINK BEAD) WAS BORN. TO KEEP HIM WARM THEY WRAPPED HIM IN A CLOTH AND LAID HIM IN A MANGER, WITH THE ANIMALS LYING PEACEFULLY AROUND HIM. THE SHEPHERDS (BROWN BEADS) WERE UP ON THE HILLS WHEN THEY WERE SUDDENLY BLINDED BY A BRIGHT LIGHT. IT WAS AN ANGEL (SMALL WHITE BEAD). SHE TOLD THEM A SPECIAL BABY HAD BEEN BORN AND TO FOLLOW THE BRIGHT STAR (YELLOW BEAD) IN THE SKY. AT THE SAME TIME 3 WISE MEN (PURPLE BEAD, SMALL RED BEAD, DARK PURPLE BEAD) ALSO SAW THE STAR. THEY KNEW A SPECIAL BABY HAD BEEN BORN SO THEY ALSO FOLLOWED THE STAR. WHEN THEY FOUND THE STABLE THE SHEPHERDS GAVE JESUS A LAMB (BEIGE BEADS). AND THE WISE MEN GAVE GOLD, FRANKINCENSE AND MYRRH (SMALL YELLOW BEAD). AS THEY ALL GATHERED AROUND THE BABY JESUS, THE STARS TWINKLED AND THE ANGELS SANG AS THE ANIMALS WATCHED PEACEFULLY THEY ALL KNEW THIS WAS A VERY SPECIAL DAY.

STEP 5: GENTLY CRINKLE ALL OF THE TISSUE PAPER SQUARES(SO IT KIND OF LOOKS LIKE A FLOWER). WREATH DIRECTIONS: STEP 1: FOLD THE GREEN CONSTRUCTION PAPER IN HALF LENGTHWISE. CUT ALONG THE FOLD. STEP 6: LAY OUT THE LONG GREEN CONSTRUCTION PAPER. STARTING ABOUT ONE HALF INCH FROM ONE END, GLUE DOWN THE CRINKLED GREEN TISSUE PAPER; KEEPING THE CRINKLED PAPER SQUARES TIGHT TOGETHER, UNTIL YOU GET TO ABOUT ONE HALF INCH FROM THE OTHER END. SAVE 3 CRINKLED TISSUE PAPER SQUARES. STEP 2: TAKE 1 OF THE PIECES OF GREEN CONSTRUCTION PAPER AND FOLD IN HALF LENGTHWISE AGAIN. CUT ALONG THE FOLD. YOU SHOULD NOW HAVE TWO LONG, THIN PIECES OF GREEN CONSTRUCTION PAPER. STEP 7: GLUE TOGETHER THE ENDS OF THE CONSTRUCTION PAPER TO FORM A CIRCLE. ONCE DRY, DRAW A LINE OF GLUE OVER THE SEAM AND USE YOUR 3 SAVED PIECES OF CRINKLED CONSTRUCTION PAPER TO COVER IT. LET THE WREATH DRY.
