2 Introduction Supersymmetry () [] is one of the most promisin and most studied theories for physics beyond the Standard Model (SM). It is a eneralisation of the space-time symmetries of quantum field theory which transforms fermions into bosons and vice versa, while leavin the non spin-related quantum numbers unchaned. provides a natural solution to the hierarchy problem by cancellin out the quadratically diverent quantum corrections to the His boson mass with the introduction of the superpartner of the top quark []. It also provides the unification of the three SM aue couplins at hih enery scales, modifyin the runnin of the couplins above the electroweak scale. Moreover, if R-parity is conserved, the lihtest supersymmetric particle (LSP) miht be a promisin candidate for a stable weakly-interactin massive particle consistent with the observed density of Dark Matter. In these proceedins, the focus will be on the stron production of particles: scalar partners of first and second eneration quarks (squarks, q) and the fermionic partners of the luons (luinos, ). For a iven mass scale, stron production has the larest production cross sections, thus allowin to taret heavy initial particles via sinatures with small branchin ratios and lon decay chains. Apart from one exception, all analyses presented below assume R-parity conservation, which makes the LSP stable. In many models this particle is the lihtest neutralino χ, or the ravitino G, and by the fact that it interacts very weakly, events are typically characterised by lare missin transverse momentum, E miss. Only results which have been made public by the ALAS Collaboration on or before the June, the date at which the correspondin talk has been iven, are considered. hese are derived from analysin fb of pp collision data at s = 8 ev collected by the ALAS experiment. None of the analyses has seen any sinificant excess of events above the expected number from the SM predictions, thus they interpret their findins in terms of limits on particle masses or model parameters. Interpretations in a lare number of simplified models, defined by an effective Laranian describin interactions of a small number of new particles, typically assumin one production process and one decay channel with a % branchin fraction, will be summarised, demonstratin the power of the various searches. Searches with many jets, missin transverse momentum and no leptons In ALAS, these searches are split into two analyses with minimum jet multiplicities of two to six and seven to ten, respectively. he search with at least two to at least six jets [] tarets final states where each initial squark yields one jet plus E miss, and each initial luino yields two jets plus Emiss. Additional decay modes can include the production of charinos via q q χ and qq χ, where subsequent decay of these charinos to SM W boson and χ can lead to final states with larer jet multiplicities. In this analysis, events with reconstructed electrons or muons are vetoed and the search stratey is optimised in luino-squark mass plane for a rane of models. Fifteen inclusive sinal reions are characterised by increasin minimum jet-multiplicity from two to at least six, and are based on different selection cuts on the effective mass m eff, defined as the scalar sum of E miss E miss and the p of the jets, the ratio of E miss/m eff, and the minimum azimuthal anle between jets and in the transverse plane. wo of the sinal reions are desined to improve sensitivity to models with the cascade q or decay via χ to W and χ, in cases where the χ is nearly deenerate in mass with the q or. hese sinal reions place additional requirements on the invariant masses W cand ) of the candidate W bosons reconstructed from sinle hih-mass jets, or from the pairs of jets. he limits on q and masses are found to be similar for the msugra/cmssm implementation and a simplified squark-luino-neutralino MSSM model presented in Fiure (left), excludin equal mass liht-flavor squarks and luinos with masses below.65 ev. Results interpreted within a simplified model involvin the stron production of squarks of the first and second enerations and in the models with the cascade q or decay via χ to W and χ are also shown in Fiure. Hih jet multiplicities are expected from the decays of luino pairs via top squark, or via squarks involvin the production of χ or χ and χ, and is the main topoloy tareted by the analysis with at least seven to at least ten jets, sinificant E miss and the absence of isolated electrons or muons []. he sensitivity

Firstly, event classification based on the number of b-jets ives enhanced sensitivity to models which predict either more or fewer b-jets than the SM backround. Secondly, in a complementary stream of the analysis, the jets reconstructed by the jet radius parameter R =. are reclustered into lare composite jets (R =.) to form an event variable, the sum of the masses of the composite jets MJ Σ, which ives additional discrimination in models with a lare number of objects in the final state. he fully data-driven backround determination method is based on the observation that the E miss resolution is approximately proportional to H (where H is the scalar sum of p of all jets), and almost independent of the jet multiplicity in events dominated by the jet activity. he analysis result interpreted in a simplified model that contains only luino octet and a neutralino within the kinematic reach, assumin luino decay tt χ via an off-shell t-squark, is shown in Fiure (left). 4 Searches with leptons, jets and missin transverse momentum wo analyses addressin inclusive searches for squarks and luinos in events with leptons, jets and missin transverse momentum will be summarised here: searches with an isolated lepton, and searches in final states with the same-sin lepton pairs or at least three leptons. First analysis [5] uses a statistically independent set of events, compared to analyses previously described in Section, by requestin the presence of one isolated lepton (electron or muon) in the event. his analysis uses events characterised by the presence of low ((6) < p 5 GeV) or hih (p > 5 GeV) transverse momentum electrons (muons), typically referred to as the soft-lepton and the hard-lepton channels. Softlepton sinal reions are optimised to be sensitive to the models with compressed spectra of particles, where the lihtest charino is nearly mass-deenerate with the lihtest neutralino (Fiure (left)). Several sinal reions are defined in each channel, based on jet multiplicity and different selection cuts on E miss, m eff and m, where m is the transverse mass of the lepton and the E miss. Exclusion limits within simplified models involvin leptons in final states are iven in Fiure and are comparable to results obtained by the two analyses described in Section. m χ qqqqwwχ χ, x=/ ALAS Preliminary miss lepton + jets + E L dt =. fb, s=8 ev Observed limit ( σtheory ) Expected limit ( σ exp ) m < m χ PRD 86 () 9 Observed limit (hard lepton) Expected limit (hard lepton) Observed limit (soft lepton) Expected limit (soft lepton) 6 8 m Numbers ive 95% CL excluded model cross sections [pb] m χ decays via WWZZ: L dt =. fb, Observed limit ( σtheory ) Expected limit ( σ exp ) qqqqχ χ ALAS Preliminary miss hard lepton + jets + E s=8 ev m.69. qqqqwzwzχ χ < m χ PRD 86 () m Numbers ive 95% CL excluded model cross sections [pb] Fiure : Observed and expected limits obtained by the analysis with an isolated lepton, jets and missin transverse momentum [5], in simplified model with the cascade decay via χ to W and χ (left), and in case decays as q + q + χ q + q + W + χ q + q + W + Z + χ (riht). he second analysis [6] looks at the final states with multiple jets, and either two leptons of the same electric chare (same-sin leptons) or at least three leptons to search for the stronly produced supersymmetric particles. he motivation for this analysis is that the pair-produced luinos have almost the same probability to ive pairs of leptons with same chare or with opposite chare. Requirin a pair of leptons with same sin suppresses the backround comin from SM processes considerably, ivin a very clean and powerful sinature to look for new physics processes. It also allows the use of relatively loose kinematic requirements on E miss, increasin the sensitivity to scenarios with small mass differences between particles. Results for simplified models where luinos are produced in pairs and the top squark is assumed to be the lihtest squark are presented in Fiure, for the case where t decays as t t χ (left) or as t c χ (riht). Searches with b-jets and missin transverse momentum he search that requires at least three jets taed as oriinatin from b-quarks [7], is one of the most sensitive searches to various models where top or bottom quarks are produced in the luino decay chains. he analysis is carried out in the orthoonal zero- and one-lepton channels which are combined to maximise the sensitivity. All reducible backround sources oriinatin from events with at least one mis-taed b-jet are estimated simultaneously usin a data-driven matrix method which consists of solvin a system of equations based on the number of b-taed and non b-taed jets in each event, alon with the b-tain efficiency and mis-ta rate. Exclusion limits in simplified models where pair-produced luino decays as tt + χ, bb + χ or bt + χ are iven in Fiure 5.

6 6 Searches for RPV models based on sinatures with many jets Searches summarised in [] are desined to look for a new physics in various final states with lare number of hih p jets, and provide results interpreted in the context of R-parity violatin (RPV) supersymmetric models: the 6-quark model in which luinos are pair-produced and decay promptly via a virtual squark in the cascade decay qq qqq, (presented here in Fiure 7), and the -quark model, in which luinos decay via an intermediate on-shell neutralino in the process qq qq χ qqqqq. None of the analyses has observed a sinificant deviation from SM predictions, leadin to constraints on many models. After the - LHC shutdown, the LHC center-of-mass enery is expected to be increased to at least ev. Given the expected lare interated luminosity which will be collected, a whole new era of searches for the supersymmetric particles will start in 5. References [] S. P.
