1 Distinguishing between Extra Natural Inlation and Natural Inlation ater BICEP2 Kazunori Kohri, C. S. Lim 2, and Chia-Min Lin 3 Cosmophysics Group, Theory Center, IPNS KEK, and The Graduate University or Advanced Studies (Sokendai), - Oho, Tsukuba , Japan 2 Department o Mathematics, Tokyo Woman s Christian University, Tokyo , Japan and 3 Department o Physics, Chuo University, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo 2, Japan (Dated: Drat August 2, 208) arxiv: v2 [hep-ph] 4 Jul 204 In this paper, we careully calculated the tensor-to-scalar ratio, the running spectral index, and the running o running spectrum or (extra) natural inlation in order to compare with recent BICEP2 data, PLANCK satellite data and uture 2 cm data. We discovered that the prediction or running spectral index and the running o running spectrum in natural inlation is dierent rom that in the case o extra natural inlation. Near uture observation or the running spectral index can only provide marginal accuracy which may not allow us distinguishing between extra natural inlation rom natural inlation clearly unless the experimental accuracy can be urther improved. PACS numbers: I. INTRODUCTION Inlation [ 5] (see [6] or a review) is becoming a standard model or the very early universe. Recent report rom BICEP2 gives a tensor-to-scalar ratio (at -σ level) to be [7] r = () which seems to preer a large ield inlation model (which means the ield value during inlation is larger than Planck scale). One interesting realization o a large ield inlation model is natural inlation[8] where the inlaton ield is a pseudo-nambu-goldstone boson(pngb). Recently a comparison o natural inlation with BICEP2 is made in [9 6]. There is also an extra natural inlation [7] (see also [8, 9] or some recent model building) which is usually regarded as another realization o natural inlation via extra dimensional phenomenon. Those models (both natural and extra natural inlation) can be distinguished rom chaotic inlation [20, 2]. In this paper, we point out that the prediction or the running spectral index α and the running o running spectrum β are dierent between natural inlation and extra natural inlation. The observation o those parameters will be improved by uture 2 cm data [22]. However, the expected accuracy is marginal and we have to wait or urther improvement or the data in order to achieve decisive conclusion. 2 2 II. SCALE DEPENDENCE OF THE SPECTRUM The spectrum generated during inlation is given by the ollowing standard ormula (or simplicity, we set the reduced Planck mass M P = ), P = V 3 2π 2 (V ) 2, (2) where V is the inlaton potential and the derivative is with respect to the inlaton ield φ. The simplest way to characterize the scale dependence o the spectrum is to investigate the spectral index n, deined by By using the handy relation, it is easy to show rom Eqs. (2) and (3) that n dlnp dlnk. (3) d dlnk = V d V dφ, (4) n = +2η 6ǫ, (5) where the slow-roll parameters are deined as ǫ ( ) V 2, η V 2 V V. (6) We can deine higher order slow-roll parameters as ξ V V, σ (V ) 2 V, χ (V ) 2 V. (7) V 2 V 3 V 4 By using Eq. (4), the running spectrum is given by α dn dlnk = 6ǫη 24ǫ2 2ξ. (8) The running o running spectrum can also be obtained as β dα dlnk = 2ηξ +2σ 24ǫξ 32ǫη2 +92ǫ 2 η 92ǫ 3. (9) Usually we have the hierarchy This is also the case or (extra) natural inlation. σ ξ η. (0) According to Planck data [23], α = 0.034± (at -σ, i.e., 0.034±0.080 at 2-σ) and 0.03 < β < +0.06at2-σ. Near uturemeasurement o2cm luctuations will improve theaccuracy by one or two orders [22]. Ideally, we would have at 2σ. α β O(0 4 ), ()
3 3 III. NATURAL INFLATION AND EXTRA NATURAL INFLATION Natural inlation assumes the inlaton ield is a pseudo Nambu Goldstone Boson (PNGB), with the inlaton potential given by V(φ) = V 0 ( cos ( )) φ, (2) where is the spontaneous symmetry breaking scale. In order or inlation to occur, we need > M P which is outside the range o validity o an eective ield theory description. This motivates the introduction o extra natural inlation (although other ways to evade the problem exist, such as assisted inlation[24], N-lation[25], the Kim-Nilles-Peloso mechanism[26] and the axion monodromy [27]). The idea o extra natural inlation is that a similar orm o the potential can be obtained in the ramework o a 5d model with the extra dimension compactiied on a circle o radius R. The extra component A 5 o an abelian gauge ield plays the role o the inlaton and in this case the eective decay constant is given by, = 2πg 4d R =, (3) 2πRg5d where g 5d is the 5D gauge coupling and g4d 2 = g2 5d /(2πR) is the 4D gauge coupling. Note that the condition > M P can be achieved by a suiciently small g 4d or a R larger than Planck length. In the case o extra natural inlation, the potential is not really given by Eq. (2), but we should replace it as V = V 0 ( cos(n φ ) ). (4) The potential in Eq. (2) is obtained i we approximate it by choosing only n = and neglecting other terms which aresuppressed by the actor/n 5. This is reasonable i we arecalculating slow-roll parameters ǫ and η. However, those higher order terms becomes important when we are calculating higher order slow-roll parameters σ and χ. We now argue why the contributions rom larger n become important when we consider higher order slow-roll parameters. We irst briely see the origin o the term V cos(n φ ) 0 in Eq. (4). n 5 It is nothing but the eective potential in one o the proposals o physics beyond the standard model, gauge-higgs uniication, where Higgs is identiied with the extra-space component o higherdimensional gauge ield A 5 [28 32]. In the simplest case o 5-dimensional space-time, the Higgs is not allowed to have potential at the classical level, just because gauge ield itsel is gauge-variant quantity and its polynomials are orbidden by the local gauge symmetry o the theory. At the quantum level, however, concrete calculation shows that the potential such as the one mentioned cos(n φ ) above, V 0, is induced, where /R with R being the size o the extra space, and n 5 we can even discuss the spontaneous symmetry breaking due to the VEV o that Higgs ield. To be n 5
4 strict, the potential is due to the quantum eects o particles with zero bulk mass(higher dimensional mass). At theirst glance, thissituationisalittlestrange, sincethevev, i.e. aconstant gaugeield (recall that Higgs is originally a gauge ield) is equivalent to vanishing electro-magnetic ields (though the gauge symmetry needs not to be U() em ) and thereore is just a pure gauge coniguration. As the matter o act, the constant ield has physical meaning as a sort o Aharonov-Bohm (AB) phase or Wilson-loop phase when the extra space is non-simply connected space, such as the circle S. Namely, it may be interpreted as the measure o magnetic lux penetrating inside the circle. As aras thehiggsield is understoodas aab-phase, every observables areexpected tobe periodic in the ield. That is why trigonometric unctions appear in the eective potential (4). In act, we realize ( cos n φ ) = Re{(e iφ ) n }, (5) where n =,2,... denotes how many times the loop o the Feynman diagram is wrapped along the circle S. Namely, n is winding number rather than the integer to denote Kaluza-Klein modes, which appears ater the technique o Poisson resummation is used. Being wrapped n times, the particles propagating along the loop will eel AB phase n times. Now we realize some peculiar eatures o the potential (4). I we perorm Taylor-expansion o the potential at the origin φ = 0, the coeicients o the higher order terms are all divergent. For instance, d 4 V dφ 4 φ=0 = V 0 4 n, (6) which is clearly a divergent sum. The divergence appears at the ourth-derivative or the irst time and becomes more serious as the order o the derivative increases. Such eature is not shared by natural inlation scenario and is speciic to extra natural inlation. The physical interpretation o the origin o the divergence is rather simple; it is a sort o inra-red (IR) divergence coming rom the act that the particle contributing to the quantum eect is massless in the higher-dimensional sense. In act, the ourth derivative discussed above corresponds to the 4-point unction o Higgs ield, which is obtained rom a Feynman diagram with 4 propagators o massless ermion, e.g., and the integral over the loop-momentum k gives divergence at the vicinity o small 4-momentum or the Kaluza-Klein zero mode: Λ k 3 dk =, (7) 0 k 4 where Λ is UV-cuto, though UV-divergence eventually does not appear in the gauge-higgs uniication ater the the contributions rom all non-zero Kaluza-Klein modes are summed up [3]. Now, it is easily understood that once we add bulk masses to the particles contributing to the quantum correction, such IR divergences can be avoided. We note that the gauge ields are not allowed to have bulk masses, though. 4
5 Actually, such IR divergences turn out not to appear even or the case o vanishing bulk mass, once we avoid the origin, namely i we perorm Taylor-expansion around some non-vanishing value o the ield φ. This is because the non-vanishing ield φ itsel behaves as VEV o the Higgs, providing non-vanishing 4-dimensional mass or the particles inside the loop. As a typical example the ourth derivative now behaves as d 4 V dφ 4 = V 0 4 cos(n φ ) n = V [ ( )] 0 φ log 2sin, (8) 4 2 which becomes logarithmically divergent as φ 0, which is nothing but the IR singularity we discussed above. In (8), a ormula has been used [33]. cos(nx) n [ ( x = log 2sin 2)] We easily ind that all derivatives o the potential are IR-inite, since higher derivatives obtained by taking derivatives o (8) successively should be all inite or φ 0. We thus conclude that or non-vanishing φ, relevant or the inlation scenario, all higher derivatives are obtained as inite values. We at the same time point out that when φ there appears a tendency that higher derivatives become signiicant. 5 (9) IV. INFLATION ANALYSIS In the ollowing, we will analyze (extra) natural inlation in detail. To our knowledge, this detailed analytical calculation or extra natural inlation is done or the irst time. We use Eq. (2) to calculate V and V since the higher order terms n > in Eq. (4) are suppressed. However, or V and higher derivative terms we shall use Eq. (4) or extra natural inlation. It is interesting to ind that this strategy allows us to carry out the calculation in a (rather elegant) analytical way. The slow roll parameters are given by ǫ = 2 2 +cos( φ ) cos( φ ), η = 2 2 cos( φ )+cos(φ ) cos( φ ). (20) It is thereore clear that ǫ is larger than η and inlation ends when ǫ(φ e ) =, where φ e denotes the ield value at the end o inlation. This gives The spectral index is given by cos ( φe ) = (2) n = +2η 6ǫ = 3+cos( φ ) (22) 2 cos( φ ).
6 6 The number o e-olds is N = φ V φ e V dφ = 22 ln ) cos(φe 2 cos( φ 2 ). (23) Thereore cos ( ) φ = 2 e N 2 (+ 2 2 ), (24) This allows us to calculate n and ǫ as a unction o when we ix N and we will use N = 60. For natural inlation, we have V = V 0 3 sin On the other hand, or extra natural inlation, we have V = V 0 3 where we have used the Fourier series [33] sin(nx) n 2 sin(n φ ) ( φ V n ln ( ) φ. (25) ( ) φ φ ), (26) = xln(x)+x+ x x x 7 +. (27) We keep only the irst two terms because φ parameter ξ. For natural inlation, we have For extra natural inlation, we have < π. We can hence calculate the higher order slow roll ξ = 2 2ǫ. (28) Finally, or natural inlation, we have For extra natural inlation, V = V 0 4 ξ = 4 sin( φ )(φ ln(φ ) φ ) ( cos( φ ))2. (29) V = V 0 4 cos cos(n φ ) n ( ) φ. (30) [ ( )] φ = V 0 ln 2sin, (3) 4 2 where we have used Eq. (9). This allows us to calculate the higher order slow roll parameter σ as σ = 4ǫln(2 2cos(φ )) cos( φ ). (32)

Note that r becomes the same as chaotic inlation or large /M P. This result can be compared with BICEP2 and uture measurement o primordial gravity waves. We can now make plots to show our results. Firstly, the spectral index n is shown in FIG.. The plot shows we should consider 5M P and or large, the spectral index approaches n = which coincides with quadratic chaotic inlation. We plot the tensor-to-scalar ratio r = 6ǫ in FIG. 2. This shows large corresponds to higher inlation scale. This result can be compared with experiments such as BICEP2. The running spectral index α or natural inlation is plotted in FIG. 3 and α or extra natural inlation is plotted in FIG. 4. From Eq. (), we can see that it may be possible to distinguish between extra natural inlation and natural inlation i we have α 0 4. However, a conclusive result still have to be conirmed i experimental accuracy can be improved
8 α /M P FIG. 3: The running spectral index α as a unction o or natural inlation α /M P FIG. 4: The running spectral index α as a unction o or extra natural inlation urther. The running o running spectrum β or natural inlation is plotted in FIG. 5 and that or extra natural inlation is plotted in FIG. 6. As we can see rom the plots, in order to distinguish those two cases, we need at least β 0 5 which may not be available in the near uture. On the other hand, it is interesting to note that the predicted β or extra natural inlation is not too large to be inconsistent with current experimental data, albeit the IR divergences o the ourth derivative near the bottom o the potential described in section III.

CONCLUSION AND DISCUSSION Due to recent report o BICEP2, there is a trend to revive large ield inlation models. It is thus an important task to ind methods (i there is any) to distinguish among those models. In this paper, we present an analysis or (extra) natural inlation. We ound the prediction o those two models or the running spectral index α and the running o running spectrum β are dierent. Future experiments o 2 cm luctuation can give precise measurements o α and β. In particular the running spectral index α will provide us a marginal accuracy or distinguishing between extra natural inlation and natural inlation. Further improvement o accuracy is needed to obtain a conclusive
