O eigestates for some sl 2 related Hamiltoia arxiv: v1 [math-ph] 5 Jul 2017 Fahad M. Alamrai Faculty of Educatio Sciece Techology & Mathematics, Uiversity of Caberra, Bruce ACT 2601, Australia., Departmet of Mathematics, Faculty of Sciece, Uiversity of Tabuk, P.O. BOX 741, Tabuk Abstract I this paper we cosider the statioary Schrödiger equatio for a self-cojugated HamiltoiaH = e+f, whereead f is aati-uitarypairofthecaoicalcarta creatig i ad aihilatio operatorsfor the classical Lie algebrasl 2 take i the represetatio with the lowest weight equals to 1. I this paper we prove that this operator has the cotiuous spectrum. Costructio of eigestates for H is give i details. 1 Itroductio This paper will deal with the represetatio theory of the classical Lie algebra [1]. We will cosider the Lie algebra sl 2 i a certai ifiitely dimesioal represetatio correspodig to the lowest weight 1. The represetatio module is equivalet to the Fock Space represetatio of the quatum oscillator [2]. The creatig ad aihilatio operators e ad f are atiuitary, so that the operator H = 1 i (e+f) is Hermitia, ad therefore it ca be iterpreted as a Hamiltoia for a certai Quatum Mechaical system. This Hamiltoia is related to a Hamiltoia cosidered i [3, 4] i the limit q = 1 (Note, the regime q = 1 was ot cosidered i [3, 4]). This paper orgaised as follows. I sectio 2 we fix the proper represetatio of sl 2 ad rewrite the statioary Schrödiger equatio as a liear recursio with o-costat coefficiets. Sectio 3 is devoted to the aalysis of the recursio equatios. Its asymptotic is discussed i sectio 4. Sectio 5 cotais discussio ad coclusio. 1
2 Formulatio of the problem We cosider thealgebra sl 2 geerated by three operators e,f,h satisfyig the threefudametal commutatio relatios [1]. [e,f] = h, [h,e] = 2e, [h,f] = 2f. (2.1) Let F stads for the Fock Space, { } F = Spa, Z 0. (2.2) The map we defie as e π π(e) Ed(F), etc., (2.3) e = +1 i(+1), f = 1 i, h = (2+1), Z 0, (2.4) where for shortess we use otatio e istead of π(e), etc. Our represetatio (2.4) is the represetatio with the lowest weight 1, h 0 = 0. (2.5) (i Physics this is called spi = 1/2 represetatio ). The Fock co-module is defied by = δ,,, 0. (2.6) A essetial feature of our paper is that this represetatio ot uitary: e = f, (2.7) where the dagger meas the Hermitia cojugatio. Subject of our iterest is self-cojugated ubouded Hamiltoia H = e+f, (2.8) i ad the statioary Schrödiger equatio for it, H ψ = ψ E. (2.9) I what follows, we will study the structure of ψ for ay E R ad deduce that our Hamiltoia has cotiuous spectrum. 3 Aalysis of the recursio We will use the Dirac otatios for bra ad ket vectors. I compoets, ψ = ψ, (3.1) where is a state of Fock co-module, cf. (2.6), ad ψ is a required wavefuctio. The statioary Schrödiger equatio (2.9) i compoets reads (+1) ψ +1 + ψ 1 = E ψ, (3.2) 2
where we assume ψ 0 = 1 E R. (3.3) Our aim ow is to uderstad the asymptotic behaviour of ψ whe. Sice E for ow is oly oe free parameter, we assume implicitly where Thus, Sice ψ = ψ E, ψ = ψ (E). (3.4) Recursio (3.2) ca be idetically rewritte i matrix form [3, 4]: (ψ,ψ +1 ) = (ψ 1,ψ ) L +1, (3.5) L = E 1. (3.6) (ψ 1,ψ ) = (0,1) L 1 L 2 L 1 L. (3.7) L = ( ), L 4 = 1, (3.8) we expect mod 4 patter for ψ. Diagoalisig matrix L, ( ) L = P 1 λ 0 P 0 λ, (3.9) where λ = i ( ) 1 1 E2 4 2 i E 2 { } = i 1 1 exp E i arcsi 2 ( 1), (3.10) ad P P+1 1 = 1+ 1 ( E 1 ) +O(1/ 3 ), (3.11) oe ca deduce the followig asymptotic straightforwardly from (3.7): ψ (E) = A ( ) (E) E π cos log 2 2 +ϕ (E), 1. (3.12) Itesive umerical computatios allow oe to coclude that the sequeces A (E) ad ϕ (E) smoothly coverge to A(E) ad ϕ(e) whe. Therefore, we ca postulate the 1/ expasio for A ad ϕ : A (E) = A(E) (1+ δ 1 + δ ), ϕ (E) = ϕ(e)+ ǫ 1 + ǫ 2 + (3.13) 2 with some -idepedet coefficiets δ j = δ j (E), ǫ j = ǫ j (E), j 1. (3.14) 3
Values of δ j, ǫ j must follow from (3.2). I what follows, let us combie all correctio terms i (3.13) ito δ j (E) ǫ j (E) δ(,e) = j, ǫ(,e) = j. (3.15) j=1 To get these values, let us substitute (3.12) ito (3.2). To do this i coveiet way, let us itroduce Φ = E log π 2 +ϕ ;, Φ +1 = Φ π 2 +α ;, Φ 1 = Φ + π 2 α. (3.16) The values of α ad α are the give by j=1 α = Φ +1 Φ + π 2 = E 2 log (+1)+ϕ +1 E 2 log ϕ = E 2 log(1+ 1 )+ǫ 1 1( +1 1 )+ǫ 1 2( (+1) 2 1 2)+ (3.17) ad similarly for α. Let further 1 = x 1 +1 = x 1+x = ( ) j+1 x j etc., (3.18) so that 1/-expasio becomes x-expasio. The, α = E 2 log(1+x)+ǫ x 1( 1+x x)+ǫ 2( (1+x) 2 x2 )+ j=1 x 2 = E 2 x (E 4 +ǫ 1)x 2 +( E 6 +ǫ 1 2ǫ 2 )x 3 +O(x 4 ). (3.19) Value of α have similar structure. Now we ca use (3.16,3.17 ad 3.19) i (3.12 ad 3.2): ψ = A cos(φ ), ψ +1 = A cos(φ π 2 +α ) = A (siφ cosα +cosφ siα ) (3.20) ψ 1 = A 1 1 ( siφ cosα +cosφ siα ). Equatio (3.2) ca be writte as [ cosφ (+1) A +1 siα + A 1 siα E A ] +1 1 [ +siφ (+1) A +1 cosα + A 1 cosα E A ] +1 1 = 0. (3.21) Expressios i the square brackets are the series i 1/. Coefficiets cosφ ad siφ are irregular. Therefore, (3.21) ca be satisfied if ad oly if: (+1) A siα + A 1 1 siα E A = 0; (+1) A cosα + A 1 1 cosα E A = 0. (3.22) 4
Each LHS of (3.22) is well defied series i x = 1/. They must be zero, so that each coefficiet i x = 1/ expasio must be zero. Thus (3.22) provides a set of algebraic equatios for δ j,ǫ j. Precise form of the asymptotic correctios is the followig: ad δ(,e) = E (2E2 1) E4 60E E4 1380E E6 2540E E O( 7 ) (3.23) ǫ(,e) = E 4 E(E2 5) E(E2 9) 96 3 E(9E4 490E ) (3.24) + E(3E4 190E ) E(15E6 2793E E ) O( 7 ). The correctio terms δ j ad ǫ j ca by produced from the recursio by a bootstrap up to ay order of 1/. 4 Orthogoality There is a remarkable way to derive the ier product for two states i our model. Cosider a trucated state, ψ (N) N E = ψ (E), (4.1) =0 where ψ (E) are defied by (3.2) with the iitial coditio ψ 0 = 1. Straightforward computatio gives Cosiderig the oe deduces H ψ (N) E = ψ(n 1) E E + N Nψ N 1 (E) + N +1 (N +1)ψ N (E). (4.2) ψ (N 1) E ψ (N 1) E = ψ (N) E H ψ (N) E, (4.3) N E E ( ψn (E)ψ N 1 (E ) ψ N (E )ψ N 1 (E) ). (4.4) Assumig our asymptotic for ψ N for N, oe obtais ( E ) E si logn +ϕ(e ) ϕ(e) ψ (N) E ψ (N) E = 2 A(E )A(E) E, N. (4.5) E The limit N is well defied here. I geeral, this is the Fresel itegral limit [5], Therefore, at N oe obtais si(kx) lim K x = πδ(x). (4.6) ψ E ψ E = πa(e) 2 δ(e E ). (4.7) I fact, this is the mai result of our paper. Numerical aalysis also shows that the spectrum is ubouded sice A(E) = A( E). (4.8) 5
5 Coclusio ad Discussio I this paper we have cosidered the statioary Schrödiger equatio for the self-cojugated Hamiltoia H = 1 i (e + f), where e ad f are creatiig ad aihilatio operators for the algebra sl 2 cosidered for the ifiite-dimesioal represetatio with lowest weight equals 1, equivalet to the usual Fock Space. The eigevector equatio for operator H is the the secod order recursio equatio. I this paper we have give detailed aalysis for a solutio of the recursio. Geeral expressio of ψ (E) ivolves four fuctios: A(E), ψ(e), δ (E), ε (E), see equatio (3.13). We give the rigorous way to defie δ(,e) ad ǫ(,e) aalytically i the forms of series expasio with respect to 1/ ad E, however the fuctios A(E) ad ψ(e) are defied oly umerically for real E. The further developmet of the problem implies two ways: the first way is the further aalysis of equatio (3.2) i order to fid aalytical expressios for the asymptotic aalytical fuctios A(E) ad ϕ(e). The secod way could be q 1 geeralisatio of the problem. A prelimiary aalysis shows that q 1 case leads to several uexpected mathematical pheomea. 6 Ackowledgemet I would like to thak my supervisor, Prof. Sergey Sergeev, for the patiet guidace, ecouragemet ad advices he has provided throughout my time as his studet.
