The results are obtaine from simulations of omain wall fermion QCD with 2+1 flavours with an Iwasaki gauge, an now inclue pion an kaon masses very close to the physical point. We compare these results to our collaboration s previous results obtaine from heavier simulate quarks. 34th annual International Symposium on Lattice Fiel Theory July 2016 University of Southampton, UK Speaker. c Copyright owne by the author(s) uner the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
2 1. Introuction The motivation to stuy neutral kaon mixing comes from the role it plays in inirect CP violation observe in kaon ecays. The egree of inirect CP violation is a well known, experimentally measure quantity [1], which can be expresse as a simple prouct of the kaon mixing bag parameter, Wilson coefficients an a function of CKM matrix elements an other known quantities. Thus precise lattice calculations of kaon mixing help to constrain the CKM matrix an beyon the stanar moel (BSM) theories (where new CP violating phases can can appear.) In the stanar moel (SM), kaon mixing is meiate by the W boson an the leaing orer contributions are given by the box iagrams. An operator prouct expansion (OPE) separates the short an long istance contributions. The short istance part is given by the matrix element K 0 O 1 K 0, where O 1 is a S = 2 effective four-quark operator, given in equation 1.1, an can be foun non-perturbatively using lattice simulations. u,c,t s s W W s u,c,t s (a) Example of a Box Diagram (b) Effective four-quark operator Beyon the stanar moel, where the meiating particle is not restricte to the W boson, a range of operators become available as more irac an colour structures are possible. A basis of 5 S = 2 effective BSM operators can be efine [2], O 1 = [ s a γ µ (1 γ 5 ) a ][ s b γ µ (1 γ 5 ) b ] O 2 = [ s a (1 γ 5 ) a ][ s b (1 γ 5 ) b ] O 3 = [ s a (1 γ 5 ) b ][ s b (1 γ 5 ) a ] O 4 = [ s a (1 γ 5 ) a ][ s b (1 + γ 5 ) b ] O 5 = [ s a (1 γ 5 ) b ][ s b (1 + γ 5 ) a ] where a an b are colour inices, an irac inices are not shown. This basis is referre to as the SUSY basis, but is moel inepenent. By calculating the matrix elements of these operators we can place bounaries on BSM theories. (1.1) 2. Simulations The simulations are of omain wall fermion QCD with Iwasaki gauge fiels. We present new results from two ensemble sets; the 48 3 an 64 3 physical point, etails of which can be foun in ref. [3]. Alongsie the physical point ensembles, in our analysis we inclue results from the ensemble sets 24 3 an 32 3 in our analysis. Details of our 32 3 can be foun in ref. [4], however 24 3 has been recalculate with a physical strange mass. A summary of simulation parameters for the ensembles inclue is shown in table 1. We have also performe calculations on a finer lattice, referre to as 48 3 fine, but the NPR calculation is still ongoing an so we have not inclue those results here, as they cannot yet be inclue in our analysis. This will be inclue in a later journal publication writing up this work, an hence our present results shoul be viewe as preliminary. 1

Measurements The Bag Parameter is efine as the matrix elements normalise by their VSA values, expresse as, B 1 (µ) = K O 1 (µ) K K O i (µ) K 8 3 m2 K f K 2 (3.1) B i (µ) = N i m 2 K f K 2( m K (3.2) m u (µ)+m s (µ) )2 for the SM an BSM case respectively, where N i = ( 5 3, 1 3,2, 2 3 ) for i 2. We also measure an alternative quantity, the ratio of the BSM operators to the SM operator, which we efine as [5], [ ] [ ] f 2 R i (µ) = K m 2 K K O i (µ) K (3.3) K O 1 (µ) K m 2 K expt At the continuum physical point, R i (µ) is a simple ratio of the BSM over the SM matrix element. 4. Global Fit f 2 K The physical value of R i (µ) an B i (µ) are recovere by performing a simultaneous chiral an continuum extrapolation. We first must renormalise the bare results. This was one nonperturbatively with non-exceptional kinematics (RI-SMOM) [6] for 24 3 an 32 3 in ref. [7]. In these preliminary results, we have reuse the renormalisation constants calculate for the 24(32) 3 ensembles to renormalise 48(64) 3. Next we ajust the valence strange mass to the physical point. Here there are multiple strange masses, we interpolate linearly. If there is only one strange mass for an ensemble, we extrapolate, taking the graient from an ensemble set with the same lattice spacing an multiple strange masses.we ignore the size of the sea strange mass effects as they are expecte to be negligible compare to the final error. These were measeure in [3] Thirly, the simultaneous fit is preforme, as in ref. [7], accoring to one of two methos: 1. A fit to a linear ansatz: Y ( 0,m 2 π/(4π f π ) 2) [ = Y (a 2,m 2 ll/(4π f π )) Lat. 1 + c a a 2 + c m m 2 ll (4π f ll ) 2 ]. (4.1) 2. A fit accoring to NLO SU(2) chiral perturbation theory: Y ( 0,m 2 π/(4π f π ) 2) [ ] = Y (a 2,m 2 ll/(4π f ll )) 1 + c a a 2 + m2 ll (4π f ll ) 2 (c m +C i log( m2 ll Λ 2 )). (4.2) a is the lattice spacing in GeV 1, m ll is the pseuoscalar light-light meson mass. c a an c m are free parameters. The fixe coefficients C i are given in [8]. We then extrapolate to the physical point. 2
4 5. Results We present here results for the ratios an bag parameters. In table 2 the bare unrenormalise values gaine from the correlator fits are shown. We then present the preliminary continuum, physical point results gaine from our fitting proceure in table 3. 1 Plots of the fits are shown in figures 2 an 3. We compare these new results to those previously gaine by our collaboration. In [3] a result for the SM bag parameter incluing the physical point ata was foun, B ms k (3GeV ) = ± ± This is consistent with the new result, even though we i not use overweighting of the physical point ata an i not inclue reweighting for the sea strange mass. This agreement valiates our statement that we can ignore these effects for the less well etermine BSM matrix elements. These new results are (although preliminary, an still to be improve upon) compatible with our collaborations previous BSM results [7] (shown in table 3) which were obtaine with the same fitting approach. 6. Conclusions We present preliminary results for the BSM bag parameters an ratios incluing physical pion mass ata which appear to be consistent with the previous results in ref. [7]. We have ramatically reuce the chiral error on our results by incluing lattices with physical pions an kaons in our fits. We will inclue ata from an ensemble with fine lattice spacing in our analysis for the final results. 7. Acknowlegements The ensemble results were compute on the STFC fune DiRAC BG/Q system in the Avance Computing Facility at the University of Einburgh. N.G. is supporte by Leverhulme Trust, grant RPG The research leaing to these results has receive funing from the European Research Council uner the European UnionâĂŹs Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/ ) / ERC Grant agreement We are grateful to A. Khamseh for her contribution to calculating NPR for the fine ensemble which will be inclue in the final analysis. 1 It shoul be note that all the errors presente on the new results here, are statistical errors only, an we are yet to calculate the systematic errors. We also have not shown here the errors arising from the matching to ms but these will be inclue in the future. 3
